Surfing there was awesome! Leon and his crew brought me to a beach well suited for beginners, and in two lessons I was able to surf. They showed me the correct technique, and helped me get on many waves before I understood how to do it myself. The staff is friendly and they know what they do. As a bonus no one got eaten by a shark! I highly recommend. read more

Leo is a great host and I really enjoyed surfing with him:). He's great for an experienced surfer to go to the area and get the lay off the land. Also great for lessons from what other at my hotel were saying. read more

Talk about relax!!!!…read more Traveling to las gatas was one of the best thing. Arrived at @ 10 am and left at 5 pm. Place is beautiful, no crazy waves and you are able to walk inside the beach pretty comfortably. Water was not high. You do need water shoes as there was lots of rocks inside the water. Some locals said it was do to recent rain. Massage available at reasonable prices. Food is delicious, great drinks and overall great place . They recommend no speakers to avoid having loud music.

Traveled from SoCal to Zihuatanejo for my 20th wedding anniversary. After 20 amazing years, my wife knows I'm not one for sitting around on my arse for a week - no matter how beautiful the setting. Contacted Leo through his website at www.ixtapasurf.com and struck gold. He's owned Catcha L'Ola for 21 years and is a well known fixture in the area. His shop has probably a hundred boards - most for rent. Woke up early and surfed with Leo at his secret spot and was back at my room by the time my wife was up and enjoying her coffee on the balcony. Indeed I was having my cake and eating it too. Booyah! Leo took me to places I'd never find on my own. I didn't just catch some great surf with a world class surf kahuna, but enjoyed making a great friend who I look forward to visiting again soon. You got the life Leo! Thanks for extending the stoke. Best surf store in Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo! Leo hooked us up with an incredible surf experience while visiting Mexico! Personally took us to 2 different surf beaks! Rented a great board and was so kind and accommodating! Showed us the local way! Thank you! We surely be back! read more
