Everything is top-notch: food, drink, MUSIC, ambiance. Note: the other night I was there, had a few and departed quickly when my Uber arrived. I forgot my wallet! The next day, it was there waiting for me. Nothing had been taken. Where else in the world could that happen?

Absolutely phenomenal breakfast, with an egg/omelette bar, 5 to 10 hot dishes, all kinds of fruit, all kinds of meat and cheeses, juice, coffee, a truly amazing set up. Club level and club level benefits were excellent. Basically, you could eat dinner at the club level/membership if desired to do so. And, great service. Good size room with a nice view (although windows need cleaning). Good size bathroom with welcoming shower, good water pressure, products, and hot water. Entire staff very friendly. Well equipped fitness area. Pool area large and nice size pool. No hot tub. Good location. Recommend this hotel!

For us, that means we had to purchase only one meal daily since our room included the breakfast buffet, and we ate dinner at the Regency Club. You pay more, but you get your money's worth, for sure. The breakfast buffet, the food quality, and quantity, are second to none. I don't usually like buffets because the food on them tends to be blah tasting, not here though. There is a lobby bar that's VG with friendly, attentive bartenders. Everyone we came in contact with was extremely helpful, from the doormen, wait staff in restaurant areas, front desk, and the person cleaning our room, #1510. In spite of me knowing almost no Spanish, we found a way to communicate. Most of them spoke some English, and 1 bartender allowed me to practice using my translation app with them. Room 1510 is large with a mini fridge, small safe, and coffee maker. No microwave. Ice machine every other floor, and you are offered plenty of bottled water. You don't need an HDMI cable for the TV. We cast our Netflix account to the room TV using the provided instructions. The pool is on the 3rd deck, small but adequate. It's a few blocks away from Ado bus service. We used Ado to get to Cancun, a significant savings over paid private auto service. Look for their App.

There's also only one unisex bathroom, which is not in the greatest shape. But the WiFi works fine, there are plenty of outlets and a lounge employee served us a complimentary drink. It…read morewas a very nice location roughly 20 minutes outside of downtown Merida, and 20 minutes from the beach. Visiting at the end of March, meant the weather was extremely hot (close to 100 degrees Fahrenheit each day) and very humid. Keep in mind the weather and amount of mosquitos (there were a TON) when planning your trip! The service and speed at which food came out at the restaurant was quite slow, but we visited during the off season, so they seemed to have been short staffed. During the week you can order from a full breakfast menu, but during the weekend they just have a buffet. Even though the service was very slow, the wait staff were still extremely nice, helpful, and willing to provide recommendations for places to visit in the area. There are three total pools on the property, including one large heated, olympic sized pool, and two smaller unheated pools. There is a good sized gym with modern equipment, as well as a tranquil spa on site where you can get everything from facials, to massages, to body scrubs. They offer daily activities such as yoga, meditation (both at an additional charge), and even a chance to feed the local and quite adorable animals living on the property called coatis. Our room was stunning, with extremely high ceilings, an expansive bathroom with separate shower, an extra large balcony, and even an outdoor bathtub! We loved it! The wedding that took place on the property, was absolutely beautiful and had everything from a exquisite dinner table set up with twinkling lights and lanterns, to fireworks, to even a massive dance floor and raised DJ booth. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend Hacienda Xcanatún to anyone planning to visit Merida!!

But they were in fact announced in Spanish and English. The small space with four leather chairs behind the check in desk had the best temperature in the lounge.

Came through twice…read more The first was at noon on a Sunday. Joke is on us: we learned they're not open until 2pm (only on Sundays. Otherwise, they're open at noon all other days.) We came through a couple of days later because it came highly HIGHLY recommended by Big Bro. So, I was more curious than anything. Another reason I came through is to try their kibi's. (It topped my Yelp search when looking for this particular grub.) We wanted to get drinks as well since it was a hot and humid day! Pina colada for me, brewskis for Hubbers. We put in an order for the kibis because that's main reason I came through. Drinks came through, and then... mini plates of snacks, oh, WHAT! La botana, is what they call them. Whew, didn't plan on eating more than the kibis, but I welcomed it! It was a pretty good variety, too: there were sausages, pork skin, jicama and some sort of salad. Staff told us if we wanted refills on any or all of them, to let them know and they'd be more than happy to comply. Kibis finally came through, and I have to admit that I was disappointed. Not only did they lack taste, but they were also hard. They may have been overcooked which most likely contributed to the lack of flavor. Initial thought in mind were hockey pucks. Chewing through one was a challenge that I didn't bother going for a second. (It was practically inedible.) The guac, pico de gallo and sauce were great, but didn't do much for the pucks. Hubbers really liked it, though, so there's at least that. FOOD: 2. SERVICE: 4. I noticed staff mostly just hanging out together at the bar, but they were excellent at being mindful of guests. VALUE: 3. 5 for las botanas, 1 for the kibis. PARKING: Street only. It will be a challenge, for sure. OVERALL: 3. FUN FACT: They are the second oldest cantina in Merida (opened in 1917.) I learned the place is far livelier at night when they have bands performing. Someday, maybe...? Not a one-and-done, but it'll be a long minute before a second visit, if at all.
