This beach is AMAZING! I visited Las Gatas Beach a couple times on my trip to Zihuatanejo last May.The first time, we caught a water taxi there (only about 40 pesos round trip). BTW - do not be fooled by the guys who are taking you on a snorkel cruise for $80 or more. You can buy water taxi tickets and do the same thing (located directly on the pier).
Anyway, this place has the most beautiful water. The second time I went was when I was swimming at La Madera Beach and this guy offered to take me on his jet ski (for FREE)!! Both times I snorkled. There is a big statue of Jesus Christ (Jesus De Cristo) there is you swim our far enough or get dropped off (in this case by jet ski). You have to dive about 10 feet or so to see it but it is the most beautiful and magnificent thing I have ever seen.
There are restaurants all the way down this beach and they want you to buy food from them to use the sun chairs. Otherwise, you can walk down towards the other side of the beach where the surfers go. Also very beautiful and cool to see the surfing up close! There you may lay out your towel and sleep on the sand.
The water was turqouise and but the bottom has reef. You can swim out a little bit towards the boats parked in the water and stand on sand.
This place is your corona commercial experience! 12 beers for 10 bucks, excellent guac and ceviche...
This place is a must see if you are in or near Zihua! read more
