EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED-BEWARE OF PRICING PRACTICES! On 5/22/26, I had a technician from Cassell Bros come to my home to inspect my breaker box. Initially, I was told that five breakers needed to be replaced. The technician stated he had to leave to purchase them because they were "too expensive" to keep stocked in the van. At that point, I was quoted $2995.00 for the work. After returning and beginning the repair, the technician discovered an additional breaker that needed replacement. Interestingly, this breaker was available in the van. The total was increased to $3594.00. When I asked about the cost of the breakers, the technician showed me what appeared to be a pricing image indicating the breakers cost $599.00 each. Trusting the information provided, I approved the work and paid the invoice. The entire visit lasted roughly 30 minutes. Later that day, I noticed the breaker packaging left behind in my recycling bin. Out of curiosity, I researched the exact breaker models and found them listed at Home Depot for approximately $75 each. To verify, I personally went to Home Depot with the packaging information and confirmed the breakers were indeed priced at $75.31 a piece (I have pictures as proof). Concerned about the significant markup, I contacted the company seeking an explanation. Initially, I was told no manager was available and that someone would return my call, but I did not receive a call back. After calling again, I eventually spoke with someone named Broderick. During the conversation, I was told the company is " a business trying to make money." I was offered a 20% discount, which I did not feel adequately addressed the issue. I was also told the only other alternative, and I quote was, "I CAN COME BACK TO YOUR HOUSE AND PUT THE OLD BREAKERS BACK IN." Another concern is that the invoice provided was not itemized, making it impossible to see the breakdown of parts and labor charges. What reputable company doesn't give you that information? One that is not practicing ethical business. I understand businesses need to make a profit, but this experience left me feeling misled and taken advantage of. If it hadn't of been for their "smart" technician leaving the packaging in my trash, I would have never questioned this service. I am writing this to warn other homeowners in the Midlands to check the stickers on the units Cassell Brothers installs. On 12/31/2025, I contracted and financed $6,280 for a top-of-the-line, high-efficiency Rinnai SENSEI RX (0.98 UEF) condensing tankless water heater. Instead, they installed a much cheaper, standard-efficiency RE199e (~0.81 UEF) unit. The unit they installed is a base-model, non-condensing unit that typically costs $1,000 less than what I paid for. Because it's the wrong unit, I also lost out on a $350 Dominion Energy rebate and have a $600 Federal Tax Credit liability. I brought this to the manager's attention three weeks ago. Since then, I have been repeatedly ghosted and ignored. They are happy to take premium prices for builder-grade equipment, but they refuse to answer the phone when caught. I have officially opened a merchant dispute with GreenSky and filed formal complaints with the SC Residential Builders Commission (LLR) and the SC Department of Consumer Affairs. Save yourself the headache and go with a company that actually installs what they invoice you for. Check your model numbers! ***UPDATE*** finally after I reached out to the BBB, the Department of consumer affairs, wrote a yelp review and a google review, I finally got a phone call back. funny how that works. They called my brother and he declined their phone call because it was a New York number. So they called my wife to get ahold of me. Somehow they think they can say they tried reaching out to me "multiple times". if that is the case Robbie, show a screenshot showing where you tried to get ahold of me? I will post all of my evidence showing you bait and switched units on me. Funny how I did not even get an apology or explanation of what happened when your manager James called me this morning, he just said, " instead of trying to the math, we will swap out for the correct unit" and wanted to schedule a time. ***UPDATE*** I have reached a settlement with Cassell Brothers. In the end they did the right thing and corrected the situation. Even though there was a lot of back and forth in the end, everyone stayed professional and I am grateful for that. I appreciate that management stepped up to make it right. From the time the Tech recognized the problem until the new system was installed, the team from Cassell had been nothing but professional, accurate and considerate. We are very pleased with the service, price, value for the work and response of Cassell Brothers. This was our second unit total replacement, the last being in 2020. Reading recent reviews one could be scared away. That is not our opinion. Justin identified the inoperable problem in our 40-year old unit, got us in immediate contact with Doug (who came out on a Saturday). The replacement team of Dave, Carl, Donnie, Walter and Favian removed