I took two pair of lounge pants in to be hemmed. When I arrived, I spoke with the young lady and…read moretold her they just needed an inch and half taken off, and that they were bought at Walmart for $14. I explained that I was hoping to not have to pay too much to hem them, as they were so inexpensive to begin with. She stares it would be $24 for both so I thought that seemed fair enough considering these are no thicker than pajamas. When I went to pick up the pants they were $52. I was shocked. The sweet lady at the front counter called the owner and he said that that's what it cost. I explained to him on the phone that that was not what I was told and he said he would watch the video and get back to me. I have yet to hear back from him. I told him there's no way I would've ever dropped those off if I knew it was going to cost that much money to hem $14 lounge/pajama pants. That is just absurd!Clearly the nice young lady who helped me when I dropped them off misquoted me, and he didn't even have the decency to honor what she had quoted. Nonetheless, I left without my pants. If I were you, I would steer clear of this place. The young lady and the older lady who worked there were both very nice, but the owner was very rude on the phone. I find it terrible business practice to not honor what was quoted.

The lady who works the counter is very friendly and personable, and my dress was cleaned to my satisfaction. The issue I had was that I told the lady at the counter that I was a new customer when I dropped off my dress, and when I went to pick it up and pay, she said she couldn't accept my coupon because I didn't let her know I had it when I dropped off the dress. She didn't let me know that I needed leave the coupon with her when I dropped off the dress, nor was there a sign and it didn't say on the coupon that I had to present it at the time I dropped off the item for cleaning. It would have been helpful if she had asked if I had a coupon, since they're pretty free about giving them out, and she was aware that I was a new customer.

This shop is worth rating 100+ stars, so just know, only 5 doesn't even come close to its…read moreamazingness. Wanda (the store owner) is a seamstress queen. If you walk into her shop, you'll see aaaall of the photos of dresses and wedding dresses she has worked on. Personally, I purchased a Val Stefani Wedding dress off the rack for a ridiculously cheap price. I'm talking, under $1000 when the dress was originally almost $4000. But here's the catch...the dress was a size 14 and I am between a size 2-4. Ok, I know what you're thinking. And yes, stupid described me wonderfully at that present time. But a deal is a deal so I set out on a hunt for the best seamstress in town. Good news...FOUND HER! After she got over the initial shock of how much work needed to be done, she smiled and said...I'll see you back here in about 2 months for your first fitting. Well, I came back a few times and let me just say, each time the dress was more gorgeous than before. She accommodated to changes, hand-sowed beads back into place, and I took this dress out the door right on time for my wedding! The price? I didn't pay more than $400 for alterations. But let me say this: Wanda became more of a friend to me than anything. We sat and talked, I vented my wedding planning woes, we laughed, and she always pointed me back to what matters. I still come into the shop, even 4 months after my wedding, just to say hello to her. Like I said, she becomes more of a friend than anything. And I have to admit, although I really want to learn how to sow, I like always having a reason to come into her shop to support her business and to talk to my wonderful new friend! Ps: I attached some pics of my wedding dress after it was all finished. I wish I had "before" pics, but she took the dress from a size 14 down to a 2...so needless to say...she did a phenomenal job!

Jessica is very personable and professional. I didn't end up pursuing work with her quote but…read morewanted to sing her praises about the quote process. I will keep her in mind for future projects. Clearly she's running a great business because she's booked out for several months, so my advice is to ask for your quote at least 6 months in advance of when you need the item. Jessica is very transparent about pricing and timelines. User-friendly software clearly displays the total line-by-line, and the total aligns well with other similar quotes I received. Jessica charges fitting fees to compensate for her time so that you can cross alterations asks off your list and bring down your total if you're happy with initial or minor changes. She is budget-conscious and wants to give you the best result for the lowest price. Jessica has a philosophy that she doesn't make decisions about your alterations but rather equips you with information for you to decide what aligns with your priorities. Jessica seems conscious and supportive of all body types and levels of modesty, for example when she explained options for potential bust cup alterations. Jessica helped me understand the alterations industry more broadly, including common pitfalls and bustle types. She gave business-related tips like getting quotes in writing and understanding fitting fees/guarantees for exclusive work prior to going to a business. Her personal choice is to vet clients over the phone first to ensure a good fit prior to bringing your garment to her. Others may have you in for a fitting before quoting or exchange just over email. I learned so much from her over one phone call and loved her genuine communication style. I initially got her name from a local seamstress based on the type of garment I had. I'm not surprised Jessica has a great local reputation among peers in the Nashville area!
