The Cathedral of Learning is one of the most iconic buildings in all of Pittsburgh. It's a 42-stories high, gothic revival beautiful building. it's in the same university vicinity and the Carnegie Museum of Art and History is just nearby. it is 535 feet tall and listed as the world's second-tallest university building. it also has a food court where visitors can grab a bite while exploring the impressive building's interior. We did not get much time to explore all but a few areas- though look stunning from the outside.

A gorgeous building and definitely a must see area of Pittsburgh. You can see it from afar in many places in the city, but getting up close by visiting the campus was really great. It's open to the public and inside has a cafe and bathrooms. They have a smart elevator system where you type in your floor and they tell you which elevator to go to. We didn't have any idea what was on each floor but we went up to the 35th floor to see if you could get a view and the view was really great. I couldn't stay up there long because it triggered my fear of heights, but my husband looked for longer and I was glad to catch a glimpse. From the outside it is across the street from a great park with permanent food stalls and lots of outdoor seating, and in the other direction is the beautiful Heinz Chapel...a ton to see in just a few blocks.

Now THIS is the place for me. If you have never been to this gothic structure towering over the Pitt campus, do yourself a favor and go. Take a tour of the Nationality Rooms and have your breath taken away by this shrine to academia, global knowledge, and architecture. I really could have spent hours in there, admiring the decor and design. The tour was fascinating and I want to take another tour just do learn more. Places like this make me yearn for knowledge and thirst for learning. Every nationality room was unique in its own way and I probably got to see 13-15 of the 31 rooms on the tour. I wish I could come here and take classes and soak in the history of it all. Quintessential college campus building. It's got Harry Potter vibes when you first walk inside. And then when you walk into any of the nationality rooms, you find yourself immersed in the culture. Some of the rooms even have a particular smell that is reminiscent of the country they represent. Don't believe me? Go see for yourself. Ten bucks gets you a guided tour. Money well spent.

The Cathedral of Learning at Pitt University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is great place to visit while in the city. This was my second or third visit. This is the first time that I have visited where you could not look in the nationality rooms unless you purchased a tour. The previous times that I visited the Cathedral you were able to look inside some of the nationality classrooms they were open for the public to view them. I did not purchase the tour ticket. I just spent some time in the beautiful gothic common room admiring the architecture. Great place to visit. Clean bathrooms. I don't know where to park because I walked here from where I was parked on the nearby Carnegie Mellon campus. Unique architecture.

Breathtaking and beautiful! First time visiting. Highly recommended! We went to the highest floor allowed and got to see amazing views of the city. Felt like we stepped into a Harry Potter movie! Super cool!

I called the Cathedral of Learning to inquire if it was open to the public and if tours were available. Tom could not have been more helpful. He registered me for a tour the same day. Our student tour guide, Shevan, did a fabulous job guiding us through the Nationality rooms of our choice and explaining all the details of each room. I highly recommend taking a tour of this beautiful historic building!

Turns out, Hogwarts is in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! The Cathedral of Learning is a beautiful space perfect for some quiet studying. Come here to work on your problem sets under soaring stone archways. If you're a tourist, it's worth a quick peek inside of you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way just to visit.

Absolutely breathtaking. It's so beautiful and totally worth the time of going to the grounds in addition to exploring all of the inside. The chapel was closed so I can't comment on the inside, but the outside was oh so pretty. I wish I could sleep on the grass area right by the cathedral. Such relaxing place and people are nice everywhere. I parked a street up and walked there. The security guard gave me pointers on where to go and what to check out. I loved my entire experience. Will be coming back next time I am in town.

This is my absolute favorite place to study. The nationality rooms are breathtaking, and so is the commons area. This building is kept very clean too, which is amazing considering how many students and tour groups pass through every day. My only complaint is that the correct hours aren't posted anywhere online. I've come a few times thinking the building was open only to walk in and find that the commons area was closed or the building wasn't technically even open yet. It'd be nice to know where that information is posted - both online and on physical signs. Other than that, I'm completely in love with this place. It's closed to the public for now unless you're in a tour group, but it's going to be worth coming to see once pandemic restrictions have been lifted!

I've traveled a decent amount and this is still one of the most gorgeous buildings I've ever been to. A beautiful gothic gem, standing high over Oakland, it catches your eye no matter how many times you've seen it. Touring the building alone would be amazing. Add in the Nationality Rooms and you have a unique, unforgettable day ahead of you. The rooms are all designed to look as authentic as possible. They have real items from those countries with nice paragraphs explaining them. They host a holiday open house each year and it's an event I would hate to miss. It's PACKED but you still have room to explore everything there is to offer. Each room is decorated in that country's winter holiday with a volunteer in traditional dress that explains how each country celebrates. The great hall has performances and food that is to die for. This is key for anyone visiting Pittsburgh.

If it were in Pisa it'd be the Cathedral of Leaning.

The Cahtedral of Lerning is a plaice where peeple, espeically studints, go too practise there spelling bes and prepere four all off lifes litle chalinges. This towering, haunting, magnificent cathedral is one of the world's most amazing sights, set amongst the already picturesque, beautiful, mountainside city of Pittsburgh. U Pitt is one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. It's got a splendid hospital, many grand old buildings, some sparkling new ones, some awesomely-designed rotunda-style residence halls, and best of all, it has the dominant, towering, sensational Cathedral of Learning. One of the most beautiful buildings in all the country, and it's not even religious. It's now a college building, and I've been in there on many occasions, and it's amazing. Inside, it feels old and European. You can forget you are in Pittsburgh for awhile. Pittsburgh girls are amazing. I dated a girl from this campus and visited her a lot. She is now a fashion designer. Hi, if you're reading. Miss you. I first met her inside the Cathedral Of Learning. So this whole campus has wonderful memories for me and I go back often. But specifically this cathedral reminds me of her every time I am here.

This is a beautiful place across the quad from the Heinz Chapel on the grounds of The University of Pittsburgh. When you go in to the very large area where everyone is sitting it reminds me of Oxford of Cambridge University in England. Or if your so inclined Harry Potter. There are many floors with different rooms. My father took his German classes in the German Room. Unfortunately they were doing some work in the place but it's really something to see. Parking is interesting.. that's all I got.

The Ship2Pitt program allows students to ship 4 boxes of their belongings to the school for free, which is awesome...EXCEPT IF YOU LIVE IN HAWAII OR ALASKA, OR ANY OTHER US TERRITORY THAT'S NOT PART OF THE 48 CONTIGUOUS STATES!!! It is going to be expensive enough in order to get everything we need in order to get our daughter there, for example, airline ticket and now shipping cost for her belongings. I called University to ask about this policy and the reason they won't service Hawai', Alaska, or other territories is because they can't guarantee that the boxes will get there on time or get there safely. Guess what folks...UPS, FedEx, USPS can't 100% guarantee that boxes being shipped from the contiguous 48 states will get there safely and on time! University of Pittsburgh needs to service all the United States to include Hawai'i and Alsaka (last I checked they were still part of the USA) and other territories or take the Ship2Pitt program away entirely! This is discrimination based on geography!

Duquesne was such a welcoming campus, and all of the teachers and staff are very caring. There are so many great resources, both on campus and off campus within a short distance. I moved back to California, and I have to admit that I miss Pittsburgh and Duquesne a lot! Someone else (who studied math) mentions in a 1-star review that Duquesne doesn't have any rigorous science programs--that couldn't be FURTHER from the truth. I graduated with a science degree and believe it was a FANTASTIC program and that every other science student I came across in other programs thought the same thing.
