The Trooper warehouse has a huge selection, with many beautiful things. Dave came out to measure and make the template and did an excellent job. He came out early and got things done so they could start on things. Henry was the project manager, and he was very quick and responsive when it was time to move on the project. I found the slab I fell in love with in March, put down a deposit, and they held it for me without a storage fee until December. Henry spent quite a bit of time with me in rearranging the template, found another stone that matched what I had, as we needed another piece to finish everything, and was very patient with my inexperience in knowing anything about picking out edges of counters. (Who knew what pencil edge was?!) The Georgia crew delivered things a week later. The 3 guys that installed things were excellent. They were very careful, and it was quite interesting to watch the process. They did no damage to anything in the house, installed the granite very carefully, and also installed my sink. I would highly recommend them. They knew this stone was very special and treated it as such.

We hired JRL to design and build a custom bar room in our home that involved breaking down a wall…read morebetween our family room and formal living room. We solicited several bids and decided to go with JRL because they assured us it would be completed by Christmas. As of today, it still has not been completed. Up until less than a week before Christmas he insisted it would be completed. It never was. If he would have been honest with us, we could of scheduled Christmas dinner at another family members home. The entire process has been a nightmare. Broken promises, no shows, excessive overcharges for items that should have been part of Jim's architects drawings (he hires his own) but conveniently left out so when you find out you need them (like GFI's, proper lighting), he can overcharge you. He will come in lower but price the lowest level of product - you need to be very careful here with him. This is how he comes in lower. Also, you DO NOT have to pay $500 for a quote. Do not let him talk you into this. He will tell you that he has this super duper design software package that will enable him to walk you through the design, open and close cabinets, etc. When actually is your basic CAD software that he doesn't even know how to operate and almost every general contractor has. If you are duped into paying it (like I was) he will then try to sneak in another $200 - $300 for an engineer that you never agreed to and should be his cost. He will sell you his services based on his expertise and accreditations. However, after the first check is cut, you will not see him again, ever unless you insist he shows up! He has a much less experienced person show up at your home to manage the job. ALSO, if you do for some reasons decide to go with JRL, PLEASE have an attorney review the language in his proposal/contract. Make sure you take out any language that pertains to paying his legal costs, paying for supplies he has ordered if HE cancels project (read this condition carefully), eliminate broad clauses that he has that allows him to upcharge you for increased costs, trash removal, take out no internet purchases for fixtures, buy your own fixtures and appliances, JRL marks them up considerably. By the way, I have never had to sign such a one-sided contract/proposal on any remodeling projects in the past and I have had several large ones. I should have known better but the promise of "done before Christmas" sucked me in. Do not agree to pay him weekly as "his" bills come in. There should be a percentage paid as the project progresses as other contractors do. DO NOT pay him the last installment until all the work including your punch list is completed. I held back an agreed upon $300 for completion of punch list. A week after my check was cashed; he filed a legal complaint for the $300, plus $6,000 in legal fees and damages due to business HE lost. Customer service is lacking beyond the basics. Ambiance is an order house for Hunter Douglas products and that is their cash cow (Dan, the owner, touts that). The business seems to be knitted together by a Dad owner who is mostly AWOL and a younger generation that are working their respective positions with great liberty around family schedules which the customer is expected to work with. Dan is arrogant and other employees (his adult kids) take liberties beyond a sales relationship when in a client's home. As an example, they took pictures of the installations without asking my permission. Dan marveled at the "old fashion" wall phone I have in my kitchen and made a big deal about it by taking a picture. They took blinds and roman shades off my windows and without asking removed them from my home. I wanted to donate them to charity. For some, I asked them to return them and they did. There was a sense that they were overly comfortable in my home. I work from home and scheduled installations around my meeting calendar. Often, they'd come early or flex their schedule and it become a distraction to my workday. They didn't call first, just showed up. Ambiance re-did all of my window treatments as I was upgrading after being in my home for 25+ years. I could have gone to other vendors for a Hunter Douglas product but I wanted a higher end experience with design consultation. This is a family run business. I learned quickly that my design "consultant" actually is the book keeper. Did I feel deceived? Yes! With my original installations, they went ok - minor nicks to walls and my hardwood floors and a nice gash to a mahogany chair. It took multiple trips to get extension cords for a couple of wood blinds and the right color putty for door shutters. The last putty job - some holes were filled and others were not so it was a sloppy job. These were all minor annoyances. The company doesn't schedule installations until after the product is delivered to them. This delays the e2e process even more. I had 2 products that arrived broken and that wasn't identified until the day of installation - more delays! But, for my last order and installation which were shutters on French Doors - my experience was never fully resolved and the relationship degraded. I had to cut my losses and move on with a competitor company. In my last conversation with the "designer," she was not answering my questions with accurate information I had received by actually contacting Hunter Douglas. I was trying to logically walk through the journey for the French door shutters and basically laid out how what I paid for was not what was delivered and the job was not complete after 6 months. There was one excuse after another but no resolution. She accused me of being a bully. The last absolute lie was that the shutter style ordered, which matches the rest of my house, didn't come in the cut-out modification I needed. If that was true, what's the reason I wasn't told that before I ordered it? I actually sent material to Ambiance that Hunter Douglas sent me with a write up of my shutter style and a picture with the cut-out modification. This was proof that what I ordered was available but not delivered. That's when I contacted Hunter Douglas to file a complaint and wrote this review. Enough is enough! Stay away from this company!

To make things worse this company appears to not have a PAHIC number which is required by the state to operate as a home improvement contractor. This is a major red flag coming from someone who ran a HVAC company if their own in the state for a long time. They also have been taking 50% deposits which is not allowed in the state under the PAHIC laws. Use caution using this company. Edit to add: The owner admitted to taking larger deposits than he should. Their PAHIC information is not listed as it should be and did not come up when searched by name, phone number, address or anything else. Their manager is a snot nosed punk who lies. The whole company apparently had issues and has been reported to the proper channels to ensure they are looked into and that they use proper tactics in the future. What makes this even better. You did not have a PAHIC number until I told you about it. I can see when you filed for it. Your company continues to lie and cause problems for itself.

I called R&R two weeks ago to look at it. They came out today (7/28/26) and replaced it free of charge. They stand by their work which is heartening given today's "customer service". Did I mention the opening at my house was during the recent heatwave. Had the window back in place by 10 AM.
