When we started…read moreat Foss, the quality of instruction and kid-friendly environment made it worth the steep price. Our son loved his lessons. However, several major factors have caused us to pull our son out mid session. This year, Foss stopped offering any make up sessions. To us, this was unreasonable as the current session is 13 weeks long and the price is $30 for a half hour. Instead, Foss offers family swim as a substitute for a make-up lesson, which books out months in advance. Other swim schools offer tokens for make up sessions as inevitably, very few families are available for 13 weeks straight. We also experienced a major lack of communication with management. Nobody answers the phone. We missed a session once and when we arrived the following week, the building was closed. There was nothing on the website or any form of communication to inform us of this closure. When I called and asked why the building was closed I was told that there had been a note on the door the previous week (the week we missed.) Most unfortunately, the quality of swim instructors at Foss varies widely. Although our three teachers before this session were great, our most recent teacher wasn't in the pool when class started, had 4 year old kids sitting on the step for long periods of time, and put the kids in time out if they moved to the other end of their lane for their turn. Of course the top priority is safety, but she never showed the children what she expected of them. I'm still not sure how they were expected to get to the other side of the lane for their turn. I had to stick up for my son when the teacher put him in time out for moving down the lane. During the first class with her, my son only swam for 10 minutes total, as the kids sat on the step for the first 10 minutes, played games for 5 minutes and were sent out of the pool early. This is not acceptable when classes cost about $1 per minute. When I spoke with the manager about my concern, another mom was doing the same thing about the same teacher. Instead of listening to me, the manager said she'd call or email me the next day, but I never heard from her until I followed up a few days later. If I were the manager, I would be interested in knowing why families were ending their sessions. Overall, this lack of communication, and poor teacher experience is no longer worth the high cost (and parking nightmare.) We were hoping to keep our son (and eventually enroll our daughter) at Foss as there are few swim environments close to us that are as kid friendly. We know a lot of families at Foss who have had great experiences, but unfortunately, it was not for us.

Student lessons are done at the far opposite end of the pool where there's no way anyone can observe them. Drink vending machine was out of most items, including water, and soda purchased was HOT as if machine was heating contents instead of refrigerating. Staff was clueless. All adds up to poor management oversight.

My children have had a great experience with swim lessons at Superior Training. We had tried a…read morepark district years ago with my first, but we quickly realized how poor the level of interaction was with the instructors and the lack of progress being made.  We switched to Superior and have had a great experience since then (in fact, we just enrolled our third child). The ratio of instructor to child is excellent, allowing swimmers to become comfortable in the water and learn skills at a faster rate. I highly recommend Superior Training!

They offer small class sizes which are lead by qualified instructors. The coaches are patient and make class fun while always emphasizing safety. My 4-year old swims laps but more importantly than that, she knows what to do if she falls into any body of water to save herself. I owe all of that to the instruction she receives from British Swim School.

My 3 children took swim lessons…read more Pros: the teachers and staff are all very nice and relate to kids well. They have a nice area where the kids can play/relax after class for a few minutes. They use the whole lane of the pool to teach which maximizes swim time. The teachers sometimes have them "group swim" instead of ONLY individual swim which maximizes swim time. They also are very prompt with starting and ending on time. Cons: the teachers they have are not consistent, and so they don't know your child's swim level, and the skills worked on that week is random (whatever the teacher wants to do), so there is a lack on consistency. I also wish there was an option for parents to sit inside the pool area instead of only the option to sit outside of the glass. Overall, I would go for another lesson, but wish for more consistency in skills learned each week.

