A must do in Catalina! Took a day trip to visit the island for the first time, and so glad we decided to book a zip line tour. Great way to get into nature without hiking, and had so much fun zip lining! Kaitlin and Kyler were fantastic guides and kept us engaged and safe throughout the entire trip. Big kudos to them for getting everyone across the finish line, and being the nicest people. There were five lines in total, each with unique features to keep it exciting. Our group was about 8 people, and we each finished a line before moving to the next. There were a few people in the group who were very nervous or had a fear of heights, much made it through the whole tour, so I wouldn't be discouraged if you've never gone zip lining before. Overall had so much fun and learned some facts about the island. Would highly recommend this tour, it's worth the money! read more

I love zip lines which is the best way to get an aerial view of the place you are visiting. I have done it locally and abroad a few times, the Eco tour so far is the best with attentive staffs and vigorous safety checks. I apologize for not remembering their names, we had a kind woman and an energetic young man as our guide. They explained the process in details and accompanied us on the whole journey. I felt safe and well cared for. The lady guide made an effort to remember all our names which was so sweet! Highly recommended! read more

My military reserve unit has been on standby for deployment. I've looking forward to this trip for the past month. I had to reschedule my zipline journey for the past month as well. Excellent zip line tour. Extremely safe and professional. Easy to reserve and change. I totally reserved the wrong one and a simple email later was able to change it to the right now. Unfortunately they gave me one less ticket than I asked for but a phone call fixed that quickly. Easy to find and park in their lot. Easy to check in. The tour guides are so nice and had lots of facts about the plants and animals. All of the lines were thrilling. They gave us a discount because one of the lines was under maintenance. This is definitely a must do on the island!!! read more

I rate this as one of my top 10 scariest experiences in my adult life and wanted to back out while going up the hill in the black jeep but what was I going to do, be a pussy and back out? You guessed it, I went through with it and was completely terrified. I wasn't technically afraid of heights but the craziness of being that high up and jumping off a ledge was not in my Jewish bloodline. Haha. Needless to say, I did it and would not repeat ever again. read more

My daughter wanted to zipline on Catalina Island for her 30th birthday so I happily booked it. My husband, daughter and I have wanted to zipline for so long. It was a cold rainy day and pretty windy but we toughed through it. We also had a father and son in the tour with us so it was a small group. Our tour guides Sam and Matt were amazing! They made us feel confident and at ease. They were so funny, laid back and friendly. There were 3 birthdays on this tour and all 3 had the #3 in their ages,(13, 30 and 33!) We called it the "Birthday Tour! We look forward to doing it again in the summer when the weather is better. read more

Abby & Nicla were AMAZING guides, so professional yet friendly and so fun! My 1st time and I was so glad I went. We took the Catalina Flyer over (left Newport at 12 noon/back home at 830pm) walked to the end of the strip, had lunch, then walked up to the Zip Line entrance. There are free lockers to put your stuff in, no need for a backpack during the zipping but a small one, you can fully zip up, works for water and phone, if needed. BOAT TIPS: Bring a thick sweat shirt/jacket, hair ties, if you want to sit outside, don't eat if you get sea sick, take something 30min before, while you are standing in line, take the trolley from Hoag or somewhere free to the port because parking is $40 at Newport (free from Dana Point). There were 5 lines and the most incredible views ev-vah. You will NOT be disappointed. It is kinda fun to step off that first time and realize you have a comfy swing to glide to the next stop. The whole operation is very interesting and these girls are STRONG! Completely 100% safe, so if you are iffy, get over it, you can't mess it up, these girls got you, and you are right now missing out on an amazing, amazing, amazing time! After we were done and saw our pictures from the Zip Cam (haha I made that up :), a cute deer family was grazing just in front of the entrance. One strolled past us as we were awestruck how calm they were around people. We chatted and laughed the whole time zipping. The girls made it so fun! Thanks so much Nicla and Abby. We had so much fun! After the 3rd one you already feel like a pro. We had a small group and our instructors were Nick and Danny. They were absolutely amazing and professional. I never felt unsafe and they checked our gear every time we were about to fly. They used the radio to keep communication with each other and everything went very smooth. They even had to 'scold' a few people that weren't playing by the rules. Now onto the fun part. Danny's bulge was poppin' and I'm pretty sure Nick is 'fabulous'. No problem at all with either. A friend in my group kept flirting with him and he just ignored her. I told her his mustache was a dead giveaway but to each their own. He was probably thrown off because of Danny's bulge in those man shorts he was rockin'. Again, no problem with this as both guys were professional and cool. But Danny knew what he was doing...getting those extra tips. read more

