I almost hate to say what a hidden gem this place is in case it starts having no vacancy when we want to come - but a place like this deserves to have its praises sung and I'll just have to make sure we plan ahead. This is our fave quick getaeay from San Diego - and it's our third stay at the Cat Mountain - twice in the Inn building and once at the Lodge building across the road. I don't think you can go wrong with either building or any room!! All the beds have been comfy, everything clean, great heating or A/C as needed, free parking, GREAT grounds to walk around, explore and relax in. My husband especially likes how dark the property is for stargazing on a clear night. The property is quiet, comfy, nice communal areas, shared fridge, cookie jar, microwave. Be sure to take leisurely walks and relax outside in all their nicely set up lounging areas. And for breakfast or lunch...right there across the street, or a short walk down the road is the Coyote Paws Cafe. Included in your room rate is a $15 voucher per person that goes toward your meal. We usually come in just under or only owing a dollar or two, plus tip - what a deal and soooo much better than the big box hotels and their cheap powdered eggs, high carb, greasy buffets. This is a sit-down, simple but yummy cafe and everyone there is working hard and attentive.Sometimes, it can get busy, but even with a short wait, we are in/out in just over an hour or so. In 15min or so, are in the heart of downtown Tucson. But it's sooo much nicer to be out by the mountains, cactus, and peace and quiet. We come for the Gaslight Theater live shows...and if Cat Mountain was full when we would try to reserve, we would choose another date to see the show as we truly don't want to stay anywhere else but here when we come to town. A good place from which to visit Saguaro National Park which is only 15 minutes away. This is important as you want to go early before the temperatures get hot. Stay in the Inn, not the Lodge. Inn rooms are comfortable and clean. Nice coffee area with refrigerator, coffee, ice, sink. No food. Nice fire pit at night. Manager is helpful (thank you Debbie). Not too convenient for exploring the city of Tucson and its cuisine. About a 30-40 minutes drive away. No good restaurants within a 10 minute drive. But for visit to Saguaro National Park, it's perfect. read more

Stayed here for two nights in the Sierra Madre room. Very spacious, very clean. The ledge rooms are set back enough from the road that we couldn't hear a thing. The Arizona room was stocked with coffee, water, and cookies. It had a very homey feeling. Staff was great, I really wish we stayed another night. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

Stayed in the Frida room two nights this March. What we enjoyed about our stay was... *having a restaurant that provides breakfast directly across the street. You get $10 voucher to this restaurant per day per person with your stay at the lodge/inn. It's a decent breakfast place that also serves lunch (closes at 2pm). Note: food options very limited in this part of Tucson unless you like fast food. *the room was very clean and decorated in such a fun theme. I kept finding new things to look at. Even the hallways are festive. *the fire pit out back can be used by guests. Grab a bottle of wine and do some star gazing. *the TV with Hulu, Netflix etc in the room. After a day of hiking in Saguaro, one feels the need to rest the feet. *the close proximity to Saguaro National Park (west) and the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum. Highly recommend as I felt other accommodations in Tucson were a bit boring, unoriginal and in noisy areas in town. read more

We like to travel w/ our dogs, so look for quality B&B's that are pet friendly. Found this searching Google Earth. We stayed there one night March 9th 2020 on our way to Arlington, TX. We were quartered in a room titled "Old Mexico" which was across the street from the office. Ample parking and a nicely gated entry to welcome us. We arrived around sunset, and as we entered through the gate, we found a very pleasant Spanish style open air interior courtyard garden. The rooms were situated around the interior perimeter that was tastefully decorated to enhance and evoke a welcome and relaxing experience. Our room was also pleasantly decorated, very clean, and inviting. This innkeeper has quite a sense for design and furnishings, and provides each customer a memorable stay worth come back again and again. What an incredible find! Gorgeous property, I can't say enough about how well done the design and creativity that went into creating the vibe here! Everything has been flawless from check in, room accommodation, excellent management of property and surrounding grounds. This is the place to get away for solace and it's close to everything! We drove to Tombstone, Bisbee and Elgin and came back here to just enjoy this place. My mornings were magical, made coffee in the communal kitchen, sat in the patio area outside our room (again, SO charming) and walked the grounds to hear nature all around (a few cars driving by in the background too, but not too distracting). The breakfast across the way (vouchers provided) is really good, I had the corn beef hash, eggs and Mesquite blueberry pancake, my husband had the biscuits and gravy! We ate/drank at Tiny's bar down the road which was a unpretentious, relaxing hang with great wings and burgers and best ribs (meaty, falls off the bone)!! We will absolutely be back and will tell EVERYONE! read more

