Clean, private and located above The Patisserie - most delicious pastries ever. All the locals come here for their sweet tooth fix! The view of the Morro Rock and ocean is priceless. Great hotel, great location. There are only 2 rooms both overlooking Morro Bay. The owner is sweet and attentive. The architecture is really unique, the family designed and built the place. If you are looking for five star fancy, 50 inch TV, this is not your place. If you want quaint, quiet, homey touches, fireplace, Jacuzzi tub, fridge, microwave and reasonably priced, you can't get better. Walking to restaurants and shopping. Can't get much closer to the water. Great little Pastry/Cafe underneath. They also can do spa treatments, but book ahead. Plus thete is a hydromassage machine there too! Thank you Val! read more

We stayed here as a couples retreat. Very friendly owner who was very available and accommodating. She made us feel as if we were family. Brought us a dish of ice upon arrival for our drinks. We set up couples massages which were AMAZING. The view from the room out the FIVE large windows kept us mesmerized as we relaxed when not enjoying the beach, shops and restaurants. The private entrance was a plus! Fireplace heated room was a romantic touch. Telescopes available for sight seeing were nice. It was a very private and quiet room. FOR PEDICURE. 2 stars because the woman is pleasant. But the execution of the pedicure is approached like it is a pastime, not a job. There were 3 of us and the opinion was unanimous after we left. The situation made me a bit sad after thinking about it. Because there are 1 of 2 options that can happen in this scenario: 1) the person actually thinks they are doing a great job and are none the wiser or 2) they know their skill level and (lack of) dedication to their craft, and yet sell you on it anyways. For $40. And we still left 20% tips because we try not to be... Here is a list of observations you can see in the photos: - Paint only covers the nail partially, sometimes only halfway. - I noticed the base coat paint was so old it looked like applying glue. - No top coat was used. - Many times, clear coat or color that was applied to the nail hit another toe or went outside the nail. No nail polish remover was used to clean up the area. - There was no cleaning done under the nail. - There was no cuticle care. - The nail bed wasn't buffed. Not large grit or fine. Nothing. Anyways- it's Covid, it's rough out there. But do yourself a favor and don't come here for services. read more

Fantastic facial and fantastic massage. Hubs and I were able to get an appointment with Val for the facial and Christina for the massage. Val was just the right amount of chatty and I felt comfortable the entire time of getting the facial. She focused on my areas of concern, and was fairly gentle considering I don't get facials often and I have a fairly low pain tolerance. My face feels much better the day after, and with very little redness and a complimentary wax. Christina's massage was very relaxing. With the right amount of pressure, she gave a great full body massage including legs, where I feel like a lot of times, masseuses tend to only focus on problem areas. I loved the complementary directions of pulling and stretching that she was able to get on my back and glutes. Would definitely come back to get treatment again here. read more

We stayed here in the Big Sur room for 3 nights. We're celebrating our 30th year wedding anniversary and don't want to leave. Val, the lady running the place has been a pleasure and had a nice bottle of wine and flowers in our room for our special occasion. Room is spacious with a comfortable couch and seat overlooking the beautiful bay and rock. It's walking distance to everything. Windows open up to hear all the sounds of nature which include the seagulls and sea lions. Will definitely be back. Can't go wrong staying here. read more

(Also don't book using booking.com, it creates issues) I booked the Hideaway Room for my boyfriend and I to celebrate his birthday. The view from the room is AMAZING, the commute to restaurants is AMAZING, and Val is AMAZING. It's super clean and the beds are very comfortable. The communication from Val throughout my whole stay was great and reassuring. What a great place to stay while in Morro Bay. This small inn gives you a front row seat to the lovely harbor and a less hurried environment than other establishments. Both rooms have giant windows that face the harbor. Our room had a sofa that we could sit and watch the sunset. Our stay was quiet and peaceful. We were close to lots of restaurants and enjoyed strolling along the harbor watching the otters. I highly recommend. read more

