I've been taking my kitties to Dr. Coker since about the time she first opened the doors, and wouldn't think of taking my furry little babies anywhere else. Is she everyone's cup of tea? I suspect not. I personally adore her, but I'm weird. Think Chihuahua in human form, crossed with a Marine drill sargeant. But she totally gets my cats, we have wept together when one of mine had to go bye-bye, and she can talk to me any way she likes because I know there's nobody who cares, or knows, more about my kitties. read more

Dr.Coker is extremely rude, had a terrible attitude. I will not be going back. I asked what breed my kitten was because she's was a stray and I was spoken to like I'm an idiot for even asking. Will not be going back. There's no reason at all to speak to people that way. Act like a professional, treat other people with kindness. So uncalled for and not necessary. read more

I don't recommend this place at all. We took a neighborhood cat in to be neutered and some other medical issues. Dr. Coker was VERY RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. When we asked about prices for certain treatments she said "This is a business." "Not a shelter". I found that comment very rude. I can't believe a Dr. that loves animals would say something like that. I will NEVER go there again! I told her that she didn't have to be rude and her response was oh well! read more

I love this place! Have two cats and one of them is a real pill! She spits, grows, swats, and cries like a baby. I am embarrassed to take Smokey there, but they treat him like a king even though he has an attitude problem. They take time to talk with you and I love the doctors. I've been a cat mom for 15 years and lived all over the country and overseas with my two kitties Zero and Pippin. We're finally stopped moving and been with the cat doctor for 5 years. I have never had better vet care than with Dr. Coker and her staff. Everyone on the team cares about your cats as if they were their own. A few years ago when I lived in San Antonio and one of my guys had bladder stones. No vet could figure out what was wrong with him, they chalked it up to Zero being a mental case. Fast forward to two years later, and several different vet visits later, with a move to Shreveport, Zero got so bad that I had to put him in emergency care over the weekend. When the cat doctor opened they saw him immediately and identified the problem. The team saved my kitty's life and he's been back to his loving self. Not only does the team satisfy cats health care needs but the clinic also has boarding available. My cats are old and set in their ways; however, it doesn't matter if they are there for a short or long stay they always enjoy their stay, are well taken care of, and come back so happy! And if you are a cat lover, you will also appreciate that the team has cats roaming all around the front part of the office. read more

Please do not bring your cat to this clinic. I tried and tried to get in to see Dr Coker and was always told no or you can drop off you cat. Didn't want to do that. Day came when it was time to say goodbye to my 18 1/2 cat. Again could not get an appointment with Dr Coker. Ended up with her partner. She had one job to do and she messed that up. She ended up putting a needle in my cats heart because it was still betting... stay away!! read more

I'm a proud owner of a gray tabby cat and it was a huge relief to find this place for her. The staff is so friendlyl and they truly love cats. It was a pleasant surprise to receive a behaviour report card after boarding our cat there for several days. It was my cat's first time staying away from home and was concerned and curious how she would handle the new environment. The staff made a daily note to show how she was doing. When I first learned about this place, I was wondering if the cost would be higher because of they are specialize in feline. To my surprise, it was very reasonable price - I think it was a couple of dollars cheaper than another nearby vet where they boards dogs or cats in large cages. This place has multiple story "cat townhomes" so that your cat can jump up and down. I also appreciated that they would take care of your cat for a few days after a surgery until it gets better and needs close observation. I know that my cat would be in good hands whenever I drop her off here, so I strongly recommend this vet for your cat's medical and boarding needs. read more

For my cat's initial visit to check out eye, the vet opened an older textbook and said she thought it was melanoma of the eye, but showed us a picture of glaucoma. She then talked to us for 30 minutes about anything but my cat's condition. Upon our second visit to get booster shoots, the vet techs were completely unprofessional by sticking my cat several times. When they couldn't get the stick they ask the vet to do it. The vet yelled out that she wasn't going to do it and they needed the practice. read more

Had very Sick kitten that needed emergent help. Was told they could see him in 2 days. Had to use another vet. My poor baby had a 105 degree temp. She needed antibiotics and fluids. My kitten wouldn't be alive if I had waited 2 days to see "the cat doctor". Shame on them. read more

Oh man, how I miss Dr. Coker and her wonderful staff! I recently moved to Austin and I haven't been able to find a better vet. My two cats Biscuit and Rusty were treated so wonderfully there! The first time I brought Biscuit in he escaped from his cat carrier and hid in the office. I was so embarrassed but Dr. Coker just coaxed him out and went to work. Oh and Rusty weighs about 16 pounds so Dr. Coker showed me this ball where he chases it to knock food out. No diet food here, just exercise! :) I've also left both cats there while I was on vacation and received a full report complete with moods "feeling playful, shy, wanting petting". My cats stayed in a townhouse so they could be together. I really like the office setting too, if you're a cat lover (which you most likely are if you're stopping here) you'll appreciate all the cute little kitties they have wandering around. As for costs, well I would pay anything for my cats because I'm one of *those* people but they are very reasonable and will give you estimates on the phone. Overall my experiences have been wonderful and I hope I can find a vet as awesome as Dr. Coker down here! read more