I was going to give 4 stars, but I'm giving 5 because of the incredible people who helped us zipline. The men working there are true gentlemen, funny, charming, caring, and full of amazing personalities. I loved their energy! The only downside was that the lady in the little shop handling our photos and videos wasn't very helpful or friendly, but I'm not letting that ruin the experience. Everyone else was fantastic please tip them, as they work hard in the heat and make the adventure so much fun. I'll definitely recommend this place for the good people and great vibes! read more

Came on this past Friday, June 6th. We were the last tour of the day, and our zip guides were Avery and Nick. They were very kind and patient. It was my first time and I was very nervous. They cracked jokes and had us all feeling chill the whole time. A person in your group even grabbed a eucalyptus leaf while going down on the zip. Highly would recommend this to anyone thinking to be adventurous and try something new. Although a bit pricey, it was quite long and I really felt we got out moneys worth and the guides did have to do quite alot of work. Loved it! read more

Horrible and Unsafe Experience - Avoid This Place We had a terrifying experience at this zipline park. One of our group members hit their forehead on a protruding metal piece due to poor safety design and suffered a deep 1-inch cut that required stitches and Tdap. Blood was pouring out on-site, yet there were no medical staff or proper first aid--just an alcohol wipe. We stopped the activity immediately, but back at the check-in area, we received no support, no apology, and no accountability. The blonde female manager was extremely rude, dismissive, and just pointed to the waiver, saying, "We don't do refunds here." It honestly felt like we were being talked down to because we're Asian. No empathy, no help--just cold, heartless management. The instructors were kind, but management was awful. If you get hurt here, you're on your own. I've attached photos of the injury--please think twice before visiting. read more

Before we even got on the open air hummer, he was very upfront that the ride would be bumpy and gave solid advice on where to sit if heights make you uneasy. That actually made me more nervous at first, but it turned out to be totally fine. The hummer never gets that close to the cliff edge, and it always felt controlled and safe. The views are unreal!!!!!! seriously breathtaking. We were lucky enough to see 2 bison, 2 Catalina foxes, 2 does, and a young buck. The tour before us saw zero bison, so we were thrilled. We even got to see them up close, which was incredible. As for the ride itself, I didn't find it nearly as bumpy as people make it sound. There were a few spots where the height felt a little sketchy, but in a "whoa" way, not a "nope, I regret everything" way. All in all, I'd absolutely recommend this tour. Don't let dramatic exit speeches scare you off, you'll be glad you did it. There's blankets available on the hummer in case you get chilly. Tips: - bring cash. On a one day visit to Catalina Island, there is so much to do, see and eat…read more To start, rent a golf cart or wear good walking shoes because this port is not too big for tourist exploration. There is also a "Circuit" ride share that will take you around the island for $2 per person. Coming in by tender from a cruise ship is great. The docking area is in town and so close to everything. I exited the tender and walked along the waterfront where I passed a few children's playgrounds with a pirate theme. Then on to where the golf carts are rented. I walked to the pier (Green Pier) where there are bathrooms and many small shops all hoping for the tourist business. They carry the typical port souvenirs. After a long walk on this short pier I got to the end where there is many people fishing with poles and the little set ups they will sell you for a few dollars and the bait too. There are plenty of benches to sit and watch the boat come in and out of the harbour. There is a small beach area that has lots of pretty colored little rocks along the shoreline. The walk to the round Casino Building is pretty much the end of the road before a mountainside resort. I passed by some waterfront restaurants that were even crowded on a cloudy day. My walk back to the tender was quick and the ride back to the cruise ship was also pretty nice and calm.

We booked a tour once to see bisons but didn't get to see animals cause it was raining. The tours we went by ourselves were much better! We saw many wild animals including bisons! The interior vineyard is so beautiful. The trips were very enjoyable but a bit of too much sun for me. Wear sunscreen and a hat to prevent sun exposure! Keep in mind that it takes 20 years to be able to buy a real car on island. Only one golf cart is allowed per residence. There are no spaces for real cars and more golf carts in Avalon. Our family and friends live here so they have a real car to take us to interiors. Yes you will need a real car to do that! Avalon has enough restaurants and bars to hang out. Casino is also a movie theater to show older movies on certain weekend evenings. They offer tours of this historic casino too. They host NYE gala every year. Beach club is great for summer times. Museum is small but still worth taking a tour. Too bad the spa has closed down, we used to go there all the time. This island has so much to offer. It's the best place for a lot of fun just a ferry ride away!

