The tropical fruit salad with chicken is my favorite thing to order at Castalano's. You get a giant salad packed with fruit, greens, chicken, cheese, walnuts and a container of poppyseed dressing. It's very filling and delicious but is pretty pricey ($20 for a salad and iced tea). Make sure to get there early for lunch as the small parking lot fills up quickly. read more

"Did you try the Tropical Salad?" That was the first thing out of my sister's mouth when I told her I stopped at Castalano's Deli on the way into town. That's the same thing my uncle wanted to know when I mentioned it. I did, in fact, get the Tropical Salad with chicken based on the recommendation of the waitress. Apparently it's one of the most popular menu items and for good reason. It's sweet and savory at the same time with mixed greens, strawberries, mandarin oranges and pineapples topped with walnuts, cheese and grilled chicken. It comes with their in house made poppyseed dressing. So. Freaking. Good. The space is nice and casual with lots of outdoor seating options and they also do catering. When I'm in Houma again I'll be back to try more of their menu. In the meantime I'll be thinking of that salad! read more

Bought a whole muffaletta. Overpriced at $22.95. Three thin slices of meat, two slices cheese with olive salad. Mostly bread sandwich. Had to remove top half of bread and fold bottom half just to eat. My last visit here for sure. read more

We travel around so we are always looking for a good local place to eat. Castalano's did not disappoint. I had a Tuna Salad, the Tuna was tasted fresh and was seasoned perfectly. My sig other had the Tuna Sandwich and he also was impressed by the fresh and tasty tuna served. We got our food to go on a Thursday night and it appeared everyone's order was to go that night, the service was a little slow, but worth waiting for. read more

It had been a while but I ventured out to Castalano's again and I was sure glad I did, I had the chipotle burger and it was delicious, fresh homemade lemonade for the beverage and we went during lunch hour and were in and out in less than 30 mins which makes this great place for lunch! read more

I went in at 11:15 and ordered one sandwich. I waited 35 min for my sandwich to be delivered. Their were only 2 other customers at the time I ordered. Multiple other customers got food before I did that came after. Their response was the sandwich station was very busy. I would hate to see how long it takes to get a sandwich on a actual busy day. I've been eating at this little place for as long as it's been open. You walk-in and place your order at the counter and they deliver to you. Drinks are self-service. The decor is a bit plain but still it's clean and neat if a bit sparse. The food is consistently very good. I often get the Tropical Salad with grilled chicken. It comes with marinated, grilled and diced chicken on a bed of mixed greens with seasonal fruit: strawberries, pineapple, kiwi and so on. It also comes with a very good poppyseed dressing. The muffaletta is excellent (and I grew up in New Orleans, near the quarter and could walk to Central Market for the original). It's hard to remember all the other items I've tried over the years, but I can honestly say I've never been disappointed. The seafood is also quite good. Finally, they do catering and takeout. I went with the strawberry spinach salad with grilled shrimp. I was not disappointed. I would have preferred a few large shrimp versus a bunch of the tiny shrimp, but for the price that was expected. I was worried about the dressing being too sweet but it was very balanced and complimentary. The spinach and strawberries were fresh, and there were plenty pecans and feta. The parking lot was completely full, but the restaurant was only about half full, which is strange. read more

I have ordered take out with Castalano's multiple times. Their food is great, but they cant make a to go order come out in less than an hour to save their life. 3 salads took them 45 minutes. Chicken Alfredo took an hour because they had "a rush" with their small restaurant less than half full. I even saw the cook come out from the kitchen to "chill" as I was waiting forever. I usually eat at Castalano's all of the time and enjoy their fruit salad but the last time was aweful. They gave me the wrong dressing and it tasted awful. Also my chicken was overly salty. I felt the salad was not worth the price. My boyfriend got the poboy shrimp and it was also terrible. They left the tail on the some of the shrimps and it was not peeled properly. The shrimp was also very salty. Both of us did not finish our meal. I felt as though the cook just dumped a can of salt all over our food. I'm just trying to enjoy my meal, not get high blood pressure. 40 dollars both down the drain. I ended up driving to the next fast food restaurant because i left very hungry. read more

Grabbed some lunch with the parents here. Got the plate lunch, which was meatloaf, mashed taters, corn, salad, and a pistolette. The food was pretty good, but the pistolette was amazing. 8/5/17 As employees of a local hospital, after giving much business to them, we were told today that we were not allowed to place to go orders with multiple people and have one person pick up. Today is a Saturday, we are not fully staffed but had 5 different orders to place with the option of only one person leaving to pick up the food. This is a nice little lunch place that I think would please everyone. The ingredients are super fresh and you get a good amount of food. I got the Strawberry Salad and added grilled shrimp. There were plenty of them and they tasted great. I didn't like the molasses dressing at all but they will replace it with your own choice. In the past I've had the Veggie Wrap, Portobello Mushroom Poboy and Popcorn Shrimp Salad and all were fantastic. They do have healthy choices along with the not so healthy choices. Either way. Traveled to Houma for a short vacation and met a former classmate and her husband for dinner here, it was fabulous! For an appetizer my friend's husband asked if we liked onion rings, they liked them but didn't order them much because the order was big. When they came to the table I understood why, five adults ate as much as they wanted and we still had a pile left. Hand cut and batter fresh they were awesome. Myself as well as my traveling companions all ordered salad, I got a daily special "uptown salad" I believe, the freshest greens, cool and crisp, loaded with blackened grilled shrimp topped with fried green tomatoes and served with remoulade dressing, best salad ever! My friend got a fresh fruit with poppy seed dressing that was equally as good. A small place but well worth the visit, it is evident that a very high standard of excellence has been set here.