Can't say enough!! I stayed for about 10 days while I was getting an instrument rating down the street at Ryan airfield. The days were early and LONG!! It was so nice to come back and just relax, sit outside for the sunset, then bed early for the next way too early day. A few of the days I was able to grab breakfast across the street and use my unused vouchers for lunch. The crew there was great too, they made me lunch while I ate my breakfast. I read one of the other reviews on food in the area, yeah, nothing but Circle K close by. When I finished my exam, Kerrie asked how I did and I said, "Because of the accommodations, I passed!!" They were all sincerely cheering me on all week, it was so appreciated!! My last night, I slept in and went to the restaurant at 11a to thank everyone. Bought some very cute items at Buffalo Exchange and the local artist store, then headed out to meet my family for Thanksgiving. I'm coming back with them, to relax next time & to see the great people who make it all work. Thank you all!! read more

I really like Cat Mountain Lodge & Roadside Inn. We live nearby and when we have guests visiting us we always put them up there. The rooms are decorated in a Southwest theme with lots of very nice items. My friends always rave about the rooms. Each one unique. read more

I stayed at the Lodge and Inn recently and was not disappointed. Gorgeous grounds and rooms. The staff were friendly and warm. Tons of wildlife around the property. The food at the restaurant was delicious every day. Check out the artwork made by local artists on the wall at the restaurant. I came home with one! I cannot wait to go back!! We love the Roadside Inn! We have stayed here a few times and at the Cat Mountain Lodge. We prefer the Roadside Inn. It's a little newer, and full of character! The rooms are beautiful and there's so much space for hanging out with a cocktail, both in and out of the room, both indoors and out. The inn is situated right next to Saguaro NP so there are beautiful vistas that you can enjoy right from your patio. This is a pretty perfect bnb experience! read more

We stayed at Cat Mountain Lodge for 3 nights & found it wonderfully unique & enjoyable. The room was comfortable & artistically decorated. Each room in the lodge opens onto a shared courtyard that is beautiful. The outdoor spaces around the lodge are a beautiful desert garden perfect for enjoying a drink while the resident Cooper's Hawk watches from a nearby branch. So many blooming plants that bring in the hummingbirds. We enjoyed the nature trail in back where we saw deer, rabbits, quail & other birds. We had weak WiFi in our room but found that the common room, called the AZ Room, had strong WiFi. This common room also offers coffee, cookies, plates, glasses etc for the room guests. I would love to return to the lodge again. The location is perfect for the Desert Museum & Saguaro Nat'l Park. Try the cafe within a few feet of the lodge, Coyote Pause. Everything we had at Coyote Pause was excellent & far exceeded our other dining choices. read more

We are taking Spring Break trip to Tucson in a few months. I read some good reviews about this place and was really excited to stay here. The website would only let me reserve the room we wanted for two people even though it sleeps six. I reserved the room and called to let them know we have 3 kids. They said they don't allow children in that particular room and they didn't have any other availability for our dates so we're just out of luck. We really just needed to have a place to sleep as we will be out exploring the National Park. I am not sure what they thought my kids were going to do in there...I am incredibly disappointed. read more

True Southwestern Hospitality I had the pleasure of staying at Cat Mountain Lodge on South Kinney Road for my week-long vacation to Tucson this past October. It is located on the west side of the Tucson Mountains, just a few miles outside of Tucson and with very easy access of the airport. If you are traveling to Tucson primarily for city sights, this may not be the best place to stay for you, since it is approximately half an hour from downtown and on the other side of the mountain ridge. However, if your destinations include Saguaro National Park West, the Sonoran Desert Museum, Tucson Mountain Park, Old Tucson Studios, Kitt Observatory, or any of the many other west side attractions, this is a great home base to start from. The four guestroom stucco Hacienda-style Lodge is unassumingly gorgeous to those with an eye for this style of architecture. The decorative iron gate both greets and protects lodgers: the innkeeper keeps it locked when she is away. Small surprises like the relief painting of hummingbirds and mice on a vine around the gate continually greet you as you walk the immediate grounds. The warm and welcoming courtyard is in bloom year-round. I had the privilege of trying to eat a beautiful fruit off one of the 5-foot tall cactus growing inside. The rooms surround the courtyard, with a covered walkway around the inside. Each room has a double glass French door: mine looked out onto a tiered fountain which I enjoyed listening to in the evening. Every room has a private bathroom with either a luxuriously tiled shower or tub, and each room has its own hot water heater. A small closet with several hangers also houses a mini-fridge. I think I would have enjoyed access to a microwave, either in my room or in the common room. The four rooms all have locking connecting doors with each other, so parents could easily bring children and be able to keep an eye on them. Keep in mind, however, that boisterous or tearful younger children may easily disturb other guests in such a cozy inn. The Mission room where I stayed is very spacious and meticulously clean, with lovely Indian rugs over a stained and sealed concrete floor. A high ceiling and clean white walls add to the feeling of space, though a curtain or scarf at the window would soften it. The Mission room is decorated in a theme of the Spanish Catholic Missions, which primarily means an abundance of metal crosses hung on the walls. Other rooms are decorated with other themes, including the Ranch Room and the Fiesta Room. The largest room, with two queen beds, is Spencer's Suite, named after the owner's late husband. Breakfast is provided through a voucher to the Coyote Pause Café on the property, just steps away. I enjoyed choosing breakfast each day from a full menu, and yet being able to go in my PJs and slippers (watch out for cactus!). While not fancy, the food is hearty and relatively healthy. Fairly quickly, I got to know the friendly staff there and was treated like a "regular". This review would not be complete without paying tribute to the lodge's on-site manager and innkeeper, Angel Jackson-Slye. Angel is one-of-a-kind and exemplifies true hospitality. She left a welcome basket in my room upon arrival, and invited me to the common room for popcorn or cheese and crackers each evening. Whenever I was leaving for the day or coming back, she was right there to see if I needed anything. She kept my room spotless the entire time. When I had to spend one day in bed with the flu, she offered me tea, cocoa, soup, or whatever I wanted, and also knew when to leave me alone. In my time there, I felt like I gained a new friend. I'm sure the owner knows what a gem she has in Angel, and I hope that anyone who stays there will take some time to get to know her like I did. In summary, I highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast to anyone looking for a more quiet, out-of-the way location with the comforts of home and yet an authentic Southwestern setting. The rates are reasonable and the service is beyond compare. read more

