On last February 2026 my dad passed away at 88 years old. I am very pleased to say that my dad was for 1 year under hospice care at home and he received dedicated and excellent services from Catholic Hospice's staff. The entire team was great, very professional, experienced, and compassionate with both the patient and our family members. They also respond quickly to emergencies, all of them were very accessible and supported every time I reached out to them during that time of need. I am very grateful to Dr. Hernandez Cancio-Bello, he was very kind, very talkative and outspoken, the main Nurse Yasmine Rodriguez Rios who she visited my dad a few times per week, paying attention of my dad's vital signs, etc. and she was part of the family, like another daughter for him, taking care of everything he needed. The Chaplain Eliseo Seme Santiago who brought happiness and psychological support to my dad through his reflections and music, the Social Worker Yazmin Ale who answered my calls, guided me, and clarified any doubt for me. Every single person that came to my dad's house was not only extremely qualified but truly cared, including the 24 hrs. nurses like Jose Maria Redondo who was attentive to all my dad's needs. I had good experiences as well with the hospice equipment company "Life health Care Services", when the oxygen concentration machine it was broken, they replaced it, as soon as they could the same day. The same way I once took my time to write a positive review, today I am writing to express my deep disappointment with this company. I want to make it clear that this review is not about the staff, but about management. This organization presents itself as a Catholic hospice, and as a Catholic myself, I find the treatment of faithful employees deeply upsetting and not aligned with the values God calls us to live by. As Colossians 3:12-17 reminds us: "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Today I learned that after 18 years of lovingly caring for patients, Laura resigned because of issues related to pay and treatment. Laura had a gift -- she could turn my grandmother's saddest and most difficult days into moments filled with smiles, laughter, and peace. That kind of compassion cannot be taught, and it certainly should not be undervalued. This service is funded by the Archdiocese, yet the way loyal employees are treated does not reflect the core values the organization claims to uphold. I am now seriously reevaluating whether to continue with this hospice company and considering moving my grandmother to another organization where employees are treated not as numbers, but as human beings who deserve care, respect, and dignity. Because if compassion and love are not practiced within the company itself, how can they truly be passed on to the patients and families they serve? Sadly Catholic Hospice let us down completely by sending Dory who is a registered nurse who is incompetent! If your loved one needs hospice services look elsewhere if Dory is assigned. She does not know if she is coming or going! She doesn't even know what a UTI is and does NOT know how to treat it! This is just one of the many epic failures she has displayed to my family! Do not expect them to respond quickly in a crisis. I called the "emergency line" because I am concerned about my mother who is in and out of consciousness. I gave my information to a triage nurse an hour and change ago to come right away for my mother. An hour later, I called back with more urgency and finally got them to get a nurse to call me. He is coming from Southwest Miami to Broward county. So the driving time is about an hour. In short, in an emergency situation, theyll take two and a half hours JUST to get someone out there. God help us at the final moments. **** Edit - Day 2: My mother was assigned a 24/7 nurse as these are her final hours. We get a call from the dispatch/nurse stating the nurse was "downstairs" and wanted the apartment number, to which we gave to them. 45 minutes later, we're walking around like fools in the parking lot looking for the nurse, who as discovered, was still in traffic. Arrives an hour after they told us she was downstairs. Meanwhile, my mother needs medication for pain she can barely speak about throughout all this mess. ***Edit 3 - The Social Worker, who we asked days ago to assist with finding bereavement therapy for my father. Hasn't responded. *** Edit 4 - My Mom's vitals drop and I receive a call from my dad, who has been instructed BY THE HOSPICE NURSE. To call 911. (I thought I was supposed to call the urgent care). Upon getting to the ER, some representative wearing scrubs from Catholic Hospice comes in essentially demanding I cancel the hospice care for my mom. WHILE THE ER DRS AND NURSES ARE EXAMINING HER!!! There has been nothing compassionate about this care. And I strongly by my encourage anyone considering working with Catholic Hospice to really reconsider and not choose them as their provider. One bad seed is one thing, but essentially everyone in this workflow failed. Now we're stuck in Memorial ER, and the Dr on duty of course asks us to"why did the nurse say to call 911?? We can't do much here." I agree and she sighs with me. Thankful they have a hospice that works with Memorial. We've been left high and dry by Catholic hospice. Soul crushing incompetence that no family should ever experience. Overall, I truly hope our experience makes a family think twice or at least address issues PRIOR to signing off and putting their loved ones through this. I am very pleased to say that my mother (98 years old today January 28, 2026, that is declining faster) has being receiving dedicated and excellent services from Catholic Hospice's staff for over a year now. Their doctors, nurses, social workers, and priests of Catholic Hospice are very professional, experienced and compassionate with both the patient and the family members. They also respond quickly to emergencies, and I am very grateful for their staff from the Medical Director Dr Suarez to the nurses Lori and Liz, Ileene in the office, all of them are and have been very accessible and supported every time I reached out to them during these time of need that my mother is walking her path to meet the Lord when ready, Amen! My mom was receiving the Catholic Hospice Services for 3 or 4 months until she finished the happiness life on Earth, now she is on Heaven celebrating her new "Eternal Life". I can recommend the exceptional a services of Catholic Hospice Care at Kendall Lakes Rehabilitation. My mom and I we had have great experience with the professional service's. The entire team is great as the Father, Social Worker's, Case Management's, Nurse's, CNA, who was spending time and care feeding my mom everyday. if I could give them one star, I would... these people do not care for patients at all... it's been over 10 days and my uncle still hasn't received his shakes which is the only food he can take... they will also not send somebody to bathe him if they don't have anybody... a lot of the time they don't have somebody... I've had over 10 HHA's. I can say only two know how to do their job. and don't bother to request them because then they'll take them off your case... we spent 10 months with the same HHA lady who was wonderful and out of nowhere they just took her off her case...I had one tell Me she doesn't clean the patient's feet because they don't walk on them.... Another one wiped his face his hands and left two minutes later when we rolled him over he had completely used the bathroom on himself and she left it like that..don't bother to complain. They will not call you back and if you do complain, they will not send anybody as a form of punishment for complaining ... and I'm gonna call out Barbara on the pink team... she is the secretary, who doesn't bother to call and advise thatnobody is gonna show up or they're running late. She said she will relay it to whoever job it is because apparently she doesn't have a job... she also talks disgusting to people... no empathy... if you're families on hospice it's already stressful enough. Don't add stress to yourself. Find another Hospice company. stay away. read more

