It was at this hospital I met Dr. Ball. She highly recommended a bunch of tests for my cat. When I questioned some of them (because I have already experienced at one other provider not too many yrs ago - the excessive testing to just drum up $'s); she told me one of them would be $0 additional charge - so I agreed. Well that wasn't the case when I walked out to pay - $875.00 for a check up! $100.00+ was added for that "no charge" extra test. I was shell shocked. Conclusion: I didn't feel I got bad service - I just felt I was pushed for extra tests, extra prescriptions that he didn't show he needed and of course I was shell shocked at the whole standard panel of tests Plus getting charged for that $0 test I got pushed to get. The girl at the front desk did not care that the doctor said it was no additional charge -s he simply said I had to say it. While I didn't feel I got bad care - just VERY expensive, very possibly unnecessary care. Right after this visit - wanting to buy more prescription food (Cats Corner was out), He took a swab of my cat's ear - looked at it under the microscope and said there is no infection or bacteria that he could see - so he too was puzzled why Dr. Ball would have prescribed antibiotics. Prescribing unnecessary antibiotics is not good for the cat and of course leads to other problems (UTI's etc.) Not to mention over prescribing antibiotics leads to microbes becoming disease resistant. After a highly unsatisfactory visit with my previous vet and an intuitive feeling something was not right, I knew my cat Bear needed a new vet. I specifically wanted a vet that specializes in feline veterinary medicine. I had driven by Cat's Corner plenty of times in the past which led me to look into Dr. Ball and her team. After my visit, all I can say is I wish I had Dr. Ball as Bear's vet sooner. Bear was handled with the utmost care and treated as if he were their own cat. Dr. Ball and Vet Tech Patricia were impressionably knowledgeable and exceedingly compassionate. Cat's Corner goes above and beyond to provide a clean and calm environment for the fur babies. The clinic was designed and operates from a cat's perspective. Details like having a small towel-lined basket for kitty to nest in for security makes a measurable difference in the severity of your cats stress intensity. Dr. Ball and Patricia took their time to thoroughly examine Bear and answer any questions I had. To not feel rushed in and out of the clinic was so refreshing. As someone who is absolutely obsessed with their cat and wants to understand every little thing going on with him, I appreciated the patient education being provided to me without having to ask, both verbally and followed up in writing via email. In addition, as someone who has a chronic illness leaving me immunocompromised, I felt safe as the clinic still enforces strict COVID precautions. This was a breath of fresh air and made me feel like my life mattered as a disabled person. I genuinely could not be more relieved to have found Dr. Ball and her team. Everything about this clinic embodies professionalism and empathy. It was disheartening to see people complain about the cost of care in prior reviews. I encourage those people to look into the costs associated with running a vet clinic, throw in all of the accreditations and continuing education this clinic has. Vet care is expensive everywhere, but in the case of Cat's Corner you get what you pay for. The standards are high here. Everyone who works there is formally trained and qualified as it relates to their role. I live on a fixed income and personally did not find the cost of Bear's visit outrageous by any means. I wanted to leave a detailed review because I know how crucial and stressful of a decision choosing a vet for your cat is, especially if that cat is your entire heart like Bear is for me. I have been a client of Cat's Corner for over 6 years and I am not looking forward to writing this review, but I need to. I could not say enough wonderful things about Cat's Corner for the first 5 years, I LOVED them and everyone there. Then, something changed. Within the last year or so, I have noticed a very big decrease in the customer service and overall care here. There is no longer a warm, family feeling. Everything is extremely financially driven and either rushed or extremely delayed. I have seen employees argue or bark orders at each other in the waiting area for example. Depending on who is working, there are employees that won't even acknowledge you have walked in the door. I no longer receive follow-up phone calls to see how my cats are doing after their appointments or after starting new medications. Last month, at my most recent visit, I waited over an hour to be seen, with a very sick cat, who I had brought in for immediate care. When I questioned the newer technician (unsure of her name) about the half-hour wait from my original appointment starting time, she went to get Dr. Ball, only for her to walk into the room, visibly irritated and grumble, "What's wrong, what's going on?" Nothing even remotely close to a compassionate or caring greeting. As soon as she determined, my cat wouldn't die, while I waited longer, she left the room saying, "He'll be fine, I need to finish up my other appointment." If my cat could have handled another car ride I would have immediately left and taken him elsewhere. I will NEVER return here, except to retrieve my remaining cats medical records. I cannot believe the way some of the employees and Dr. Ball treat my cats after we have been a part of what I thought was a family, for so long. I have never been so disheartened to write such a sad review before. I will not be referring anymore potential clients here, of which I have previously brought them 6 different families. Unfortunately, those remaining families also see the negative changes in the practice and we are all working together to find another vet soon. I want to make it very clear that not all of the employees and doctors there are so cold and callous. However, the ones that are have ruined it for all. I'm sure this review will end up in the hidden list of "not recommended" reviews, but I wish Cat's Corner and Dr. Ball would take this review to heart before hiding it from others. read more

