I'm always up for an adventure, (as if my eye thing wasn't adventure enough) especially with any of my girls. Sure enough I said as she pulled into Treasure Village. Right from the get go I knew this place was going to be good. It had that musty smell. You know that smell when you walk into grandma's old house? Come to think of it, when I was young, and I first smelled that smell, I thought that it was grandma. But I soon found that It was old gold just waiting to be rediscovered. After poking around a bit I stumbled upon a real cool huge glass bottle. I've always wanted one of those. I said "hey Missy, check this out" I know, she replied as she was talking to a clerk. She spied it before I did. She was attempting to negotiate the price to a more favorable proposition. The clerk said that she'd have to call the gentleman who is selling it. So we went on with our treasure hunt. This store has a lot of twists and turns, ups and downs in it. Stuff is everywhere. Search closely to uncover a special find. We did and we found. I lost track of Missy somewhere in the labyrinth of rooms and aisles. When we met up again it was by the front counter. I asked if she heard from the seller of the big bottle. Missy said "I sure did daddy, happy father's day!" That girl made the deal and I am now the proud owner of a 13 gallon glass bottle. I love that girl! What am I going to do with it you ask? I'm going to fill it with coins of course. My 5 gallon bottle is full. Quick Tip: Be careful going up and down the stairs going up to the second floor. The steps are about half as wide as normal stairs are. I told my granddaughter that they were like this because back in the day women wore hoop skirts and had to go down the stairs sideways. Oh grandpa she said. Those are my favorite words.

Needed to just get some guidance and maybe some assistance in reframing an 8x10 photo. Brought in an old frame with me. I've done this here before with wonderfully helpful staff. Not today. I had the misfortune of drawing Nina as my customer service rep. Explained what I needed and Nina couldn't wait to tell me "Okay, that's gonna be $40 for a refit." Explained I didn't need a refit...just some help getting my photo snugly fit into the frame, with maybe a sheet of backing cardboard. "Well, you brought your own frame so the charge is $40." I tried explaining again...with no change in attitude from Nina. Short, dismissive, abrupt with me...exact opposite of the last time a customer service rep patiently and professionally helped me in this store. Adios, Hobby Lobby! And Nina...you have a very bright future in killing retail sales.

This place is packed every weekend with people from all over the country buying goods, but…read morepersonally I like driving up to the Amish farms and buying from them individually (my other review details a sample of some of the many items can buy: all sorts of baked goods, veggies, crafts, furniture, you name it! ) Most of the farms are scenic and beautiful, many with long driveways, stands set up, at least one I've been to has a furniture warehouse set up in the barn with the most beautiful furniture. The Amish want you to drive up and buy from them (cash or check obviously). Many of them are as friendly as can be. I just don't know why everybody would want to cluster into this Amish country mall environment on the bland main drag when the fun is driving on the scenic back roads and up to the farms and seeing how each Amish family lives. But I admit I've only whipped in and out a couple of times so maybe there is something I am not getting; everyboy seems to be having a lot of fun. But I just love driving around to all the different farms. Ethridge is so interesting and affordable; I plan on selling my place in Nashville and moving here one day.