This spa was absolutely amazing. Having a view of the Morro Rock while getting my pedicure done was just wonderful. I felt so calm and at ease after experiencing this spa. While Val did my nails I was able to gaze out and see the ocean with kites flying. On top of that we had a great conversation about life! Once my pedicure was done I was able to get a hydro massage, which you will just have to experience for yourself. The pedicure was just one piece of my experience, we also opted for a massage with Tellyn. She really knew how to get the knots out and accommodate my request. I was truly impressed. Like most of the other reviews, I am hesitant to write this as I do not want competition the next time I go to set a reservation, but Val and her staff really do deserve the recognition. I cannot fully express how much my wife and I loved this place. The room was magnificent. A cozy, home feel set up just right to maximize all the experiences Morro Bay has to offer during a romantic getaway. From the panoramic front windows framing the best of the bay and Morro Rock, to all the furniture being set up just right to relax and take it all in, the room was beyond fantastic. My wife and I spent a lot of our time in the room just sitting on the loveseat and taking it all in. The location is perfect, settled atop a small set of locally owned shops with the nicest proprietors. The bakery immediately below will wake you with cravings for their delicious French pastries, or if you want a more substantial breakfast/brunch then the Frankie & Lola's Front Street Cafe right next door is one of the best cafe type place I have ever eaten at. Val could not have planned better neighbors to help perfect the setting of her quaint inn if she tried. On top of all that the location gives easy walking access to all that the quaint Morro Bay downtown/waterfront has to offer, while being just off all the bustle that accompanies that part of town. The wife and I brought our bikes that made getting around that much quicker. As part of our experience, my wife and I also enjoyed a couples massage onsite. It was evident that Val takes time hiring the best Massage Therapists. Our specific therapists were obviously knowledgeable and skilled in their craft as they provided the best experience my wife and I have had during a massage. They asked the right questions before hand and had an intuition of just where we needed the most attention. My wife and I walked away euphoric and the most relaxed we have felt in a long time. In all Morrow Bay is my wife's and mine new favorite California Coastal destination. It provides more quaintness than any of the other coastal towns we have visited with not nearly the craziness usually associated with such places on summer weekends. If you have even the most fleeting of interest in checking it out I encourage you to do so as soon as you can. You will not be disappointed. read more

We've stayed at the Inn several times since my last review, so I figure it's time for an update. This was the first time in years that we were there in Summer, as we usually go in December and sometime in the Spring. The town of Morro Bay itself was of course more crowded - and maybe the 65* temps had something to do with it, given the sweltering 90s in nearby areas. But everyone was out for a good time during the day and mostly disappeared at night. The Front Street Inn itself is still as fabulous as ever: clean, quiet, beautiful views and it was nice to see Val again (the innkeeper). It's like dropping in on friends you don't see very often. And just for the sake of tradition, I left a tee shirt there - which Val has already put in the mail! read more

My husband and I went there for our 42nd anniversary. Positives: the view is beautiful, the room is a nice size. When we got there the windows were wide open ( no screens) and gave nice, fresh air. Negative: Fireplace is attached to the thermostat, which has to be at at least 74° + to turn on. The fireplace pilot light was not on; we asked Val to light it, and she acted like we were a total inconvenience. When I pointed out that was part of the ambience that we paid for she reluctantly lit it, and told us it was going to get too hot, and we need to close the windows. The next day when she came in to do the trash she told my husband that she needs to turn off the pilot light. He told he he would take care of it. Later when there were lots of flies in the room I asked her for a flyswatter and she acted like I was crazy and said she didn't know if she could find one. She said "don't worry the flies come in and they'll fly right back out!" I got to the point where I ask her are you against killing flies? Finally she brought me a flyswatter. The whole time we were there we felt like we were naughty children. I would not recommend staying there, and will not be back. Needless to say no flowers for us! read more