It's a fantastic, quick way to get a layout of the island and soak in some great local history. The only real downside to note is that you aren't able to actually get off the vehicle to stretch your legs or take photos. Every picture has to be snapped directly from your seat in the open-air safari truck.

What really stood out was how perfectly Andrew balanced the experience -- he knew exactly when to share great stories and facts, and when to let us simply soak in the sights, sounds, and beauty around us. He never rushed us and made sure we had plenty of opportunities for amazing photos and genuine wildlife sightings. We truly felt like we were seeing the island at its best. The tour felt safe, well-supported, and action-packed, without ever feeling overwhelming. You could tell Andrew genuinely cared about everyone having a great time and walking away with memorable moments. We also saw a fox and bison! Since we were part of the 4,000 people coming onshore from the Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas, it was quite busy inside (assuming for the whole day) but the ladies seemed to be handling it with no problem. There are self-serve pamphlets for all the various attractions on the island. My brother's particular question was around getting info for the jet ski tour from Long Beach to Catalina. The guide explained that those originate from Long Beach, and that the jet ski tour guides here in Avalon provide one hour tours around the island. That was enough info to point us in the right direction, and we continued on our way.

I was slightly inconvenienced by the fact that I waited for 15 minutes at the small visitor center…read morewithout being acknowledged by the woman who was on the phone. A simple gesture of acknowledgement would have been appreciated, as I was in need of assistance. I understand that she may have been busy, but it would have been more professional to acknowledge my presence. I visited on October 10, 2024, between 10 and 11 a.m. I was surprised to find that the person working there was not providing any assistance. I picked up a few brochures and left.

WOW! and WHOA! and WHEEEEEEEEEE!!!! An incredible experience, made all the more sublime and rewarding by the patient, entertaining, informative, nurturing, and skilled tutelage of our able guides, Dan O. and Kjell (pronounced "Shell"). As one who suffers from extreme acrophobia, this particular expenditure of two hours of my life would not have been on any self-made agenda of to-do items for a visit to Avalon on Santa Catalina Island (for those who are curious, The-One-Who-Knows-Best in my life booked this without my knowledge and surprised me with it upon arrival at check-in for the actual Zip Line tour). Suffice to say, prior to the first "zip", I was terrified, and I'm not certain that such a word even begins to describe the trepidation I felt before taking my first plunge (of a mere 500 or so feet in length) across the mountain hilltops and over the plunging canyons. I won't even attempt to convey my fears as I stepped out for my second zip that covered over 1000 feet and appeared to traverse heights of at least 300 feet over the canyon floors. Yes, I was scared. At the same time, however, I felt absolutely safe. Our Guides, the equipment, the level of organization, and the over-arching atttention to detail and ever-apparent commitment to safety allowed me to face (if not overcome) my fear of heights. Simply put: I did it. And, I'm proud. It was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life, and I am grateful to The-One-Who-Knows-Best and Dan O. and Kjell for allowing me to engage in this act of surrender. Safety comes first here. Then guidance, then reassurance, then trivia, then entertainment, and then congratulations. In a nutshell? If you have two hours to spare on the island, you NEED to do this. Period. My suggestions? Bring a helmet-mount for an iPhone or other portable camera to shoot some video (I'll be doing this next time). Arrive early, as instructed (as a courtesy to all others on your tour). Ask for Dan O. and/or Kjell (the painful puns alone are worth the wait). Plan on spending a little post-zipping time enjoying Descanso Beach and the above-average (for Avalon as to cost-tastiness-quality-amity) food and beverage service at the Descanso Beach dining area. FYI, it's my understanding that Dan O. and Kjell provide guidance only during the summer months, as Dan is otherwise-occupied for most of the year doing the work of Angels (he's a math teacher!!!), and Kjell is working hard to obtain his own higher degree in math from USD (to follow Dan's path of giving?). My family and I went on a 1 day trip to Catalina Island. we are an active family and we enjoy active vacations. Not wanting to just sit around on a beach we planned the day with Zip Lining in the am and SCUBA Diving in the afternoon. This was our first Zip Line experience and it was FANTASTIC! Yes it is a bit scary at first. You have to push your way through the thought that you are stepping out onto nothing. But once you take that first step, you will never regret it. It is an absolutely awesome experience. Now, lets get to the Eco Tour Company. I can explain the experience in 1 word, FANTASTIC! We signed up on line ahead of time. I was a little surprised we had more paperwork to fill out when we got there but is was minimal. The employees were all very friendly and very professional. They provide lockers free of charge, and help you to them and hep if you need to load them up. We took back packs on our trip ot the island and two packpacks will fit in 1 locker. They are clean. The entire area is very clean and very, very nice. We went in the first group of the day, it was cooler and very comfortable. Our guides were Ryan & Christain. If you are fortunate enough to get these two guys, you wont be dissapointed. They were very friendly, very upbeat, very positive, very reassuring, very confident, made sure we all felt very safe, and most of all very patient. We had 1 erson in our group that had a very tough time taking that first step but they were extremely patient and helped that person through it. They answered all our questions. They were very knowledgeable of the island and answered any questions we had. restrooms at the sign up locations but no where else until you return. I recommend wearing jean shorts. Jean material is stiffer and I felt no tightness in the lower section (LOL). I was thoroughly impressed with how they check and double check your gear each and everytime you get ready to zip down a line. They work in pairs and these two guys are excellent. The one thing I really liked was not being hit up with that "hey, if you like our service tell us wiuth a tip" crap. That was never brought up and was not expected. You will not be dissapointed with this tour. ON those hot days, go on the early tour. It gets hot later in the day. We definitley didnt want it to end and will definitley go back. Make sure you have fun and scream like a kid! And as our two guides would say, "ZIP AWAY"! read more