Do not take your family member here. Worst hospice in Miami. There is nothing Catholic about this place. Their in home hospice is great but the hospital is horrible. The worst experience of my life. The Night nurses are Horrible. They ignore the patience And they treat you like Crap. I hated the whole experience in that hospice. The home care is amazing not the hospital. My mom suffered so much in there. I know that she regretted asking to be taking there. They need more Nurses. The night nurses are Just rude and cold. I am Just not Happy with them at all. My father died from some cancer that was never diagnosed or proven, he never made it to any treatment and doctors would not give him any medicine for pain from the time I showed up at the doctors with my weak father all they kept doing is testing him for cancer a few days before a pet scan appointment I had to get him to the hospital because he just could not wait anymore to get another test done. At the hospital he was diagnosed but he needed more test that were never done, I think he should have gobe into ICU and started Palliative care at the hospital instead they sent him home two days later with an order of hospice and home health. I contacted hospice 4 days later and they came and said that he was not doing well a choice of a 24 hour nurse or that he would be better off at their hospital. Oxygen is all they gave him why no IVS. My father died two days later I never made it to this place to see him. Nurse at night was rushing me to get him out of place into a funeral home smirky attitude. I believe hospice is suppose to assist family members after death and I have gotten 0 help. No I do not recommend this place, people should die in hospital with propper medical care. I know hospital are trying to get rid of their death toll but not giving people propper care is just as well as killing them. I believe my father was killed from improper care by doctors and hospice. worst hospice ever! they would not give my mom continuous care because they said due to the corona virus situation, they no longer can offer continuous care unless my mom gets tested first ! i had to switch hospices the next day! my mom passed away at age 95 3 days later. i cannot believe they would not do the service they were hired for! people die every day from other things than the corona virus. it was the worst experience i've ever had! I was told by someone who had their father under this hospice that they were not happy with their service but I lef my decision by the name Catholic. My mom was only under their care for about a month. When my mom was placed under continous care her las day of life they placed a nurse that hardly spoke english, in my opinion totally unqualified. It seemed that it bother her that we werr there, would tell us not to cry in front of my mom so we don't agigate my mom. Didn't realize that my mom was under stress and didn't request for her drugs to be administered until her supervisor came and noticed my moms condition. I am not going to generalize but that murse called Niurka who was contractef from snother company has no business being a nurse! Very dissapointed! read more

Catholic Hospice took care of my grandmother when she was at her weakest. Even though she was only on hospice for a few weeks I wish now we would of started hospice care sooner. She died with dignity and compassion. The staff was attentive and sensitive to us at our time of need. read more

I was a patient of Catholic Hospice. I could not speak and had my niece advocate for me. They treated her horribly. Three employees gained up on her and intimated a single woman. The doctor did not give me meds for pain even though I have not received anything by mouth for days. Yelp will probably remove this because they are paid off by them. read more

I started off with Catholic hospice in Dade county and they were fantastic. Unfortunately I had to move my Father to Broward and that's when the problems started. It took them over 3 days to deliver his medication correctly. All the while my Father was in pain from Parkinson's. Horrible communication, called the Director several times without a response. The assistant was rude and curt and had absolutely no empathy. I switched my Father to a different hospice and it made the world of difference. They didn't even bother checking in. read more

