It still has my heart though. Casa Azul has three apartments and I stayed in the smallest one, which was a studio. It was perfect and I even had a friend stay as well and we were never in each other's way. The place is open air on the patio and then covered over the living area, but the entire place is basically open air. It has a double bed, bathroom with open shower and lots of hot water, efficient kitchen with a two-burner gas cooktop, fridge, toaster oven, coffee maker, blender and 5 gallon water bottle. There is a small hanging space for clothing, with a small safe below. There are large bookshelves and a small dresser. A hammock is there and very easy to hang for use. There are many nature sounds along with the crashing waves at night. A view to the ocean from the terrace is ideal. The location is perfect and close to many great restaurants on the street below, and a walkable distance to town. La Ropa Beach is a longish walk, but there are many taxis available at the bottom of the street. I highly recommend Casa Azul for your Zihuatanejo vacation in paradise. Carmen, the house manager, is a jewel and will be helpful with anything you need.

Tell taxi drivers to go to Rossys Restaurant and they will know. Good air conditioning for night sleeping. Electric burners in the kitchen. Minimal kitchen utensils. Many restaurants very close by which are excellent. Collectivo to Mercado Centro less than $2 US. Taxi about $4. From the airport we were charged $31 and the taxi got lost. Was not a good experience. Rossys is a good landmark. But remember. Access to this place is only from the beach. Come down the beach access next to Pirata and turn right. Entrance is to the right of Mangla.

He's almost 70 years old, still buffed, (an ex Olympic swimmer) and speaks perfect English. He's got a little fishing boat and took me and my wife for a day to remember. My wife is a "sit by the pool" type, so this is quite a feat. He picked us up in the water right out front of our hotel. We fished, took the catch to Ixtapa island where they cleaned and cooked it up for us. Friggin dreamy. Snorkeled a bit, then he dropped us back in the water in front of our hotel. What a day. Moses parted the sea for us. This isn't hoity toity fishing, but authentic Mexican skiff trolling, having some beers, pulling in fish after fish, eating some killer fresh grub on a gorgeous beach, and hanging with a cool old sun-worn fisherman kind of day. While searching for a location we needed to have a few perfect elements: on the beach, we wanted a 2-3 bedroom house (because we were expecting lots of visitors), we needed a place to cook and entertain said visitors. We also wanted a location that was close to some action but not so close that it would infringe upon our "we want to be home time". it had to be safe (which as it turns out is pretty much anywhere in the Yucatan) and of course allow dogs. After a thorough search and even a few backtracks (we booked with another realtor, then found God awful reviews about them as they pull the bait and switch, so luckily we called them on it and they backed off), we found Lyne, (cue music and AWWWWWWWW). Here is just some of the few things she has going for her : honesty, professionalism, availability, a knack for understanding her clients needs, her friendliness, her willingness to go way out of her way to make sure you get what you need, even after you have already moved in and she has your money. Her overall kindness and love for the region and best of all her sense of fairness, she negotiates between the owners and the renters in the best and fairest ,no bull shit way I respect. ( I for the record am also a Realtor). For these reasons and many more, I HIGHLY recommend her services, both to people looking to rent and those with rentals looking for tenants. For the record, we stayed from Dec. 08 to April 26th, we are coming back next year for the same period and have enlisted Lyne to find two more houses, for family and friend coming next year.