Loved this place so much I hate to write a review that might help others discover it. We stayed for just one quick night in order to visit the Sonora Desert Museum on our way through AZ, but I am making definite plans to return with friends and/or family. It's incredibly cute and comfortable, and the staff are lovely and kind. The landscaping is maintained by a retired landscaper who used to work for the Desert Museum, so it's quite gorgeous. I thought the location was great--close enough to Tucson for a quick drive into town, but quiet and beautiful out in the desert. Plus close to other attractions like the Desert Museum and Saguaro National Park. Great if you like both city and outdoors stuff. Bonus: there is a consignment shop on the premises with some amazing stuff, as well as a art gallery co-op. And the cafe (open for breakfast and lunch, I think) is fantastic. Hop into downtown Tucson for a good dinner and you're all set. read more

My grown daughter and I had a very pleasant stay. We enjoyed the shops on sight except for the paranoia by one of the shop owners telling us we would have to leave because my daughter let her mask down to say hello to shop owners dog. But otherwise we had a great time. Which was good since so many things like the wildlife and many restaurants were closed due to COVID. This was in October 2020. read more

They have done a great job in decorating landscaping this place and in appointing the rooms with very kitschy and cute decor. The bed is super comfortable and the small bathroom was nicely done. All rooms have an exterior door to a patio area the length of the building. The interior is a wide hallway with a common room open 24/7 for a snack, using the computer, a late cup of tea, etc. We arrived late and there was still someone waiting for us which was thoughtful and very helpful. I can see myself returning here. However, there are two things that could be better and it would then be perfect! #1. they advertise a complimentary breakfast when it's a voucher for $10 which covers MOST of the meal at the cafe, which is good by the way. (not really that big a deal but I did expect a paid for breakfast) #2. The Roadside Inn side of the place probably used to be a commercial building with shops/offices and I couldn't help feeling like I was in a dormitory because the door knob is not like a door knob to a bedroom (I'm just being picky but I had to recheck the knob to make sure I had really locked the door), plus the door leaves a rather large gap at the bottom where light from the hallway enters, not to mention that if the Inn were full, I would have been able to hear everyone in the hallway and they in turn may have been able to hear me in my not so private room. It wouldn't take much to put weatherstripping at the bottom of the door like they do in bathrooms at my office so one can feel they have the privacy they need. read more

I was attending Wild Wild West Con a few miles away from here, over the weekend. I have to say this is the first Bed and Breakfast I have ever been in. But please know this, I am a fan of the Cat Mountain Lodge, it's quiet, and very restful, the grounds are gorgeous, and I will be back. read more

A very beautiful and relaxing place to stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful, our suite was beautifully decorated, the grounds are lovely. If you need to decompress, this is your place. Quiet and peaceful at night, we felt we had the whole place to ourselves. Close to many attractions. No coffee maker in the rooms but one in the common room is ready to go for whoever turns it on first in the AM. We brought a little coffee maker with us. There is a mini fridge in the closet. Pretty small but enough for a few things. Would be nice to have access to a microwave. The food at the restaurant is excellent, but it is not open for dinner. Ice is available at the office. Only drawback to the Sierra Madre suite was the thermostat was located in the office and we did not have control, but the staff adjusted it for us and all was well. Non-scented products in the bathrooms. The place is very eco-friendly. Would definitely recommend. read more
