I worked with Bob Palka, sales manager... and he was awesome! He hooked me up with a Simmons Beauty Rest and I'm sleeping like a baby now. These guys have their own delivery drivers - not subcontracted - which is important if you don't want to get talked out of refusing a delivery after having holes cut in your old mattress (Steinhafel's in VH... stay away from them!). American Mattress has a great return/exchange program and Bob is a solid sales guy who cares about his customers. Go see Bob!!!

This stretched to 4 weeks where I was re-promised 2 more weeks. I pulled the plug at 6 weeks with no sign that I would ever get my purchases. My request for a refund was processed immediately upon request. This experience resembled a ponzi scheme whereby my payment was being used to pay down prior expenses and the factory simply was not delivering new goods. American Mattress has apparently already gone through reorganization and the retail landscape is littered with their closed stores. It is unfortunate because I liked the product I chose and found the salesperson knowledgeable. But my recommendation is buyer beware.

So we ran up the street to one of our local Mattress Firms and it turned out to be a great experience. All the sales staff here are super helpful. We didn't know what we were looking for specifically - we weren't even sure what firmness we were leaning towards - and they helped us to try out the perfect beds to help us make our decision. They ended up helping us pick the perfect bed and we are loving it already! Going to bed at night is like melting into butter and we wake up without aches and pains feeling rested. Its held up great, so when I was looking for a low but long dresser (another odd size space to fill) and I figured I'd check them out again. I'd shopped around and had no luck finding something that fit my criteria. First, it needed to fit in the space. Second, it needed to be in my price range. Third, it needed to be REAL furniture, not that Amazon press board type of junk. On top of all that if it matched my room then even better, but I'd sacrifice on looks if I had to. I walked in and was greeted right away. The sales guy asked if I was looking for something specific or just browsing. I told him what I was looking for and exactly what my max dimensions were as I walked around looking at the dressers. He walks away for a second and comes back and calls me over to a dresser. "If you don't mind keeping the legs off of it this might work". Sure enough this thing was picture perfect. It was Just at the max for my dimensions and budget, but that included threshold delivery. The boss on duty came over and we finalized everything so easily, I honestly should have just started my day here and saved myself a lot of trouble shopping around. My delivery came on time and at the earliest point in my 3 hour window. Super nice delivery team as well. This makes 2 great experiences at this spot for me so I definitely recommend checking them out!

Since I did not yet have my apartment available for delivery, I requested that the order be placed on hold. When I later contacted the store, I was informed that the sales representative had given my adjustable base to another customer and that I would now have to wait until September for a replacement. The person identifying herself as the store manager stated that the base was "free" and that I had not paid for it, which completely ignores the fact that it was part of the purchase agreement and sales promotion. Customers should receive everything that was promised at the time of sale. I expect businesses to honor their commitments and provide better customer service than this.

The problem with this store is the employees. After reading the review I do think that corporate should get involved. After 40 years in the retail business, I do believe that in time we will have another empty furniture store as we have along Milwaukee ave currently. Salespeople are not trained proper. This company sells absolute trash furniture. I bought two…read morepower recliners sofas from this company in January of this year. Each sofa has two recliners for a total of 4. Paid over $4k. Not even three months later, a recliner completely stops working. The power switch still showed red (getting power), but switch not working. Technician comes out- says power supply is good but switch went back. Replacement parts expected to take about 3 months. 2.5 months later, a second recliner goes out, this time while up so it can't even go back down. Original tech told me he was going to order 4 replacement switches and replace all of them. When I called to open claim on second recliner going bad, was told the initial tech only ordered 1. So now I'm out two recliners, who knows when the replacement parts will come in for first issue and I'll have to wait another several months to have second fixed. These are obviously faulty couches and they won't give me a refund. Quite literally the only reason I got these couches was to have the reclining functionality. Do not do business with this company. They don't sell quality products and fixed take forever. I'll be forming a claim with BBB and disputing with my credit card company.

Unfortunately, Lisa had no time to help me. The next day I contacted the store but again, Lisa had no time to help me. I did leave a message for the store manager to call me. However, "Taylor" did not return my call. I then stopped by their location in Skokie. They had the chair. The sign said $1650 was the price. But when the salesman rang it up, the price had jumped to $1730. A supervisor I called at the corporate level could not explain the difference. Then a customer service woman called me to say they quoted a chair with lumbar support. I did not ask for this extra feature. I was not told the sale was being rung up with the add on. I could not get the store to see what the problem was here. So I will not be buying from Penny Mustard. If you are buying there, double-check the posted price versus what is rung up. Something is definitely off with their selling practices In my opinion.
