    Morning coffee...complimentary with our stay

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for one night and had complimentary breakfast. Our entire experience was fantastic! The restaurant took necessary COVID-19 precautions. Service: our waiter, the only one there, was Eric who's originally from Venezuela. We were there early enough to engage in conversation about COVID-19, life in Merida/Mexico, culture, and politics. He was very friendly and gave us good insight to life in Merida. He was very attentive and provided great service the entire time. I had ask for a different dish after my specialty dish came out and had. I don't eat meat and failed to ask for more info on the enfrijoladas. Eric was very accommodating for my mistake. Food: We both ended up getting the chilaquiles, one without meat. The sauce was very delicious and the tortilla was nice and crispy. The dish came with refried beans and eggs. The whole dish was extremely satisfying! Did not disappoint. We were also served cut fruit with honey and granola, very fresh. To drink we had coffee and fresh orange juice. Ambiance: The restaurant is quaint and intimate. There was jaz-like music playing in the background. This place has lovely character and charm. We would definitely come here again for breakfast! Food was very delicious and service was great! Highly recommend this place when in town.

We had Sunday brunch with our friends visiting from the states. We have wanted to try brunch here for a while. We made a noon reservation for inside. Our table was waiting when we arrived. The restaurant inside is very nice and upscale. Also nice bonus is the dining room is air conditioned. We started with a round of mimosas that were good but in a very small glass. Our friend ordered a Bloody Mary that he thought was nothing special. Our server throughout the meal was attentive and provided great service. My wife ordered the Eggs Benedict which she had heard so much about. They were good but not as anticipated. I ordered a very good breakfast burrito. Loaded with eggs, veggies, sausage, with a delicious sauce over the top. The final meal was an omelet with sausage. It was very good. Very nice brunch experience and we will be back.

Que delicia!!! Es un lugar expectacular. Definitivamente el plato de espinacas es número 1.

We come here every year. The food is consistently good. Complex flavour. Gastronomical masterpieces. Hope it always stays the same.

I find the low rating in direct opposition to my 5 star experiences. I ate here three times during a short stay in Merida. Twice during jazz performances, once brunch the other a Friday night. Service was best at brunch as was my table location. The hotel looked great but I was at the nearby Hyatt so can't verify my impression. The carbon chicken dinner was fabulous my other meals only very good. Brunch was very inexpensive, dinner expensive for local standards but cheap for quality and service. The crowd is hip and a variety of ages. Great location in a super city.

Overrated place. Location is good and setting is very nice. Unfortunately, the service was THE worst for our Mexico trip. We were left unattended for 30min or so. No one even asked whether we might need something like adding water. We had to ask when our orders would be brought out. Dishes were not impressive at all. The porkbelly was overcooked. Again, no one bothered to ask about the dishes. Than I had to ask 2 different staff to bring me the check.

Nice dining areas both inside and out. The deserts are absolutely amazing and the drinks are well made - delicious. I haven't eaten a full meal here but have tried several of the smaller plates and so far they've all been very good. The Moon Lounge upstairs (only open select nights) has a really nice and relaxing atmosphere to hear some live music (jazz on weekends) and have a few cocktails.

This restaurant is gorgeous from the outside to the inside. It's worth eating here just to hang out in the space. The service is excellent, and the food is great. My favorite aspect of this restaurant experience was the great dessert options that they have. I had the chocolate tart with a passion fruit sauce accompanied with a sponge cake and cardamom ice cream, which was worth the hefty bill at the end of the meal.

We came through a couple of days later because it came highly HIGHLY recommended by Big Bro. So, I was more curious than anything. Another reason I came through is to try their kibi's. (It topped my Yelp search when looking for this particular grub.) We wanted to get drinks as well since it was a hot and humid day! Pina colada for me, brewskis for Hubbers. We put in an order for the kibis because that's main reason I came through. Drinks came through, and then... mini plates of snacks, oh, WHAT! La botana, is what they call them. Whew, didn't plan on eating more than the kibis, but I welcomed it! It was a pretty good variety, too: there were sausages, pork skin, jicama and some sort of salad. Staff told us if we wanted refills on any or all of them, to let them know and they'd be more than happy to comply. Kibis finally came through, and I have to admit that I was disappointed. Not only did they lack taste, but they were also hard. They may have been overcooked which most likely contributed to the lack of flavor. Initial thought in mind were hockey pucks. Chewing through one was a challenge that I didn't bother going for a second. (It was practically inedible.) The guac, pico de gallo and sauce were great, but didn't do much for the pucks. Hubbers really liked it, though, so there's at least that. FOOD: 2. SERVICE: 4. I noticed staff mostly just hanging out together at the bar, but they were excellent at being mindful of guests. VALUE: 3. 5 for las botanas, 1 for the kibis. PARKING: Street only. It will be a challenge, for sure. OVERALL: 3. FUN FACT: They are the second oldest cantina in Merida (opened in 1917.) I learned the place is far livelier at night when they have bands performing. Someday, maybe...? Not a one-and-done, but it'll be a long minute before a second visit, if at all.

Everyone wanted to help you and make sure you had what you wanted/needed. It only got slow when it was time to pay but not in a horrible way. I told my husband that I thought some drinks were complimentary but he wanted to pay. I could've easily been wrong but it seemed like the drinks were given for us to try. After a full day of flights, I really wanted good food. Sadly, this was not the place for that. The only thing I loved were the French fries and so we ordered a plate of fries. It wasn't on the menu so I was happy they let us order. My shrimp tacos had alot of breading and I didn't taste or see a shrimp. My husband's fish looked like buffalo chicken. I also didn't like two of my drinks and didn't drink them. The margarita had salt inside the drink and the rim. The aperol spritz...not a fan and didn't drink either. My friend ordered the grilled fish with rice, pickled carrots, onions and sauces. Both were delicious. We also had nice drinks, red wine sangria, and beer. What was perhaps the best feature of the place is the excellent waitstaff who are bilingual, who are helpful with making you feel comfortable, who provide charming conversation and tips, and who are generally well trained in hospitality. Such a far cry from the dour and arrogant wait staff typically found in Washington DC restaurants. This is a good place for a quiet escape from the plaza crowd.
