My son started in the older toddlers class and, when it was time to transition to the next class up, it was exactly that: a transition. His specific needs were attended to. My son was nervous about changing classes so he would start his day with me dropping him off in his old class. Throughout the day he'd be asked if he'd like to visit his friends in the bigger class and, only when he said he was ready, he'd go over. It took a grand total of 3 days for him to have the confidence to start his day in the bigger class! My little guy was delayed in speech. Learning 3 languages at once can apparently do that. The school has speech therapists that come in to work with the kids who need it. I don't have to worry about scheduling appointments or environments my child is uncomfortable in. It only took 1 session a week for 1 year from my almost-non-verbal 2 year old to become a tri-lingual, chatty 3 year old. The school uses an app that directly notifies the parent with updates about their child. We are informed of potty use, naps, meals and snacks, activities, and any other moments. It's rare to not get multiple photo updates each day. The app also has the weekly lesson plan and, being a former preschool teacher myself, I can vouch that the format of the lesson plans are excellent! I felt compelled to write this review for 2 reasons: first, to share my amazing experiences and, second, to question another review I read on here. I noticed a review from some years ago that was very disappointing. This confused me because I've known families with kids at the school for many years. At no point did anyone ever confide in me that the school was anything less than exceptional. I've only ever heard praises. The specifics of said review raised questions in my head about the poster. Written were complaints about the child being dirty, scratched, in a class with a biting child, and encouraging the use of pull-ups. As I mentioned before, I'm a former preschool teacher (of 15 years, then public high school teacher). In my experience, this sounds very much like a parent that is asking for their child to NOT be a child. I WANT my child to be dirty! It means he's had fun! My child's clothes are always changed when it's anything more that playground dirt or paint. Scratches are to be expected on little kids. If there are no scratches, there are no experiences. If my son didn't cry, I'm betting he was fine. I don't know a single person or child who can clarify every scratch they get. Having a biter in the class sucks. ​​one of the families I knew at the school before we started there had a child that was a biter. They were provided resources to help their child stop the behavior. It took two weeks for the problem to resolve. There was another family, however, that refused the resources and, when the child did not stop biting, the family was given the option to be referred to another school or take advantage of the resources. As for encouraging the use of pull-ups... first, I have no idea what other schools the poster had spoken with, claiming this is the only school to encourage their use. I've never heard that other schools discourage the use of pull-ups. Also, I want my son doing whatever option he's most comfortable with. If it's pull-ups, pull-ups it is. If it's diapers or straight up underwear, cool! My family has always felt supported by the entire school in the decisions we make. Finally, I wanted to address the claim that the owner is cold or didn't care. My gut reaction is that there is something wrong with the negative poster. I adore the entire staff. I've always felt like they make time to sit down and speak with us if we have questions or are looking for guidance in regards to our son's upbringing and milestones. We've become friends with many other families at the school and they all feel the same as us. They love the owner, the office personnel, the teachers, the assistants, the programs, the special events, the structure, the appearance of the school, the development in their children... I've become very close with 2 families that chose to try different schools. One was looking for something cheaper, the other was looking for a very specialized, language immersion school. The first told me 2 weeks after leaving that they see the difference, that The Cary School actually taught her child rather than just babysit. The second was happy at the language immersion school until they realized the cultural differences and decided their child needed more nurture than was offered. Both families have recently returned to The Cary School after just a few months. Review readers, there's a reason this school has a long wait list, ha​s the accreditation it does, and all but one reviews are so wonderful. If you read all of the reviews, make sure you read between the lines of that negative one...

Knowing the length of time we would leaving our child every day, our only hope was to find an environment where our child felt loved and safe. What we discovered was a school that was so much more. Over the past five years, both of our daughters have called The Cary School home. They've journeyed through every stage--from the newborn days through toddlerhood, twos and into preschool. Each transition has been supported by staff who truly know and care for our kids. The depth of dedication became clear at our first parent-teacher conference. We were amazed to learn about the thoughtful planning, careful assessment, and intention that goes into each child's development. The weekly lesson plans continue to impress us, as do the learning experiences our daughters encounter daily. The staff has created an environment where learning feels like play--so much so that our girls actually miss school during vacations and eagerly anticipate returning. Beyond academics, The Cary School has become our second family. Our daughters are greeted with hugs each morning, encouraged to create and explore their imaginations, discover through hands-on learning stations, venture outdoors and build lasting friendships. As we prepare to send our first Cary School graduate to kindergarten, we're filled with gratitude for the love, time, and expertise the teachers and leadership have invested in both our daughters. It seems like all of the other teachers in addition to the office/administrative staff all know our child's name, too, which is very impressive. They are kind and have so many fun, engaging, age-appropriate activities for our child to participate in each day. Although our child has not been there long, there's always a smile and outstretched open arms for the main teacher and that says something to us! We also appreciate the great menu/nutrition and find this to be SIGNIFICANTLY better than the other daycare our child was at. I should mention that they also provide part-time care, which is a wonderful option to accommodate different work schedules. Needless to say, we are satisfied and plan to stay there for a long time!

