The tomato basil soup in a bread bowl was like heaven. The fried green tomatoes were also a favorite. The short ribs with the smothered collard greens and the cornbread were on an another planet of goodness. You want fresh local oysters on the half shelf pulled from the water only hours ago, well they got you right in house with them lying on ice and a professional shucker right there to serve you with a beautiful smile. Did I mention the dessert bar? Freshly baked cookies, macaroons, mini red velvet cake shooters, lemon puff pastries, mini cheesecakes, and other treats that would leave the sweetest sweet tooth, toothless. When we did our site visit, it was exactly what we had envisioned and more. The space is beautifully decorated inside a historic Savannah building and offers thoughtful features like a Frame TV for slides or welcome messages, private restrooms, a private bar, and the ability to play your own music (which is rare for a small venue and comes without extra charges). Leah was wonderful to work with throughout the entire process. She responded to our initial inquiry almost immediately, something that really stood out since many other venues took days or even weeks to reply. From the first email to the site visit and all the communication leading up to the event, she was incredibly helpful and reassuring. As someone who works in hospitality and tends to be a bit of a "controller," it meant a lot to feel confident that everything was in good hands. On the day of our celebration, everything was beyond what we imagined. The space looked beautiful, and we were greeted so warmly. Sammy, our server, was attentive and fun, and the bartender was fantastic as well. And the food... absolutely incredible. Every dish exceeded expectations. The original plan was to have an outside wedding ceremony, then bring it inside for the reception but weather did not cooperate and all was done inside. It was all truly beautifully decorated and it all worked out great. The kitchen area was perfect to display and serve food. A mini liquor bar and sitting area was directly to the right and connected with the building, making it easier for guests to step out and beverages. They stayed in cabins on the property. Getting there requires some patience. From the street, you turn into a dirt road that seems to go on forever until you see the lake. The ceremony was on the "wedding island", the reception in the lodge and the dancing under the pavilion. The Southern food served in the lodge was good and the cakes were dynamite. As a Diamond Elite IHG member I usually opt for the drink and snack instead of the 500 points. It seems they don't honor that here at this hotel. Was told they normally have goodie bags for members but were out. I asked if I could grab something to drink from the little grab and go market, and was told I'd have to pay for it. ALL other IHG brand hotels I've stayed at have always done this. It's part of the Diamond Elite Status amenities. Also complimentary room upgrades not honored here either. It's the little things that go along way. The lady who checked me in seemed to be bothered I asked the question about the arrival snack and drink. I quickly remembered this happening here a while back when I stayed. Seems they don't care if you are here or not.