the old system (including ductwork) and installed the new system in less than 6 hours (in an attic over 95 degrees). They cleaned everything, went through the operations steps with us, and followed up two days later to complete one task. I would have given them a five-star but for one item still not resolved with our Trane unit from 2020--requires another Trane specialist. Horrible. Under warranty and been without AC for a solid week with triple digits heat index. They had to order a part and I offered to pay for for overnight delivery but they said that wasn't an option. it has been a nightmare. My unit is 3 years old. Cassell Brothers replaced my 20-year-old water heater then emailed pictures of the water heater installation as well as the invoice for the work on the same day of install. I had approved the installation quote beforehand. Nothing on the invoice was itemized, just the 40-gallon NG water heater for $3,520.00 and cost of an expansion tank for $500.00; totally $4,025.00. Cassell Brothers say they operate as a flat-rate, task-based pricing company. Well, don't try to ask for more clarification on labor costs, etc. In my communications with them - which from their end - was nil, all I wanted was a simple itemization beyond the three points they provided. I have communicated with Cassell Brothers via phone many times, simply asking if they could itemize the invoice so I could see the individual cost of the water heater, hourly labor charges, parts installed and charge for those parts, etc. Even though promises have been made that they would get back to me with some information, this has been a dead end. The manager of the plumbing department, James Hammon, was to provide an itemized invoice but did not. I am disheartened that a BBB A+ rated company could be so neglectful and unconcerned regarding a simple request for clarification. Had service on my A/C by Wriston over the summer. Well, he left severe grease marks. When I complained to Cassell bout it, they didn't wanna pay for it. So I waited it out. Then, I went up there a couple months later. Told them I'm taking them to court if they don't pay me $100 to get spots fixed, he declined. Said he will have someone come BACK into my house... I said "NO!, you are NOT coming back into my home!!!" Later, then said they would refund my card $100... don't let these guys walk over you!!! read more

Julie "small" mistake of booking my emergency appointment for 2 days later really messed with my livelihood. I expressed multiple times on phone that i work from home and need emergency assistance asap because i have my power off due to live wire. This "small" mistake she kept telling me cost me alot. Early this afternoon, I gave this company a call to see if they were available today to repair my well pump. While I was washing dishes my water just stopped. Before I called them I eliminated the possibility that it was a broken pipe. The answering service was nice and put me on today's schedule. About ten minutes later, I got a call from a dispatcher. He was quite condescending and told me that he was sure I had a busted pipe. After trying to explain to him it was NOT a broken pipe, he asked if he could call me back shortly. I said yes. He called me back and was quite insistent that I had a broken pipe (per, he said,a plumber in the office) He became even more condescending, intimating that I didn't know what I was talking about and still insisted that I have a broken pipe and they would not fix them until the bad weather passed. According to them (I am an old woman) I didn't know what I was talking about. Shortly there after my propane guy came to top off my tank. While he was here, he checked a couple things on the well. Sure enough I was correct. The pressure switch is failing and gauge needs to be replaced as well; an easy fix. I can keep the pressure up until I get someone out here to replace these. I always keep my word, and tonight I am keeping mine. This poor review will be placed anywhere that I can place it. Cassell Bros. LLC services my generator. This past 8 days, since Helene hit, I have called this company numerous times with concerns and questions regarding my Generac standby home generator. Dispatch is always courteous, knowledgeable and efficient. Someone always returns my call. There were times I was nearly in tears, frustrated that I knew so little about my generator. I never thought I would have to rely on it solely for such an extended period of time, and never learned things I should know as a woman living alone in a rural area. Ever person who I spoke to at Cassell Brothers was so patient of my total ignorance, talked my through several events and endeavored to make things as easy as possible. Goldilocks and I have had a lot in common over the years: struggling to find a "just right" fit. Thankfully, when it comes to climate control system pros (after finding myself dissatisfied with no fewer than SIX other companies), I have finally found a company I like! Cassell Brothers, highly recommended to us by friends, checks ALL the boxes: great customer service, high-quality products, and