I received a gift certificate for a massage at Front Street Spa and I am SO happy I did! I ended up getting a massage from Tiff and she was fantastic. The massage was the day before my wedding weekend so it felt great to get some of that nervous energy out of my body. I definitely want to go back and see Tiff again! I'm always a little leery of day-spas tucked into strip malls, but we girls (on our "Thelma & Louise" trip down the coast) were mighty ache-y from all that ATV riding the day before, and this little spot was walking distance from our hotel. $70 for an hour-long massage. Great masseuses available on short notice. Friendly helpful owner who was working the front desk. None of the "oh, no, we only take reservations 2 months in advance" attitude - we stopped in early in the morning to make appointments, went for a run along the water, had brunch across the street, and came back for our massages. I also took a self-guided tour of the Inn rooms upstairs. WOW. NICE. Romantic. They are right on the street, but there's a view of the pier/harbor. Reasonably priced. I wanted to give myself a little birthday treat while away on my birthday weekend. So I set up an appointment for a manicure and pedicure for the Saturday afternoon before my birthday at Bay Beauty Spa. They called twice to confirm my appointment. I found out when I got there that they didn't think I was going to show since I made my appointment so far in advance. I almost didn't get there because I couldn't find the place. Google gave me bad directions, so I didn't realize that it is on the very north end of Front Street, past the kite shop. Once I found it (just to the right of the Front Street Inn), I sat down, picked a color, and Cami (sp?) started on my manicure. She was nice and we chit-chatted about this and that. Once my mani was done, we headed over to the other chair for the pedi. The "relaxing massage chair" was actually quite loud, therefore not very relaxing. But the rest of the experience was ok. I wasn't the best mani/pedi I'd ever had, but my nails looked nice, so that's what matters, right? And it only took an hour for both services. The spa itself is really a cosmetics and salon products store with some salon services in back. There was one manicure station, one pedicure station, one shampoo station, and one hair cutting station. (Though I overheard that they currently didn't have a hair stylist.) It was small but comfortable. And apparently they have massage services too, but I didn't try those out. Maybe next time. read more

Absolutely fabulous place to stay!! I am sooo glad I found this hotel! It was perfect! Beautiful view of water and the rock. The room was cozy/quaint and beautiful. LOved the hot tub bathtub ;0). The views/windows were incredible. High marks also for the bedding (it was actually soft and comfortable compared to other hotel's cheap bedding). The fireplace added that romantic touch. It was just perfect! I did not want to leave. I will definitely be going back there again!! Also perfect location in terms of near freeways and walking distance to restaurants. read more

Bay Beauty Spa is amazing. I had the day off last week and was looking to get in for a facial that day. Val, the owner and esthetician, got me in that day . My facial was great. She used all the right products my dry parched skin needed. Afterwards, I tried the hydromassage table/bed she has. I was skeptical at first bc I love hand massage so much. I climbed up on the bed and Val showed me how it all worked. It is situated right by the windows so I got a great view of the harbor outside. She pushed start and the water started pulsating up and down my spine. It went from my feet to the back of my neck. It has a pause feature so I stopped the wave of water on my lower back. Wow, that felt great! It was a great little "pick me up" after my facial. My nerves felt all tingly after and I floated off to my car. I will def. be coming back to see Val for a facial and a mini massage on the hydromassage table. read more

Absolutely perfect!! Where do i start?! My mom reserved the Big Sur room for the night before & the night of my wedding, June 14th & 15th. When my 2 MoH's & I first got in the room, our jaws dropped. The design & setup of the room was warm & cozy, large wood beams crossed the ceiling, a beautiful wooden bed frame with amazing detail on the posts held a king sized bed. The fireplace added a romantic vibe & turned on by simply pressing a button. There is a separate seating area with a fold out futon couch for extra guests, two big comfy chairs next to the fireplace. We had a mini fridge in the room, in the lobby area was a little kitchenette with a microwave, coffee maker and tea bags. Now the views alone were breathtaking! I live in MB & am used to seeing the rock, the view from this room were something different. It was private enough to open to screenless windows, pull a chair up & stick your feet out for a nice cool breeze. It sits right above Front St and the Embarcadero, perfect for people watching without being disturbed. The smell of fresh baking bread comes up from the bakery La Parisienne, makes your mouth water. Val and Janette were fantastic hostesses. We had the whole upstairs to get ready for my big day. We were running late so we left a huge mess of hair products, makeup, and other beauty supplies scattered throughout the upstairs area and bathroom. Janette cleaned up after us and respectfully put all of our belongings back in our room. We forgot that there is a day spa there, so we felt bad and apologized, but she was more than happy to help and understood why we left without picking up first. This is by the far the nicest, quietest, cleanest and most unforgettable Inn experience Ive ever had. Im a big germaphobe, i check everything in a room when i first check in..lets just say, i felt %100 comfortable taking a bath in the jacuzzi tub. They use Tide detergent, which im allergic too, i brought my own towels, but that definitely did not take away from the amazing experience we had here. After the wedding and reception, we had about 9 friends come back to the room with us. It was big enough for all 11 of us to relax comfortably without sitting on top of each other or everyone piling on the bed. All of our friends commented that they would love to stay here. We really loved the Front Street Inn. We were able to stay just 1 night because it was during the week, normally a 2 night minimum. The place was clean and the host was very nice and generous. We enjoyed sitting in the bay window and watching the people, enjoying the great view of the harbor and Morrow Rock. My wife and I found a great little restaurant to have dinner within walking distance. There is a bakery and surf shop below and we enjoyed supporting these local businesses. We will definitely return and make this a destination, not just a stopover. read more

