Really beautiful cathedral. While still old, it was much newer than I expected. We spent more time inside than I expected, looking at all of the art, architecture, and bible scenes. My kids were really interested to learn about the history and what it all meant, so we talked about it for quite some time while enjoying spending time in such a nice building. They're doing a really nice job keeping it in good shape. Would definitely come back.
Beautiful Cathedral, with exquisite details. Open to the public and located near the mercado. Made for a wonderful stop to enjoy the artistry of the building. The interior of the church was far more rich in details than I anticipated as the exterior, compared to others, seemed to be toned down. Worth a visit if you are in the area.
This Church is absolutely beautiful. It has so much history and also learned that it is both a Cathedral and Basilica, making it even more special to me. We did attend Mass on Sunday. Unfortunately, it was really difficult to hear the readings and with only fans to cool off, it was very hot and humid. Regardless, I wouldn't trade this experience.
Our shore excursion included a stop here. Our local tour guide gave us the background on the construction of the cathedral. She said building funds ran out so prominent Jewish families donated funds to help finish construction. When you go inside look for the Star of David stain glass windows. We did an quick walkthrough inside as we're not religious folks. We appreciate the architecture.
I've mentioned before that I am not at all religious (although I am a self-proclaimed non-practicing Catholic.) But whenever I visit a foreign city who happens to have a historical church, I make it a point to make a quick stop. It is a beautiful cathedral. The detail and the work that went in it is incredible. There was a lot of love put into its walls, ceilings, even pillars. I ended up spending more time in here than I intended just looking at the intricate work that went into it. I didn't want to leave without making a donation - even a small one at that - if only to help maintain its stature. They say (not sure who "they" are) that at anytime you visit a church for the first time, you can make three wishes. So, I did that as well. TIP: There are plenty of souvenir stands outside. I assume they've gotten the approval of the church, so that's where we got a few things (vs. the market or anywhere else outside its walls.) A popular spot for tourists and locals alike. Highly recommending.
Such a beautiful Cathedral that get to visit during our cruise. Didn't get a chance to come during the mass but will definitely try to do so when we get a chance to explore the city again in the future. Many little stores that sells religious items outside of the church's fence and also food and drink vendors across from the church. The church itself is very old but pretty well maintained considering it's also allowing tourist to explore its beauty from the inside. A renovation or preservation process is currently happening when I visited and hopefully the next time we come again it will be done and beautifully renovated. I love seeing lots of birds just gathering outside of the church yard underneath the trees. Very calming to see.
Beautiful cathedral in the center of Mazatlan. Don't let the outside of this cathedral fool you, the true beauty is on the inside with its magnificent high arching columned ceilings. Aside from the stunning architectural details you will also find beautiful stained glass murals, detailed ornate religious statues and quite a bit of detailed gold trim work that just combine into a visually stunning interior. If you are in Mazatlan visiting than this is an absolute must see. Whether you are religious or not. You will absolutely enjoy all the beauty and magnificence that this cathedral has to offer. Five stars.
Our second stop was Mazatan this once sleelping little fishing town now major city. I haven't been to Mazatan for years since very young it have change dramatic through the years. My wife and I got tour group to show us the city. The tour guide was nice and fun he took us to the Catedral Basilica de Mazatan built in the 1800's. We walk in to the basilica it was beautiful from the inside.

Breathtakingly beautiful. I love old churches; the architecture, the history, the meaning behind the intentional design, and the cathedral was first on our list when we arrived in Mazatlán. I'm not sure if the church still holds worship services, but there tourists from all over the world, some taking pictures, some praying and some in awe at the beauty and serenity of the space. I highly recommend visiting. read more
Absolutely loving the preservation of this beautiful place of worship: The Minor Basilica Cathedral of Mazatlán, was dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, it is the city's main religious building. Designed in the Baroque style, it serves as the seat of the Diocese of Mazatlán and is located in the historic downtown area. read more

We were in Mazatlan and we know that the cathedral is one of the tourist attraction in downtown. We came here to check it out. The cathedral is big and is a very nice and place to sit and relax. It's free to walk in. read more

Absolutely beautiful Cathedral in Mazatlan. This is a must see when you come to this beautiful old town. So much history was built around this Cathedral. It was built in the 1800's and you can feel the positive energy and the beauty is beyond words. read more
Wow! Spectacular place of worship. If your in Mazatlan you need to stop and admire this beautiful church. Built in 1899 on the site of an accent Indian temple. It took over 20 years to complete. There are 28 stained glass windows. A large plaza surrounds the church and a pretty park across the street. Vendors set up selling memorabilia, rosaries, St Christopher's, etc. We walked from the cruise ship port. Very safe with volunteers and police all around the area. Open daily 6am-1 and 4pm-8pm. read more

Pretty church in Mazatlan, Mexico. We came across this church while walking and touring the city on our own. Decided to stop in and say a prayer before moving on. There was a mass service taking place at the time so we were unable to fully explore the church. From what I saw, it was stunning! As another Yelper mentioned, the church is surrounded by a large plaza and park. We purchased a lovely Rosary from the Church's shop outside. When in Mazatlan, this place of worship is nice to check out. Amen! read more
" Beautiful Cathedral Building " We took a Historical Tour of the Historic district in Mazatlan Sinaloa, Mexico the day after the famous Mardi Gras Celebration and one of the highlights of the tour was seeing the Cathedral Basilica de Mazatlan. We went on a walking tour and was able to see the beautiful Cathedral. This Cathedral took 20 years to build and had a lot of French influence in the construction of the building. It was started in 1899 on the site of ancient Indian Temple. Definitely one of the attractions that you want to see when you visit the city of Mazatlan, Sinaloa Mexico. We also walked around the Historical District and say many sites from the Mardi Gras Celebration. read more

One of the most beautiful churches I've ever seen. Really cool to check out and nice to hang out. It's a good time to see for sure. Highly recommend checking it out if you're in the district. read more