reasonable pricing. When replacing our old, worn-out system, our first point of contact was the incomparable Jesse Carrillo, who came to the house and did a super thorough evaluation of our needs. He graciously gathered quotes for 3 different types of HVAC systems, patiently answered endless litany of questions (even on Saturdays!), and collaborated with his office manager several times to secure a variety of novel, affordable payment options. Once we settled on our choice of system, the installation began a mere 3 days later. I was so impressed with the fabulous installation team! Not only were Cole, Heem, and Don HIGHLY technically competent; they also were very professional. They politely and clearly confirmed every detail of the installation before completing the work and cheerfully explained any unfamiliar aspects of the install. In spite of soaring temperatures and pesky mosquitoes, the team never complained but worked quickly, cheerfully, and with the smooth efficiency of a well-oiled machine. Afterward, they cleaned up every single piece of debris from the physically demanding, complex job. After the new system was installed, I was pleasantly surprised to notice that our house was over 15 degrees cooler a mere 2-3 hours later. I'm not even sure where to start with this review. I hope someone reads this before they hire them so I can save them from being ripped off. Our air conditioning was having a problem on the second floor while we were out of town. The person staying at the house, alerted us to it. I thought by hiring a large firm, they would be reputable, but boy was I wrong. The problem is that their technicians are not technicians. They are salesman. All they wanna do is sell new units because they don't know how to fix anything. I will say they showed up promptly the same day that I called them at first. The person was there approximately 15 minutes and charged me $500 to replace a part that cost $75. On a sidenote, I have never had a service company charge me for a service call when they performed the work. But they had added on a charge for showing up even though they supposedly performed a service. I was told by the technician that he had tested the system on the second floor and everything was working fine. The next day we came home to a very hot second floor. We called the company and they said they would send someone out. It was lunchtime when we called and the technician did not arrive to our home until 9 o'clock at night. When he did arrive, he told us that the first technician had replaced a part that didn't need replacing on the wrong unit and had not worked on the second floor at all, despite his claims of testing the system on the second floor. We wanted our money back but no, they weren't gonna give us a refund instead they were gonna come back another day diagnose the problem on the proper unit and put that money towards fixing it so they came back and told us that they had performed a leak test and that absorbed all of the money we would have gotten back because apparently leak tests cost $500 to diagnose so in their mind we were even even though they had done no work for us. Very convenient. We were also told that our breaker was bad and that was gonna cost $300 and something dollars and then we were told that our compressor needed to be replaced and our units were not under warranty so we would just have to pay full price or their suggestion was to just buy new units. The system was purchased in 2019 so we did not believe that it was not under warranty. Furthermore, there was nothing wrong with the breaker. The technician replace the breaker without our permission and when he told us this, we had him put the old breaker back in and told him we were not paying for that because there was nothing wrong with it They left and the unit was still not fixed. We then called a different company who told us everything we already knew. There was nothing wrong with the breaker and our units were indeed under warranty. The first company not only didn't fix anything but left one of the units unplugged which caused further damage to it and also had taken all of the screws out of the unit covers and disappeared them so we had to go to Lowe's and buy all new screws. The second company fixed it and they were honest and it was under warranty so there was no need for all of the delay or stress or expense we were put through. So dishonest. You should be ashamed. Considering going to court because of all the lies and scamming us out of money. You did nothing to fix the issue. Thankfully we hired people who knew what they were doing after you left. read more

