The rock type is Andesite lava & Rhyolite (I had to look it up). Really fascinating topography. Limited parking available at parking lot at main entrance. It is free however there is a donation box for the Napa Open Space District.

It's dog-friendly and one of the only trails I've been on locally where everyone has respected the rule that dogs need to be on leash at all times, which is nice. It's not typically heavily trafficked, and you can go miles without seeing another person. It's particularly beautiful in the fall when the vines start changing colors. Parking usually isn't too difficult. I recommend slapping on some sunscreen before hitting the trail and bringing a hat and sunnies because there's not very much tree coverage. It can get very hot during the summer, so starting earlier in the day is advisable.

Trails and even a swimming pool that's open on the weekends. The park is well-maintained, with clean bathrooms and a great atmosphere. It was our first time using the rooftop tent, and this spot couldn't have been more ideal. We're already planning to come back and explore more of the park!

Parking - across from the pizza place La Prima (Lake St & Lincoln Ave) or next to the Trailhead. No Bathrooms - just gotta pee in the off to the side of the trail or find a bush. We did the Lower Oat Hill Mine Trail & lunch at Holms Place. Then we went off trail cross country to Point Duff & had great views of Mt St Helena w/ fog under it. Pretty cool. We didn't go to Duff cave w/ platform, but saw a cave - I didn't go up to get a close look, others did. Started 9am, finished 3:40pm with lots of breaks. We did about 11 miles round trip. Advice: Go on a clear day or when there's 10% chance of rain or less. There were a bunch of crazy mountain bikers that don't tell you they are coming up or down so be careful. Didn't see ticks Sun 12/12/10, but saw them 5/13/07.

The park is overall well-maintained, with a gazebo, plenty of places to sit and a couple little monuments to view. There's plenty of shade from surrounding trees for those visiting in the peak of summer. I especially liked the little two seat tables that were perfect for lunch. I also appreciated that they had open and CLEAN, fully accessible public restrooms. This is after we were looking for a place to go in town and found everything, including even the visitor's center, closed to the public.

They had everything we needed... towels, washcloths, shower amenities. games, snacks, bug spray, plenty of water, feminine products, and the first aid items we ended up needing (for bug bite). We had a first few time zippers in our party, and the group, and at all times, my party felt SAFE! The guides make sure we were ALWAYS attached at all times (several straps) and followed the same process for each zipper, for each line. Also, my party appreciated the first "starter" lines to get us acclimated. For more experienced zippers, we loved the challenges (like touching trees and zipping sideways. This was worth every penny! I totally recommend tipping at the end in the gift shop if you feel so inclined.

She is an accomplished rider herself which doesn't always necessarily translate into being a great instructor, but in Erin's case, she is not only a talented rider, but also instructor. My 6 year old daughter absolutely loves her (and Katie) and counts the days until her next lesson! They have helped nurture a passion for horses. Erin really takes her time and is so genuine! She teaches horsemanship, not just riding which I think is so important. I have been around horses my whole life and have trained with countless instructors when I was younger. Finding the right instructor for my daughter was important to me. I wanted her to be able to build a relationship with her instructor as well as the horse. You don't get this at a lot of lesson facilities, especially for beginner riders. A lot of barns feel cold and very business like -- you get on the horse, you ride for 25-30 minutes and then go home -- not with Erin and Katie. I have never felt rushed. It is a totally different experience riding at her facility -- it is fun, educational, safe, and my daughter has gotten so much out of her lessons in just 6 months. I feel so lucky that a friend referred us (Her daughter goes to school with my daughter and was riding with Erin). As another reviewer pointed out, Erin is so gentle, yet not afraid to push a little in a good way. She has given my daughter so much confidence. My daughter has made so much progress thanks to All the Kings Horses. It is a whole family experience visiting Erin's ranch in Calistoga -- even my 4 year old has a blast! And we have all fallen in love with Erin's lesson ponies/horses! I can't say enough about All the King's Horses.

We were fortunate to fly on what Bob described as a nearly perfect day. Our one-hour ride covered about 12 miles, and the views were absolutely incredible. He explained that it can sometimes be too cloudy to see very far, but we could see all the way to the San Francisco Bay. The ride does start very early, so I would suggest grabbing a quick energy drink or going ahead and having your first mimosa so you can really enjoy the experience! You also receive a glass of wine afterward, and that wine was so lit! For anyone who feels anxious about taking a balloon ride, Bob's welcoming personality and calm, knowledgeable approach make him the perfect person to fly with. I felt comfortable throughout the entire experience and would absolutely recommend him.
