Cypress Cove Family Aquatic Center - Alligator Alley at Cypress Cove

Cypress Cove Family Aquatic Center

When I still had my kids living at my house, we used to purchase season passes to Cypress Cove…read moreevery year. Everyone in my family loved the place. As my kids got older and went through high school, we stopped buying the passes because they weren't interested in going to Cypress Cove on a regular basis anymore. So, I hadn't been there in years. In July 2024, my wife and I decided to entertain some younger relatives by taking them to the waterpark. Low and behold, the water was so cold that nobody could stand it. The kids' lips were BLUE, they shivered uncontrollably, and they struggled to have any fun. They didn't even want to stay after only a few minutes. You KNOW something is wrong if young kids want to quickly leave a waterpark on a beautiful, hot summer day! We asked the Cypress Cove staff about the shockingly cold water and they revealed that ever since COVID, the park stopped heating the water in order to save money. They flat out don't operate the water heating system anymore, it's been deliberately mothballed. Say what? What kind of water park doesn't heat the water? That's totally unacceptable and I've never experienced such a thing - EVER. Every water park or public pool that I've ever been to in my 50+ years of life has heated the water so that it's comfortable. My family won't even consider returning to Cypress Cove until we hear that they've resumed heating the water like normal. The only thing I can appreciate about the situation is that the Village of Woodridge, which operates Cypress Cove, is conscious of keeping its spending down for the taxpayers. But there are much more sensible things to cut from the city budget than heating the water at the town's water park. That's ridiculous.

This place is amazing! The water is warm,Life Guards Are excellent. I totally recommend.read more

Note: This review covers swim lessons and a birthday party rental…read more Goldfish Swim School does a wonderful job of teaching kids how to swim. That's their bread and butter. But they also do a fantastic job at hosting parties. They are a top notch facility and staff. For swim lessons, they offer 25 min classes at no more than a 4:1 student:teacher ratio. The kids progress along at their own pace, leveling-up when they're ready (could be after one week, one month, or longer). No matter what, the environment is kept fun yet challenging. And the instructors are all very welcoming, accommodating, and encouraging to the kids. For parties, they do an absolutely wonderful job. For a total of two hours (~2/3 in water, 1/3 out) they are as engaged as you want/need them to be or not. After getting all kids safely into the water they ran them through some fun games and then let them swim for a good amount of time with full-access to all toys/floats. After drying off, the kids ate (food needs to be brought in) and had cupcakes (provided). All decorations, setup/cleanup, and goodie bags were provided. It really was a delightful experience that was driven home by the fantastic staff. We couldn't be happier with the swim instruction provided and the recent party we had here at Goldfish Swim School.

The managers Bryan, Josh, Jose, and Ashley are outstanding. The facility is clean and the pool is always warm. I'd recommend this workplace to anyone with swimming experience like myself, or if you enjoy working with children!

I just joined here a few weeks ago, and although I haven't tried everything that the club has to…read moreoffer what I can tell you is that it has everything I need... and more. I joined this club because I have been a high-end fitness club member for many years. When I moved here from California, I tried the LifeTime in Burr Ridge and quickly quit because the place was so filthy and crowded all the time. Forced to take some time off due to a medical issue, I began examining my gym options once again in the area. Score Sports down the street from my house wouldn't even answer membership inquiries (I filled out two), I didn't like what the Country Clubs in the area had to offer, and Five Seasons didn't seem like my vibe. I walked into Midtown and immediately saw that it was a great place for me to get my workouts done in an environment I'm accustomed to. The other bonus is that I don't have to pay extra fees for childcare, which added up big time at other gyms between my four children. Do I wish they had a well developed hot power vinyasa program geared toward master yogis? Yes. But what I'm really here for is the weight room, the fact that I have a spot I can do CrossFit WODs on my own, or I can join a variety of classes from spin to Pilates if it works with my schedule. This gym is a lot smaller than the gym I was a member at in California for many years, but I like the fact that it's a bit more quaint and exclusive. People are really just here to workout, just like I am. I like that. I'm not at the gym to be social, I'm there to achieve my fitness goals. As an aside, their Kidtown allows food from the Cafe to be ordered and delivered to your children. This means I can come around lunch time when the kids are out of school, feed them lunch, AND I GET TO WORKOUT! The only caveat is that because my 8-month old isn't walking yet, the kids can only stay for 90 minutes. But when the little one is walking I'll have 2 1/2 hours of freedom -- and that to me is priceless.

PROS: The staff! Really their best asset is their friendly…read morestaff members who get to know you. This includes wonderful trainers who can take you from zero to hero as far as someone who NEVER works out, to someone who can develop a fitness routine. Programs: Lots of great programs like Tennis-In-No-Time, swim lessons for kids, and as I said before, great trainers you can book to achieve your personal goals. Tons of equipment to choose from in a bright, open space. Some regulars you can get to know and learn techniques from. CONS: Pool area feels too "open". Don't need peep windows all around the pool. I felt weird swimming in there so I never did. Close it off. Management change up/corporate vibe. Don't let you even hold your account for a month now (even though they used to). It's a pricey, luxury gym with clients that pay more to get more so making people jump through tons of hoops to hold a month for travel, work, etc doesn't gel with that vibe. If you give a months notice this should allow plenty of time to adjust staffing. You have to pay extra for a lot of stuff, so in order to use a lot of what really makes a gym like this worth the extra $ in the first place, you have pay EVEN MORE. Otherwise you are mostly utilizing equipment, classes, and such that you can get at other gyms for way less.