My newly purchased, older split-level home has not cooling properly in the bedrooms. Cassell Brothers came and quoted a repair for around $10k stating I needed new duct work and that would fix the problem. I was informed that in split level homes there is some times a temperature difference upstairs vs basement which i obviously understand. But I was ASSURED that the bedrooms would be cool. Cassell Brother techs came and made repairs and nothing changed, my bedroom were nearly 80 degrees (which was the same, if not WORSE than before). I called them and they came back a total of 8-10 times to make adjustments and more repairs. One time I was even charged an additional $300 for a piece that was broken - I was assured "THIS was the problem!! It will be working now!" TThe bedrooms still NEVER got cool - the coolest I could get them was nearly 80 degrees. After 8-10 visits (of me having to be home from work so they can enter my home), to paraphrase our last conversation "this is as good as its going to get, and were done here". At this point I have paid $7600 and owe around $3500 remaining. I get a bill in the next month stating to pay the remaining $3500 - for WHAT?? I call and speak to several people, namely a woman Samantha who assured me she would help resolve this. After a few calls she made to managers, techs, us, etc, she said they would enter our basement ceiling to fix the duct work in between the floors and this would fix the problem. We got COVID so had to delay a couple weeks. Never heard from her so sent her a message. When I finally heard back from her today she informed us, they would NOT being entering the ceiling to fix the duct work. They woudl just wipe away our balance. I am still nearly $8k in the hole and my AC doesn't work. She initially stated that I have a balnce of $3500 but it would cost them $8 to fix the ceiling duct work - I told her that no offense but the costs to Cassell Brothers arent really my problem. She then back-tracked and said "no I'm not saying thats not why were fixing it - we arent sure if that will actually fix the problem". We had already started packing up the office in order to make room for them to do their repairs, which they are now NOT doing. So regardless of whatever they are saying I have paid $8k and my AC doesn't work. I didnt ask for new, shiny duct-work. I asked my AC be repaired and was assured by MULTIPLE technicians and managers that Cassells WOULD IN FACT be able to fix my AC. THis has been a horrible experience and I pray none of you have to deal with this company. Its a shame becuase I have hearrd that they do "good work" although they are known to be a bit pricey. Wow. Best customer service we've ever had from ANY company. We called in the early afternoon because our brand new HVAC unit wasn't working and they were able to get us in as the last appointment the SAME DAY. The tech comes when he said he would and didn't have what he needed, so he said he was going back to his work to grab the items needed. This was already past 6:30PM, so I honestly wasn't expecting him to come back to fix it because it was already dark by now. Not only did he come back around 7:30, BUT he came back with his service manager to help. Not sure why he needed him but they both worked out in the dark until 8:25PM. Also the installation of a bigger return is significantly less money and the job is going to be done in such a way there is no damage to my wall or having to replace the hallway door. We have been very pleased with Cassell Brothers over the last month. They came out to our family lake house on a Saturday during the hottest weekend of June when our AC went out. They were able to make the repairs in a timely manner. Then, our home unit went out just two weeks later ... again, Lewis and his crew came out, diagnosed the problem and made the (very significant) repairs. I have used them three times and have had great results every time. They stand by there work and warranty's.

Do not use this company. I used them for 3 yrs in a contract to check my units every 6 mos. All they would do is add freon to my units. Obviously there was an issue somewhere they were incapable of finding. Now I get notice from an inspection that was done that I have a major problem with a 1200$ cost. I only used this company because of the reputaton built by the previous owners. I am sorry I continued to use this business. I do have an older unit, the fan and blower were working fine but just not cooling. They replaced a part ($800) said that if that didn't work we would need a new unit around 10-12K . The fix lasted less than a week, second tech found a leak that should had been found the first time. Again complete new unit was recommended. So we called the people we should have the first time. After inspection we found out the part that was replaced with Cassell Brothers was unneccesary and the unit does not need replaced only part of it. So we are going with the more reliable company. I try to assume the best in people but I cant help feeling that they knew that the fix they offered was not going to last and then they would be able to talk us into a new unit. I don't fault the second tech. He was very polite and helpful but I do hold the owners of the business accountable for basically making us throw away 800 when it could have been applied to the acutal repair needed. If I could give this company 0 stars I would do it without any hesitation whatsoever. As part of purchasing a home we learned that the HVAC system would have to be replaced. Being new to the area, this company was recommended to me and at home closing I