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing an incredible ziplining adventure with a phenomenal company on Catalina Island. From start to finish, the entire experience exceeded my expectations, leaving me with unforgettable memories and a rush of adrenaline. I can't recommend this zipline company enough! First and foremost, I must mention the two incredible guides, Lexy and Emma. These two individuals truly made the entire experience exceptional. Their enthusiasm, knowledge, and professionalism were evident from the moment we arrived. Lexy and Emma made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable throughout the tour, while still injecting a healthy dose of fun and excitement. Their passion for what they do was contagious, and it was clear they genuinely cared about providing an amazing experience for each participant. If I ever have the opportunity to zipline again, I would love to have Lexy and Emma as my guides! The zipline tour itself was an absolute blast! We embarked on a thrilling journey through the stunning Catalina Island landscape, soaring through the air on a total of five exhilarating zip lines. Each line offered a unique perspective of the island, with breathtaking views of the ocean, lush forests, and picturesque valleys. I spent my birthday weekend soaking up the sun on Catalina island with my sister. My main objective of this trip was to ZIP LINE as I had heard so much about it. We were lucky enough to get the BEST tour guides: AUSTIN and PATRICK.... My sister and I were both smitten with Ausitn...absolutely adorable and extremely knowledgable. Patrick was equally adorable (PATRICK: YOU WIN...52 M&Ms IN A PACK!!!). They're also both quite the comedians - they had our group laughing our butts off the entire time. GREAT ENERGY! The adventure begins with a 15-20 minute tutorial on how the equipment works and what positions your body should take while zipping through the sky. Our guides were very entertaining while explaining all this (thank the lord!) and had my full attention. The next part of the adventure was the bus ride to the top. Our tour guides pointed out different aspects of the island (like the Wrigley house) all while cracking jokes and making us all laugh. Never a somber moment with those two! Then we arrive at the best part of the tour - the ZIP LINES! I was very excited about the whole adventure until it was my turn to jump.I must admit, I was slightly terrified... so I made my brave little sister go first. After watching her, a took a deep breath and jumped - assumed the cannonball position and flew to the other side of the ravine. EXHILARATING!!! There were 5 zip lines in total...all of various lengths. In between each zip line, Austin and Patrick enlightened us with a brief history of the island. Describing much of the flora and fauna... such as the story behind the buffalos. Our awesome tour guides even knew how the island came to be - it was formed through subduction (in case you were wondering). Overall - this was an amazing experience. We recently went ziplining in Catalina for my son's birthday, and what a fantastic experience it was! Our guides, Danny W. and Nick B., truly made the day special. From the moment we met them, their enthusiasm and humor put us at ease. They were not only professional but also really funny, which helped to lighten the mood and calmed our nerves before we took off. Danny and Nick shared so much interesting information about the island while we zipped through the trees. It was amazing to learn about the history and the way of life there! I mean, we found ourselves chatting about it for days after. It honestly got us thinking about whether we should consider living in Catalina--it's such a beautiful place, and just an hour away from the bustle of smoggy California! One of the best parts was watching Danny and Nick zipline ahead of us. It was impressive to see their skills and tricks, and it definitely made us more comfortable for our own turn. They made it look so easy! The hands-on instructions they provided really helped, and by the time it was our turn, we felt ready to take that "leap of faith." Overall, it was a memorable day spent with amazing guides and stunning views. I highly recommend trying this if you're looking for an adventure--a perfect mix of excitement and relaxation in a beautiful setting! Please keep in mind I would do anything adventurous! I have: motorcycled, skydived (twice), bungee (5 times), and ziplined in Puerto Vallarta, MX. Catalina Zipline is FUN! it's just a good time and good way to spend two hours in the sunshine. Anyone can do it. It's as comfortable as a fast long looooong loooooooong swing x 5 (five ziplines). For anyone who might want to know about what to bring: CAMERAS! If you are good with cameras, you can take pictures and video along the entire trip! I have a video of while I was on a zipline! (I wonder if they support the use of cameras because they want to promote while they are still fairly new??) As for CLOTHING: you will be wearing a harnest that tugs at your thighs and bottom. So you can wear anything from jeans to cargo shorts, just keep in mind they will rise because of the harnest. So short shorts?? Go for it, as long as your comfy. I wore tight athletic capris and a tank top, I was comfy. Some boys wore cargo shorts and kept pulling them down throughout the tour. ...the only thing I would have done different is brought my items with me because they provide free lockers, worn make-up because I was so worried it would involve a lot of activity and sweat, which it didn't. (that might be important to some girls, who want to look nice while on their mini-vaca). Worn a head band because of the daily worn helmet use. Oh, and I would have had a few drinks before.. a fun slight buzz to enjoy while waiting between zip lines. read more