I strongly urge you to do your research, get more than one opinion, read reviews on local Facebook groups, and listen to your gut before deciding to enroll your child into this school. Dr. Rosenblitt (who is a founder of LDC), deemed my 3 year old as having a severe mental illness after only taking a family history and observing my son playing with legos for 20 minutes. Without any hesitation, he told my husband and I that we should take it as seriously as though we just received a diagnosis of leukemia. We were strongly encouraged to enroll our son into their "therapeutic" school as the only way to preserve his development. We were promised a clinical team that would work hand in hand with us and the teacher to help our son thrive in a social setting and to better cope at home. Unfortunately, the school failed to deliver on all of the promises they made to us. The lead psychiatrist who was assigned to my child and in charge of the care plan, Dr. Kunaparaju, never my son in the month he was enrolled at the school. She also never read his history before our first meeting and didn't know who he was or why he was at the school. On top of that, there was no care plan or goals or any type of formal assessment that the "team" was working from. When my husband or I would press for answers to our concerns, we ping ponged between the psychiatrist, the Educational Director (Jen Reid, who is not clinical), or the lead teacher (also not clinical) - none of whom ever gave us a straight answer. We were told their approach was reflective and that we need to start getting our minds around the fact that there is nothing we could do for our son other than to try and maintain. Unwilling to accept that as an answer, I received second and third opinions and have learned just how incorrectly they diagnosed him and how inappropriate it was for them to tell us he has a severe mental illness without any sort of formal assessment or diagnostic testing. Separately, this school is completely unsafe under their current operations. Classrooms are chaotic and teachers are inexperienced and/or in over their heads. There is no protocol for backup support where there is a student demonstrating unsafe behavior. All classes simply rely on a single person (the Education Director) to come and fill in if needed. Parents and children go freely between the classroom and the main hallway with low to no oversight. Worst of all, there were several instances where the only adults present with the students were parents because the teachers were too overwhelmed with a situation going on with another student! Additionally, the classroom is not structured for pre-k kids; even with a stool they can't even reach the sink or the soap dispenser. And while they pointed to COVID as the reason behind the delay of their new playground, there was not a single age appropriate toy available in their outdoor space. My child resorted to filling an empty bucket with mulch. Worst of all, children were made and expected to play and eat outside when the heat index was above 90. Thankfully I was there on those days and was able to bring my son inside. There was another little girl that asked to go inside because it was too hot and she was told no. As a parent who stayed with my child for 3hrs a day, every single day that he was there (they failed to help me with a transition plan), the situations I witnessed were appalling. This school was very quick to take our money and then didn't support us in any of the ways they had promised. This was truly a heartbreaking experience I hope no other parent has to go through. Please learn from our costly mistake and avoid this school.

We decided to apply despite the hundreds of dollars in application fees just to review our paperwork. At the time, we did not realize most ABA places do not do that. They said the typical time from application to start date was usually a few weeks, but ours took 2 months because they had trouble certifying one of their providers with my insurance company. That was understandable, but it's what happened in the meantime that made me rethink the school. It was difficult to get anyone to answer the phone, and most of my messages were never returned. Messages I left with various people were never passed on to the right ones. Nobody knew what was going on and in some cases they didn't even know who to ask. All the while, my insurance company insisted the problem was on the school's end and that they were having consistent trouble getting in touch with them and that the school filed paperwork wrong three times. It gave me the impression of a school whose management is in chaos and disarray. Finally, after all that was sorted out and just days before my daughters were supposed to start, they suddenly sprung us with $5,000 in further application fees and said they required a 1-year contract. None of this had ever been mentioned in person, on the phone, or in the paperwork we signed at any point in the preceding two months. It raised a lot of red flags to be asked to spend a small fortune in unexpected hidden fees and be required to commit to a long-term contract before my girls had even started. Maybe the school is struggling financially and is desperate to extract as much money in fees as possible? I have no idea. I just know no other ABA place has such insanely high hidden fees. Because my kids never had a chance to get therapy here, I really can't speak to the quality of care. All I know is that getting quality care is much more difficult when management is very disorganized.