received a $6,000 check made out to Cassell Brothers which covered about half the replacement cost; so I was stuck with this vendor. Here are some of the issues I've encountered since then: 1. They quoted me for a whole system replacement without ever entering the home. This is the largest purchase most people ever make outside a car or home and the $14,000+ quote consisted of a 2 line e-mail. 2. In a follow-up appointment with the salesman he (a) initially "forgot" and missed the appointment, (b) then he evaded and did not answer any of my questions, (c) was rude towards my roommate, (d) did not have ANY documentation about the proposed equipment and (e) finally wrote a proposal in pencil with so little detail and such bad handwriting that even the technician's couldn't read it. 3. Between the proposal and final installation I made numerous calls to the company looking for more information. Again, the answers were vague and NO ONE EVER (including the owner) returned my calls. 4. When we decided to limit the replacement to just the units without new duct work (a $4,000 savings), we were repeatedly told the system wouldn't work (it works just fine thank you). As part of what I consider to be a "f*** you" job, the connections between the units and the existing duct work was horribly done. Furthermore, the job foreman was little more than a bully and acted that way. 5. After leaving the house on Friday, we noticed that some lawn furniture had been broken (after 3 technicians sat on it at once) and immediately called the company. We were told that they would "make things right" and resolve the issue on Monday. You guessed it....Monday came around and not a peep from the company. I recently purchased a house from someone who used this company for their maintenance on their HVAC. When I had the system inspected, prior to closing, there was an item not up to county code "the gas line should not penetrate the cabinet," which it did bc the line should have a "nipple" on it not go straight into the gas pack.The former owners sent me an invoice stating that "gas line is fine." This invoice says to me that either the guy didn't know code or was too lazy to do his job. BEWARE do not use these guys! read more

Shout out to Cassell Brothers for rescuing our AC! While my husband and I were on a weekend getaway, our AC went out while my mother was house sitting. We had to call a tech for after hours service in which the tech was here in a good response time. He diagnosed the problem and explained that this wasn't a quick fix. Although this wasn't the diagnosis we were hoping to hear, CB hooked us up with window units as the part needing replacement would take a day or two to come in. The window units were life savers! The part was ordered on Monday, came in Tuesday, and a tech was out to repair Wednesday. Will was our tech and he was a rock star! He was so knowledgeable and just overall provided an exceptional customer service experience. Service manager Jamie was very professional and easy to work with and we are beyond pleased to finally have AC again! We returned home from a week's vacation and our AC wouldn't turn on, house temp inside hit 85 degrees. Our usual HVAC company came and reported that our blower needed to be replaced and due to its variable speed, it would take a special order (5-7 days w/o air) and very high price tag. Something told me to get a second opinion since we've put massive sums into our HVAC and I couldn't stomach more. Two friends from opposite sides of the area recommended Cassell--called on a Saturday morning, tech shows that afternoon and finds nothing wrong. I'm not kidding. What Cassell's tech thinks happened is our system was hit by a storm power surge and needed the manual reboot he performed. the workers broke my attic ladder and Cassell brothers refused to do anything about it. We don't need to have a ladder replaced for free because we can afford it but if Cassell brothers crew screw it up at least they should be responsible for it and they definitely are not taking any responsability. They called us to for a review and we informed Sam Cassell about the situation and today I found out they are definitely taking responsibility. THEY ARE AWFUL AND I WILL NEVER RECOMEND THIS TYPE OF SERVICE. read more

We had a plan to replace our 15 year old HVAC system before it failed. Given we weren't in a rush, we took the opportunity to talk with a number of suppliers. We talked with Cassell Brothers last because they were highly recommended by good friend. I was impressed by the representative's knowledge of the product and attention to our needs. The installation took longer than anticipated, and the guys had a minor mishap that was taken care of promptly. We love the system and compared to last year's electric bill, we're saving about $100 per month. The only reason this isn't a 5 star rating is because after the install, we never heard from anyone. We had to make at least three phone calls to get the required paperwork for the SCE&G rebate. I would have expected a follow up after spending that kind of money on a complete system. read more