Velez with a little respiration problem was sent to Villa Maria, Miami, nursing home for medical attention, however she never received proper medications and they let her die. If you really care for your loved one do them a favor and stay clear of Catholic Hospice at St. Anne's. They left my mother there to rot for days and when I transferred her to the hospital she smelled, had diaper rash, and her fingernails were so disgusting dirty it almost made me throw up. The hospital also had her on oxygen and a heart monitor when I arrived. That shows you how much care she was getting under Hospice. She went on Catholic Hospice because I was informed she couldn't get therapy for her hip surgery unless she went on Hospice. Mom has excellent insurance so this was not the issue. read more

THEY DESERVE NO STARS! My brother has been a patient at Sister Emmanuel Hospital 2 months, I was pressured to put my brother in hospice because he was near passing away. I was told that he would be in a unit that would be cared for by a nurse from Hospice. Instead he was transferred from a room that was beautiful that had accommodation for family members to a dark scary room that had one chair, no place for our family except standing in the hallway outside his room, while disturbing other patients in the rooms next to his. The nurse call light did not work, so we had to go to the nurses station to find his nurse to come and fix the IV. Please what ever you do never allow a love one to be left there. So many other things its just to hard to speak about. read more

At the end of a long battle with blood cancer my father wished to die at home. I was hesitant with the services provided by hospice but proceeded to enroll my father and took him home. I want to warn family members making this difficult decision TO NOT ENROLL INTO HOSPICE ON A FRIDAY. Medicare pays 100% of hospice care, reimbursement of $183. 17 a day. You have to be a LOUD and ACTIVE advocate for your family member since those dollars are being stretched. He was discharged from the hospital on Friday and I went through every detail with the hospice admittance nurse, including all the medications he needed and made sure to stress those medications classified under "non-curative purposes and were consistent with quality of life treatment". We arrived home and immediately called the admittance nurse and reviewed my father's medications and prescriptions. He was missing a few medications but my biggest concern was the antibiotic. She reassured me I was going to receive the medications on Saturday morning. I did not receive the antibiotic over the weekend after multiple calls. On the fourth call I was informed amoxicillin is not in their formulary and requires approval which would not happen until Monday. I was vivid! In the hospital I had requested written prescriptions of my father's medication. I went to Walmart and purchased amoxicillin for $4. He missed 3 dosages because of Catholic Hospice incompetent staff and red tape protocols over $4 medication. We did not receive any medical assistance or nurse visit over the weekend. My father's condition deteriorated quickly over the weekend, by Monday morning he stopped swallowing. He was in pain but couldn't swallow his pain medications. I called their emergency line and requested for a nurse to be sent immediately. The nurse was not scheduled to arrive until 2 PM. It was completely unacceptable and I raised hell over the phone. Their solution for alleviating my dad's pain was not to immediately sent a nurse but to feed my dad crushed Percocet! The medication cannot be crushed since it can cause an overdose, indignation does not describe my feelings when I heard that instruction by a medical provider. The case manager nurse arrived at 1 PM and I complained over the lack of care during the weekend and the poor quality of care provided by their incompetent staff. Her response, "you did not deal with me over the weekend, I am not responsible for their mistakes. I am here today, to provide your father with the care he needs." She is the nurse manager and it clearly showed Catholic Hospice does NOT hold their employees accountable for their mistakes and incompetence. Complaining about poor care to Catholic Hospice will not achieve anything since you will be speaking to the wind. Finally, my father was place on continuous care with 2 nurses. At which point my father's medications were discontinued and was only given liquid morphine and methadone. Tuesday morning my father developed a fever of 102 F and the nurse was treating him with only COLD RAGS (in the year 2016, a skill nurse treats a high fever with cold rags!)The nurse kept asking us for the emergency kit with acetaminophen suppositories. Guess what, I never received the kit from this negligent company. The nurse called Catholic Hospice multiple times requesting immediate delivery of the kit but was not able to expedite delivery. I drove to Walgreens and purchased the $5 non-prescription acetaminophen suppositories. I Immediately, called the nurse manager and demanded IV antibiotic to treat the bacterial infection causing the fever. Once again, antibiotic treatment required authorization, which took 4 hours to obtain and required my father to be moved to their inpatient unit. Their solution was completely preposterous, my father was dying, weak and couldn't move his legs from the severe pain. Catholic Hospice PROTOCOL REFUSED to provide an IV antibiotic for 102 F fever for a patient with 24 hours nurse care. Their poor excuse for not allowing home IV is possibility of complication, which is complete nonsense. My father had previously received IV antibiotic under Home Care, at which time a nurse came home for 1 hour and took care of his treatment. Catholic hospice refused home IV antibiotic due to their protocol and it had nothing to do with patient safety or care. My father passed away Tuesday night with a fever that was only treated with cold cloths. This detail bothers me incredibly. It bothers me to no ends that my father was treated with cold rags by a nurse in the year 2016 while living in USA. The unapproachable, evening nurse stayed in the corner of the kitchen until the funeral home picked my father's body. The nurse left with the funeral home workers and did not say "bye" to the family, let alone any condolences. read more