I booked this event as a surprise 50th birthday present for my boyfriend prior to heading to Catalina and I was beyond crazy nervous. The thought of zip-lining from one end of a canyon to another with nothing but the canyon below you is a bit nerve racking and scary. This was the first time for me & my boyfriend zip-lining. Once we got to the top of the Canyon and looked across the first course my first thought was "Do I really want to do this", the view took over me. I was soooo nervous that I went first to just take the edge off. The group we had were all very cool and laid back and we all had a great time seeing that it was all our first time. I have to give a big thanks to Kevin A.K.A K-ROCK & Scott for being our amazing guides! They made the experience even more exciting for not just myself but my boyfriend as well, I like to thank them both for an amazing experience which was exciting. I am 46 years old and if I can do it then anyone can do it. I would definitely do this again if I have the chance. It was an amazing experience, with a beautiful view. Definitely do it with your friends for memories to last a lifetime. You only live once and why not live your life to the fullest. UNSAFE. AVOID. On June 3rd at 4:00, they allowed an overweight individual (exceeding 245 lbs) to use the zip line. Toby, the manager, on site went ahead and approved this. When they exceed the legal rating of their equipment they put ALL INDIVIDUALS AT RISK. My group was to leave at 4:30, there was a young gal, maybe 110 lbs who did not want to be part of the "weigh-in" process. I guess I can understand why women dont like to be "weighed in" in a such a public fashion. I mean this is not some boxing match and if you dont look like you weigh over 245 lbs, I cant see the problem. So TOBY, the manager, does not let this young gal on the zip line!! Unbelievable. They FORCE YOU to weigh in, YET if you are overweight, TOBY will let you slide (like the guy at 4pm) but if you dont want to be put on show for a weigh-in they wont let you go on the zip line. I will be filing a formal complaint because by allowing people that are overweight they are ruining the integrity of the zip line for others. And because they are so inconsiderate and rude to others users I strongly suggest you AVOID AVOID. Incidentally, for $90 the zip line really wasnt a big deal. It takes over two hours and isn't a lot of fun. I think you are better off doing something else on the island. read more