They followed through with requests and treated Sammich and me like family, even after we moved out of state. I can't thank them enough for being so kind and so professional. If you have a cat, or kitten bring your cat or kitten to this veterinarian! Dr. Coker and her staff here are the BEST! They saved my cat's life! Seriously! If you have a female cat, you must get them spayed for obvious reasons, but besides that, they can develop an infection in their uterus that can kill them! I did NOT know this! I had been putting off getting my cat spayed for financial reasons and she developed this infection that almost took her life! The Cat Doctor saved my cat's life! I'll say it again, The Cat Doctor saved my cat's life! I am forever grateful to Dr. Coker and her super and very capable and caring staff! They are the best! They specialize in cats and that's all that they work on over there is cats! It is a great place for cat lovers! It is a cat haven over there! I love it! They are even open on Saturdays until noon! Most of the staff is amazingly wonderful! A great group to have around to take care of your fur kitties! However, I have a couple complaints about the vet docs... 1.) I made my kitty's "death" (euthanasia) appointment at least 2 weeks in advance, but when I arrived I was made to wait after a non-urgent appt. I waited over 20 mins before I saw Dr. Coker. When she finally showed up, she seemed very rushed and in a hurry to tend to something else. She asked if I would wait another 20 mins or so. After 2 wks of my euthanasia guilt weighing on me... I said no... I could no longer wait. I had to leave... ended up leaving my furbaby with Dr. Coker so she could "manage this" at her convenience. 2.) A VERY SERIOUS complaint... Even though The Cat Doctor is more expensive than other vets, be expected to pay extra for euthanasia. I've had to put down many pets over 30+ years, but this was the first time I was ever charged for it. Needless to say, I was very surprised by an unexpected $70 bill. Even with the great care they provided, I felt let down by these issues. I hope they revisit their policies. Suggestions for The Cat Doctor... - Don't leave people waiting for a scheduled Euth.-unless it's an EMERGENCY! - Charge everyone an extra $2 per visit so no one has to be billed for Euth. - Reduce overhead expenses so your clinic isn't this expensive. read more

But onto the real reason for this review- this is the place to bring your cat, if all other vets have failed u and your pet, bring your cat here. The dr is smart, funny and caring. Dr. Coker and staff are dedicated to your feline and it shows! I wouldn't go anywhere else with my cats! I'm so happy that we have a "dedicated cat vet" here because I know they have the latest and best information to help my feline babies. And I thought the prices might be higher because it is a specialty practice. I was pleasantly surprised to find that their prices are in line with most other vets. read more

This is only a first impression review, but so far so good!! The office staff was knowledgeable and helpful. I was able to bring in a fecal sample for my freshly trapped feral kitten instead of having to stress her out bringing her in when she doesn't even trust me yet. I was willing to call several vets to see who'd be the most helpful with this as stressing this little baby unnecessarily was not an option for me. Luckily, The Cat Doctor (my first choice) was willing to do it for me. They seem to understand the needs of a stressed out feral kitten and actually care enough not to give her unnecessary anxiety over a fecal sample. I was surprised that during the time I was filling out the new client paperwork, the veterinarian was able to run the test and come out to speak with me about the results (coccidia) and treatment. The vet, Dr. Durci, was very kind, easy to talk to, and seemed to care a lot about the work she does. She seemed to be very knowledgeable and confident in her expertise as well. Having seen and worked for multiple veterinarians over the years, I was very pleased with my first impression of her. Then comes the bill.. I get nervous every time I go to the vet because I do a lot of my cats' preventative healthcare myself and I don't want to be charged for extra things that I don't need. That was not the case today. She explained exactly what I was getting and why. When the bill came, instead of feeling that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach because it's far more than I expected to pay, I was pleasantly surprised at their competitive pricing. I expect I'll be coming back to these people next time I need anything done for my little angels. read more

Dr. Coker and her staff are the best around. When one of our furkids got sick we had took him to other vets and we were treated very badly. We were told to come get him as there was nothing else they could do, they had left him in cage to suffer a few days so they could get our money. We had heard about Dr. Coker so we took him to her. She was very informative and compassionate. She told us that the humanely thing to do was put him down. She was with us as he left the world. Her and her staff sent us a sympathy card a couple of days later. We have never had a vet who truly cares like she does. I cannot say enough nice things about her or her staff. Please if you have furkids that you love like children and want the best possible care then take them to her. :0) read more