We were excited to graduate…read morefrom the baby classes, which is 30 minutes of just getting the kids used to being in water and most of the instructors we had did not seem too engaged in the class. Once we got to the 3-5 classes, the instructors were great and my kids loved it. However, we had 2 weeks in a row where, first, my 3-year-old fell in the water and was picked up by another instructor who was walking around the pool. Then the next week, during the last 5 minutes of "play time," my 4-year-old slipped off the wall and was fully submerged and flailing in the water. The teacher (who is great) was with another child. I don't know how long my daughter was under water (it felt like forever), but it was long enough for all five parents watching to bang repeatedly on the class and yell for someone's attention, since the door to the pool is locked and we couldn't get in. Finally, an instructor walking around the pool noticed and grabbed my daughter. During both incidents, the "lifeguard" did not notice either girl and made no move to help either time. After the second incident, we removed my daughter's from the class. I spoke with the manager, Jackie, who was great, discussed how there is no way that should be happening, and offered a full refund. Then she had the supervisor, Marty, call me. He made the situation much worse by repeatedly discussing how young children don't listen by the pool and it causes unsafe situations. I agreed with him, acknowledging that my 3-year-old fell in due to not listening. But my 4-year-old is very nervous by the water and tends to be a very good listener. Despite mentioning this, Marty again discussed how children don't listen and cause an unsafe situation by continually jumping in the pool on the own. Even if my daughter was not listening, there should be no reason a child is fully submerged under the water with no one (especially the lifeguard) noticing until parents finally get their attention by banging on windows and yelling. Marty made the whole experience worse by his attempts to explain why the situation occurred and helped me feel more confident in my decision to transfer the girls to the new Foss swim school (which is also much bigger and cleaner).

He started about 4 weeks ago and he is in the Dolphin program which is individualized and has done so well. Jayla his instructor has been so patient and attentive to he needs and very quickly gained his trust. In a few weeks he's making great progress. I am very confident he will develop the skills to be a strong and safe swimmer.

Putting this place at two stars for now for the cleanliness and equipment. First of all, I went to…read morethis gym because I was looking for a replacement gym because Blink fitness near Riverside closed down. It was a little bit more expensive than blink but I was willing to play the price because it was a 24-hour gym and it was close to my house. I did notice that the gym looked a little bit older and less modernized than blink fitness but I was happy enough to just find a gym close to my house. I noticed several things after being a member for about a month now. 1) Just tonight several hours ago, I brought my own water but half was full and I was going to refill it and I noticed the gym fountains water spouts had mold/rust on it. Being in the military and having lived in the barracks that have had mold in it it's really a health risk and can make someone sick. To have mold means that those fountains have been neglected cleaning. Anybody who has cleaned a water fountain would be able to notice that. 2) The gym equipment is relatively kind of old and like others said, not maintained enough. The treadmill looks old and I miss the blink fitness treadmills, which even included a built in fan. 3) I in the men's restroom, they have those portable hand dryers that are motion sensored, but they can't have motion sensored urinals and sinks? I hate touching things and nobody bothers to flush the urinal because you have to touch the handle so when you go to the urinal it reeks the of pee. 4. The most expensive thing I think is the personal trainer. The training sessions are once a week and over $100 I think it's $140 for a personal trainer, once a month. I think that's a little too much for once a week for a month if you ask me. I would have considered if it was $100 a month for once a week, maybe... I'm wondering why no one addresses the daily issue of guys using the mirror in the locker room (…read morelockers visible right behind mirror) and the mirrors that are like 4 foot in front of toilet stalls over the sinks for selfies on their phones and even setting up tripods to film themselves ( not sure how they aren't capturing others in these videos as we walk or dress behind them) though CFX website says this is not allowed. No signage in locker rooms and when I asked the manager if they have a policy against doing this he said no. Asked several other managers at their other facilities and no one said there was a policy forbidding use of phones or cameras in locker rooms. Seems pretty obvious they don't care about the expectation of privacy one has in a locker room / bathroom even if the selfie session unintentionally captured someone changing for example. And no corporate phone number available to members or employees to contact them regarding any issues. It comes across sketchy.when you email them with the address given by multiple employees, no response ever given. Honestly if it wasn't so convenient to visit I'd quit. Corporate shows lack of respect for its members.