My boyfriend was treating me to a massage for my birthday and I desperately needed one. I had gone to another place in SLO, but they were booked that day and wanted to try something closer to home. After calling many places for same day appointment, I got to this one and luckily they were able to accomodate same afternoon for 90 minutes. Holly was my massage therapist and she was divine! I am a former massage therapist(which I don't reveal), so can be a little picky about my massage. She had the PERFECT pressure throughout the entire massage. I told her my back, neck shoulders were in need of major attention, so she spent alot of time working out knots. She seemed to find all my worst spots thankfully. The room itself was very nice. It was a couples room, so it was big space..nice and dark, nice music..everything spot on! I am glad I found a great local place and will be back!! read more

We had such an incredible time at the front street inn and spa! Val, the owner, was warm and welcoming. The "hideaway" room we stayed in had an incredible view, its own private entrance and a lot of interesting details in decor, including a telescope! The location was perfect & parking was easy- we were walking distance to restaurants and shops and right on the water! We enjoyed listening to the sea lions as we fell asleep. This was a really nice place to stay. The room was very big. It had a king size bed, two couches, one of which you could sit at and look out at the harbor and Morro Rock, a jet tub in the bathroom, a good size TV, DVD player, microwave, and a coffee pot. There was a private entrance which went directly out to the street. There were several books about the area and assorted nautical themes, and even an old spyglass/telescope you could use to look out at things. It was within walking distance of Morro Rock and all of the downtown restaurants and shops. If we had stayed longer we would have tried the spa. Maybe next time. read more

I do a lot of traveling and feel very lucky whenever I find spa services as nice as my home town spa, Bay Beauty in Morro Bay. You can choose from a number of great massage therapists and Val is an expert aesthetician. You can also indulge yourself at the French bakery downstairs, and walk out to the rock to see the otters. Had the pleasure staying 2 nights at the wonderful Front Street Inn during the Thanksgiving Holidays. My friend and I have been staying here for years and consider it our home away from home. Beautiful high ceilings with beams, fan, fireplace, fridge, microwave, books, comfy bed and a view that can make you never want to leave the room.The location is on the North end of the embarcadero with views of the best part that Morro Bay has to offer. Walking distance to the rock, restaurants, wine bars and shops. The owner Val is such a pleaser, quick to smile and offer any additional services as needed. I have read some of the other comments and it appears the Front Street Inn has been found out! At this point, I would only tell your closest friends so we may keep this gem within the growing family. read more

Very nice stay. Did not know there were only two rooms when I booked, and was expecting a different experience. I let them know we would be checking in late (8-9p) and the lady said she'd meet us then. We walked in about 8:15 and found the nice lady Val waiting for us, She showed us to the hideaway room and wished us goodnight. Very nice room - it felt like sleeping at a relative's house. Great view of the rock, and nicely stocked with all we'd need. Books on the shelf and an oder telescope to boot! An exclusive entrance to our room was a big plus. August air blowing through the room was welcome, as were the local wildlife noises (sea lions, seagulls, etc).. Very relaxing. Coffee and bakery downstairs, and walking distance to many pubs and restaurants in Morro Bay. Would definitely stay again on our next trip! read more

We stayed there New Years weekend and absolutely loved it. The proprietor (Val) was super nice and made us feel welcome and right at home. I think she runs the spa and the Inn (only 2 rooms). The Big Sur room was large, clean & comfortable. There is a comfy king size bed and a little couch that sits in front of large windows with THE BEST view in Morro Bay. The location of this place is great! And in the morning you can smell the delicious treats being baked at the bakery that sits directly underneath the room. This place isn't fancy, there is no turned down bed with a mint on your pillow and no fancy soaps/toiletries in the bathroom but I don't need any of that stuff...we felt so comfortable there, wanted to move in! Will never stay in another hotel when were in Morro Bay. read more
