We go to Casper for the Casper dog show in July and this is our first choice for our hotel. First and foremost it is absolutely pet friendly. For us the hotel that is not pet friendly might as well not exist. We are only on the road because of the dogs and dog events so if our dogs are not allowed we will not darken the door. Second, I have not found the problems mentioned by many of the reviews of this hotel. For us the place is clean. The AC works just fine. When the AC quit they fixed it within two hours. If anything the AC is so powerful I keep having to turn it down. There is a delightful bar good food and a precious outdoor patio. There are flowers everywhere and the vistas are beautiful. For all of these reasons I recommend the hotel. But there are some other things about this hotel that no one has mentioned in the reviews I saw. First among these is the artwork. Someone with extraordinary and subtle taste, a keen ability to see something beautiful in the everyday reality of western life that is something that is reflected in the artwork. The artwork is another one of the main reasons we stay in this hotel. The Ramkota is not part of a national chain. It is a unique reflection of Wyoming, of Casper, of the west. That uniqueness is captured in the artwork and it's worth staying here for that alone. It is far more interesting than any national chain hotel. I would give this hotel five stars except for the politics. And I really do think that the ownership needs to look carefully at the diversity of its clientele and at the message being sent to its customers. Many of us are coming from outside of Wyoming. Not everybody out there thinks the way Wyoming voters think. Two years ago the floor mats in the lobby were a glorification of the fossil fuel industry. I thought "Wow, That's pretty outdated!" The management caught on and today those floormats are gone. Good for them! That is the kind of change they need to make in order to make the hotel appeal to a broad range of visitors who are not from Wyoming. But this morning at breakfast I was hit in the face with Fox News. I do understand that there are many in Wyoming who prefer and believe Fox News.
