Just attended a wedding here this past weekend & it was perfect! All of us bridesmaids stayed the night at the house before the wedding & enjoyed mimosas all morning while getting ready in the bridal suite. AVOID!!! I don't think that I have enough time right now or enough space on here to throughly explain all the issues that I have had with the event venue. First off, it is extremely overpriced! I was one of the last brides before they practically doubled the price. And brides paying the new price, get the same stuff as the ones who paid a fraction of the cost a few years ago. Be very, very careful that you carry and review your contract!!! They wil try their best to not include what they have promised or make excuses as to why they will not follow the contract. Also, be warned that her family basically runs the place and may live there while you are having your wedding. My bridesmaids and I came into the house to get ready and her grandchildren were playing in the pool. Their clothes were on the bed we were using that night. GROSS! DARLA IS A NIGHTMARE! She is the event planner. She is very, very rude! My caterer, cake maker and photographers all emailed me with issues that they had with her and her family who helps run the place. Each of those vendors refuse to work with her or work with Castleton Farms again! She was also very rude to my mother, bridal party and my disabled father. She made fun of him for his need of the golf cart and his difficulty walking. NOT what you want on your wedding rehearsal day. We were also promised the use of the basement (groom's quarters). My future husband was excited for him and his guys to hangout and have a great time. When we arrived, Darla told us that her brother would be staying in there over the weekend, and they were to find another place to go. Lastly... this is a fun one.... After our guests left after the wedding, my husband and I retreated to the honeymoon suite (very pretty, only good thing). Darla decided that she did not want to wait for the rest of the rental payment and interrupted us... ON OUR SPECIAL NIGHT! Payment was not due for another 2 weeks. read more

Our experience with Castleton Farms was beyond excellent. I was planning the wedding long distance from Los Angeles, which could have been a nightmare, but the Castleton staff, specifically Darla and Christy, were there for me at all hours any day of the week, providing the ultimate support in whatever capacity I needed it. The venue itself is magnificent, straight out of Southern Living. I looked at venues in LA, New York, Nashville and in East Tennessee; Castleton was my top choice because of its physical presentation, the excellent reputation of its planning and production services, and its geographic nearness to my elderly family members. It was the total package with multiple gorgeous venues on property (we had the whole property for the weekend, but there are various packages and a good price range), built in wedding planning, superb day-of production, as little or as much hand holding as you want, and a selection of established, quality vendors who already have relationships and extensive experience with the property. I was looking for a venue similar to South Carolina's Boone Hall Plantation; Castleton Farms blows the Boone Hall Plantation out of the water. The thing that most impressed me was the Castleton staff, particularly on the wedding weekend. There were 9 million details I should have already worked out but hadn't, and the staff bent over backwards to make sure that all 9 million of those details were worked out and executed to perfection. Christy was absolutely amazing; she is a superwoman in the world of wedding, always there when I needed anything but magically also in 30 other places at once, effortlessly clearing every potential disaster like she was born to do it. The golf cart drivers were on their toes, shuttling grandparents and older friends and family around the venue, and the security was absolutely incredible. I cannot recommend them more highly; they went above and beyond in every way. The staff service and staff coordination were absolutely impeccable. Darla, the Executive Director, is the heart and soul of this venue and is the genius mastermind behind the magic that is Castleton. There was no issue too big or too small for her; she earned my full confidence months before the wedding and solved every problem I had before I even knew I had it. She runs a very tight ship and is worth a thousand times her weight in gold; she is the force of nature that sets this venue above and beyond any other. I could not recommend this venue more highly, and I can also heartily recommend the following of the vendors they use: All Occasions Catering (Kelly blew it out of the water, was the best vendor contact we had), All Occasions Rentals, Waldorf Photographic Art (Shawn was awesome). If you are looking for great music, I can also highly recommend the harp trio we used for the ceremony, Farr Horizons, and the bluegrass/country band we used for the reception, WestWend. read more

Darla and her team were so helpful throughout the process in helping to build our dream day! She was one of the best wedding planners ever! She helped with every detail from the colors, to the cake, food, flowers and music. Our expectations were truly exceeded! We chose the Woodland Garden at Castleton Farms which was just picturesque. What a shame that CASTLETON FARMS is one beautiful event center but the exclusive wedding planner is the only game on the farm! The staff is quite incestuous--her sister cleans the facility, her husband takes care of the grounds, and her daughter is the make-up artist (honestly they all seem good)--but Darla is the most inhospitable wedding planner--for a southern style plantation, there is NOTHING of southern hospitality that she has to offer. Our party booked the event for over a year in advance, and Darla double-booked the same weekend. She writes nothing down and acts as though she has everything under control during the process. I could go on, but primarily she is a "yes" person during the sales process and then you find out how much things really will cost after the contract has been signed. If you're going to book for a southern style wedding, Castleton Farms is the place--but the wedding planner won't be the person with manners. read more

We do I begin, It's Almost been a Year since My Nightmare at Castleton Farms, and almost a Year later I am still very upset. All I can say is do not waste your money to be treated so poorly By Darla, she act's like she has everything under control, but for some reason with all her experience she or her staff could not manage to line of a a maid of Honor and 1 brides maid in order, The Package deal Let's see there is nothing included in the 7,500 Package everything is a upgrade, I didn't get the So called experience in her office,My Grooms cake was misspelled, Wedding cake airbrushed and Ugly the flavor to both taste like Bisquick, The facility, Had mold growing on the ceiling, around chandler, My Guest had to wipe off the seats that where filthy before sitting down, The staff Lost our Marriage license and ring , for a while, then Darla Proceeded to Trash talk me to my own family at my wedding. all she is concerned about is her False eyelashes and designer shoes, that she was so apt to tell about Maybe had she put as much time into my wedding as she did Vacations and 3 other trips and her personal appearance, I would not be a year later still in rage and tears for being ripped off by her. You would think this beautiful facility with there huge concrete Urns in May would have had something in them. even Darla herself after our wedding said we need to get ferns. Umm should have done that before the wedding ! Please People do not get sucked in by the beauty of that place and Propped Photos or the 50 K and up weddings you see on there website. if you have a budget I promise you will get a trash can Like I did at the end of your wedding Isle. There are other beautiful places to have a wedding and Im sure you well not have to suffer the emotional stress the Darla puts on you, Nor be talked about by her to her Vendors, I even have a group email they forgot to take me off the conversation where I was being slammed by Darla's Photographer. so to sum it Up I paid Big $$$$$$$$ for nothing and to be talked about and what should have been the happiest day of my life I can honestly say Id rather look back on a car wreck with fond memories then this wedding.
