No color pedicure. No cleaning under the nail. No buffing or cuticle care.
    Katie G.

FOR PEDICURE. 2 stars because the woman is pleasant. But the execution of the pedicure is approached like it is a pastime, not a job. There were 3 of us and the opinion was unanimous after we left. The situation made me a bit sad after thinking about it. Because there are 1 of 2 options that can happen in this scenario: 1) the person actually thinks they are doing a great job and are none the wiser or 2) they know their skill level and (lack of) dedication to their craft, and yet sell you on it anyways. For $40. And we still left 20% tips because we try not to be... Here is a list of observations you can see in the photos: - Paint only covers the nail partially, sometimes only halfway. - I noticed the base coat paint was so old it looked like applying glue. - No top coat was used. - Many times, clear coat or color that was applied to the nail hit another toe or went outside the nail. No nail polish remover was used to clean up the area. - There was no cleaning done under the nail. - There was no cuticle care. - The nail bed wasn't buffed. Not large grit or fine. Nothing. Anyways- it's Covid, it's rough out there. But do yourself a favor and don't come here for services.

We stayed here in the Big Sur room for 3 nights. We're celebrating our 30th year wedding anniversary and don't want to leave. Val, the lady running the place has been a pleasure and had a nice bottle of wine and flowers in our room for our special occasion. Room is spacious with a comfortable couch and seat overlooking the beautiful bay and rock. It's walking distance to everything. Windows open up to hear all the sounds of nature which include the seagulls and sea lions. Will definitely be back. Can't go wrong staying here.

STAY HERE! Forget the cheap chain hotels in the area , if you can stay at Front Street Inn & Spa you should! (Also don't book using booking.com, it creates issues) I booked the Hideaway Room for my boyfriend and I to celebrate his birthday. The view from the room is AMAZING, the commute to restaurants is AMAZING, and Val is AMAZING. It's super clean and the beds are very comfortable. The communication from Val throughout my whole stay was great and reassuring. We also got the opportunity to have massages by Don and Christina while we were here, also AMAZING and would highly recommend! We will for sure be back!

My husband and I spent our 30th wedding anniversary here, so worth it. Comfortable, great views, plenty of activities surround and Val the owner makes it a home away from home.

100% i would recommend this hotel. The owner was very kind and helpful. The view was BEAUTIFUL it was close to all the shops and beaches and morro rock . A great way to spend our anniversary!!

This small boutique inn gave us the most amazing view of Morro Rock and the Bay! Four windows span the entire front of the room and the view was outstanding! The room was large and spacious and besides the normal sounds you would hear when staying at a harbor, it was wonderfully quiet. Val was was the best hostess and would always respond promptly. We will absolutely stay here again!

I had the most wonderful and romantic weekend recently at the awesome Front Street Inn....I love Morro Bay --- it's SO romantic !!! The Inn is right on the boardwalk overlooking the ocean and the room was great and very cozy...my boyfriend and I had the best time watching the fishing boats and the sunsets over the famous Morro Rock... Spend a weekend and you'll love it ---- it made me forget all my stress of life in hellacious LA... Can't wait to get back for another relaxing weekend on the beautiful central coast !!!

This spa was absolutely amazing. Having a view of the Morro Rock while getting my pedicure done was just wonderful. I felt so calm and at ease after experiencing this spa. While Val did my nails I was able to gaze out and see the ocean with kites flying. On top of that we had a great conversation about life! Once my pedicure was done I was able to get a hydro massage, which you will just have to experience for yourself. The pedicure was just one piece of my experience, we also opted for a massage with Tellyn. She really knew how to get the knots out and accommodate my request. I was truly impressed. I've had a couple spa days but this one was memorable because of the personal service, wonderful view and the overall feeling of calm I had once it was all done. Thank you!

We were staying nearby at Lucia Lodge and needed a better dinner option. I emailed the front desk to see if we could get in (phone service is non existent at times in Big Sur but I did have WiFi at our room). They responded quickly, I got some cell service, and we confirmed our reservation for last seating at 8:30. Sydney at the front desk, great name by the way, also confirmed a $25 corkage fee for the special bottle we wanted to bring. We did the 4 course dinner and it was a pleasant surprise to have so many good choices with each course. I went crudo, soup, steak and panna cotta; the better half went with scallops, wood fired cabbage, steak and chocolate cake. We shared, all was divine :-) Service was on point, friendly and they never rushed us. We also bought a few items from the cute gift shop. The Morlet 2014 Cabernet I brought was incredible and a perfect match. Use lastbottle.com. I got this $300 bottle for under $100, well worth it to pair with this extraordinary meal. A beautiful setting, a beautiful meal, lovely service. They charge you automatic 20% gratuity, we added another 5% in cash. Highly recommended!!!

The personal bonfire and hot tub elevated the whole experience. The area was quiet and felt intimate. The complementary breakfast was cozy and comforting. We got the omakase as well with the alcohol pairing. A lot of the ingredients were sourced from the area which made it feel more unique. Some of the dishes were slightly on the fishy side, but other than that it was very yummy. I don't think I would recommend making reservations at the omakase unless you're staying at the resort since they do take stand alones. We were also greeting by a very large spider on the bathroom towels in the middle of the night but other than that we had a great time.

The reception was easy - the usual stupid liability forms to fill out - otherwise its nestled in a grove of trees and surprisingly quiet given how close to the road it is. The massage quality was on the higher end as one would expect, but what set it above and beyond was the 30-45 min soak in an outdoor private hot tub before your massage as part of the package. Definitely relaxed us before the relaxing massage and a relaxing hot shower afterwards. You just didn't want to do anything after that. A great experience and well worth it.

In a way, I was actually relieved to read some of the other recent reviews and realize that we weren't alone in feeling disappointed. I'll start with the positives. My daughter and I stayed here as part of a special graduation gift, and we were in Building F. While it is an older building, the beds were very comfortable, the air conditioning worked wonderfully, and our room was nice and quiet. The owner of the Secret Garden was absolutely fabulous and a bright spot during our stay. Unfortunately, the other employee we encountered there was not nearly as welcoming. Sadly, I agree with several other reviewers that the overall experience simply does not match the price point. Our check-in experience was awful, and overall we found the level of service from several employees to be very disappointing. The property itself is beautiful and has so much potential, but for the price, we expected a much higher level of hospitality and attention to detail. The hot tubs are also in serious need of updating. We visited the spa as well, which was just OK, but unfortunately found some of the young women working there to be surprisingly unfriendly and rude. I truly wish our experience had been different, especially since this was meant to be a special mother-daughter graduation getaway. It's a beautiful setting, but based on the service and overall value for the price, we would not return.
