My mom lives in Morro Bay most of the time and she really has had a hard time finding a place to get her hair done (both in Morro Bay area and her other home in Orange County). She sticks it out with people who really don't listen to her and she never seems to be happy with her hair. Fast forward to January 2025 when she called around from salon to salon but nobody had any quick openings. We decided to not worry about her hair and just go get some retail therapy. We passed by this cute little salon near the dollar stores on Quintana, she said that was one that she had called but no answer, however the sign now said open! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We walked in and Bibet welcomed us with a warm hello and started conversation with my Mom almost immediately as she was finishing up a client.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I listened as Bibet did a consultation with my mom and asked her SO many questions that really helped her get a feel for what my mom was looking for.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She even took pictures of the back and had my mom let her know what she thought (before and after). We both left there so very happy with the quality of friendliness of service. Bibet left her hair a little long in case she decided to have a perm. She loved her hair so much that she decided she didn't need one and went back so BIbet could trim it a little shorter. I honestly have never seen my mother so happy with her hair!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]My parents came back home to OC and my mom said she wanted to head back up to Morro Bay because she needed a trim... now THAT means she was happy!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She still looks forward to her appointments and Bibet has a client for life now. CANCELLED DAY OF MY SISTERS WEDDING! After calling 5 other salons I THOUGHT I was thrilled that Amanda was going to style my mom's and my hair for my sister's out of town wedding. I booked the appointment weeks in advance and an hour before the appointment I get a call from Amanda that she just looked at her books and can't do our hair but is coming in just to take care of a "regular" client. First off.....she just looked at her books, I don't think so, I had this booked for weeks. Second....don't call me an hour beforehand to cancel. She uses a product for blonde color that is much more gentle than products used on me in the past, which has allowed me to grow my hair longer since it's stronger now. read more

I wanted to give them a try for a walk in and they said a 10 min wait and I said ok I only have 10m to wait. I saw her tell the girl that was cutting someone's hair and she said OK. After 20m I left cause I looked over and she was just socializing with the person she just cut. I don't know but maybe she forgot, but how rude. At least say something after 10m or don't deceive in the first place and say it's 20/35m wait and then I would of just left and not wasted my 20m. I won't be catching any waves here. I recently found myself looking for a new stylist and decided to call Catch A Wave. After reading the most recent review and looking at the photo of the gorgeous blonde picture I decided to book an appointment with Kierstren. I had my color & cut appointment with Kierstren a week ago. Kierstren is super friendly and easy to talk to. I felt like I was spending time with an old friend, not someone who I had just met. She consulted with me about what I wanted and assured me that she could get my blonde with lowlights locks looking better in no time. Not only does Kierstren work quickly and efficiently (much appreciated), but she absolutely delivers! Kierstren left my blonde looking completely natural and left me with the exact color tone I was looking for. I love the cut too. I told her that I wanted it just a tad shorter, but not too short, and she ended up with the perfect length. What a wonderful experience. I recently had a big shoulder surgery and cannot wash my hair or do just about anything that takes two arms. I called and asked if it would be possible for someone there to wash my hair for me. They got me right in and they were very kind they only wanted to charge me two dollars I couldn't believe this. Everyone was so nice. Isabel washed my hair and did one of the best jobs I've ever had she took the time to wash it twice using her fingers to give my scalp a wonderful massage. However before Isabel even started washing my hair another lady ran over to let her borrow a waterproof cover for my shoulder. I couldn't believe how kind they all where..... Nancy did my hair and it is incredible I feel better than I have in years and it is truly the best hairstyle and color that I've had in as long as I can remember. I'm not just saying that either I have really fine hair and special needs to accommodate that hair. Generally people who color my hair tend to fry it and break it off Nancy did perfectly she cared for it the whole time make sure it didn't over process and really took the time to make sure the color was just what I wanted! I first went to Catch A Wave Salon around May or June of 2011, and had a wonderful experience with a stylist by the name of Jennifer. It turns out we had gone to the same high school, and we spent my entire appointment talking about the guys we were dating, and just fun girl stuff, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. She also did a fantastic job cutting my long hair just as I had requested, so I was 100% satisfied with my first experience. Over the summer I ended up getting engaged and planned an October wedding, so towards the end of September I called to schedule another appointment with Jennifer, but she wasn't available during the time frames I had available, so I ended up making an appointment with a girl named Nina. When I was making the appointment on the phone, Nina made it seem like I was inconveniencing her by only being available for a 5:45 appointment (I work til 5:30), even though their Facebook page says they're open til 7pm. I wasn't a fan of her attitude on the phone, but it was the end of the day, so I just chalked it up to her probably having a bad day. The day of my appointment, I got two missed calls from Nina, but no message, so I showed up around 5:35 for my 5:45 appointment. Nina could barely be bothered to say hello or introduce herself, and had a really poor attitude for someone who could potentially have me as a new client. I had my 7 year old step-daughter with me, and I had her sit patiently in the seating area. Just as I was going to sit in the chair, my daughter asked if she could come to where I was seated and sit with me, which Nina said was okay. As soon as my daughter came near to us, Nina snapped "NO KIDS in my area. I just DON'T like kids." At that point, I almost walked right out the door. I couldn't believe how rude this woman was being. But, I was desperate to get my hair cut, so I stayed (which I now regret). As she was cutting my hair, Nina wasn't saying a single word to me, and eventually took a phone call on her cell. Part of her conversation was about how she was just trying to rush through this one last appointment (me), so she could get out of there and enjoy her Friday night. I was absolutely appalled. She was talking on the phone as if I couldn't hear her. By the time she was done, I just wanted to get out of there, so I just paid her and left. She did an absolutely HORRIBLE job trimming my hair. All I wanted was an inch off the bottom, and to even my long layers up, and she completely butchered the ends. One side was about 2 inches longer than the other, and the layering hadn't even been touched. I will be going back to Catch A Wave because they have VERY reasonable prices, and it's conveniently located to where I live and work, but I will be sure to ONLY make an appointment with Jennifer, and will even rearrange my schedule if I have to make myself available at times that work for her. I will never EVER allow Nina near my hair or my child again, and I would STRONGLY suggest to the owners or managers of the salon to keep an eye on her. If she is even a fraction as rude and awful to other clients as she was to me, then she deserves to be let go. read more

i walked in a few months ago absolutely desperate. Kelly had the time to listen to my hair semi horror story. We looked through books for a new short hairstyle. I told her that I don't even take the time to dry my hair because frankly I don't have the time. She and Donna played with my hair and discussed it and came up with a hair style that TOTALLY ROCKS! I have been going to Catch a Wave for about a year to get my hair trimmed. I always make my appointment with Kaylee who does a wonderful job, although all the staff are very personable and talented in my humble opinion. The first time I went to catch a wave, Kaylee washed and dried my hair and I received a number of compliments. When I arranged an appointment earlier this week, I told Kaylee I would be leaving my new puppy in the car during the appointment as no one could be home to watch him. She responded that it would be fine if the puppy sat on my lap during the cut. So very nice! Especially for Mac. Kaylee really knows what she's doing and she is very sweet. I no longer dread getting a haircut. And the price is right! So convenient too. No trip to San Luis needed. read more

Kelly is a very personable lady. She's patient and helpful in finding and understanding what type of cut and style you're looking for. She doesn't rush through the cut to get on to the next person.