This is the Tiffany's of cat care. I took my cats there until I got dogs. Dr. Ball is absolutely a cat person and will be extremely attentive to every detail of your cat's needs. Do not hesitate to bring your darlings to her! As a previous reviewer said, her office has every up-to-date piece of equipment and all the latest technology. If you have any questions about anything at all, Dr. Ball is always happy to walk you through every piece of equipment, every step of a procedure, every drop of medicine she recommends, or even just a thorough tour of the boarding area. She is patient and wants you to be informed and confident in the treatment of your cat. The only thing to be aware of is that procedures in this office can be somewhat pricier than other vets. This is because everything is state-of-the-art and again, she will spend all the time it takes explaining the difference in prices and why, and what the actual differences will be for your cat. The only reason I don't go here any more is because it's too difficult to manage two vets (I have 5 animals and some are dogs), so now I go to Sherman Hill Animal Hospital in Woodbury and they're also fabulous! But if you only have cats they will get absolutely amazing treatment at Cat's Corner! read more

Let me start by saying, I'm sure Dr. Ball is a good veterinarian. However, this place performs unnecessary tests, blood work, and X-rays to pad their own pockets. Took my cat for a visit and needed to decide between X-rays or exploratory procedure for question of polyps . I was told exploratory was best so that's what we agreed to do. Upon pick up, almost $200 extra for 2 X-rays was added to my bill despite being told she had a good look and saw no polyps. Plus we had previously discussed exploratory NOT X-rays. When I questioned the X-rays, I basically was told I had to pay for them. Long story short, I had taken my cat to 2 other veterinarians in her 10 years and they diagnosed her during routine office visits. I took her here because they specialize in cats. After 3 visits here and well over $1000, she was given the same diagnosis as the the other 2 veterinarians. read more

This place is the answer to all cat lovers' prayers! I have been a loyal client for about 5 years now and I owe them a debt of gratitude because they saved my cat Rupert's life. In another review, I ranted about how Seymour Veterinary Hospital unceremoniously refused to treat my cat when he hadn't urinated in 24 hours or so. After being rejected by them, I frantically did a web search, not wanting to resort to the emergency veterinary clinic in Shelton, and was delighted to see a cat-exclusive vet in the next town over. I called and instead of being told that I'd have to wait anywhere between 2 days and 2 weeks for an EMERGENCY appointment (yes, even Banfield, though gracious, said I'd have to wait 2 days) I was told, "When is the soonest you can get him here?" Within 2 hours, Rupert was seen and Dr. Ball did everything she could to keep me informed and cautiously optimistic. My poor kitty had to be hospitalized for a few days and I was delighted with how thorough and loving they were. They really treat every cat like its their own! The prices for treatment are a little high, and sometimes I wish they were more accommodating with payments and financing for things like dental surgeries, but that's a minor issue and in no way detracts from my opinion of this practice. Dr. Ball in particular is great. She even gives free advice when I bring a friend along whom has questions about their cats but can't bring them in for whatever reason. She even gave my mom free advice about a tumor that one of our dogs has, which again, she really didn't have to do, but she goes above and beyond! I now have to buy special prescription food for Rupert's bladder crystal problem, but it gives me a good reason to visit, say hi to the staff, and pet the practice's own semi-famous cat, Tiki, who's just an adorable love muffin! read more

I would not trust any other place with my cat's care. All of the staff at Cat's Corner are friendly and genuinely care about you and your cat. They take the time to follow up with you after your visit to see how your cat is doing the next day and will address any needs or concerns in the moment. Each time I bring my cat, I do not feel rushed and they always answer all of my questions and have helpful suggestions. I have 3 kitties and highly recommend Dr. Ball and her staff. They have always treated myself and my cats with great respect, and have been great about "sneaking" me in for an emergency appointment when they are already booked up. My cats are terrible patients at a vet hospital, but Cats Corner always takes the extra time to make sure the experience is the least traumatic for them as possible. I brought my senior cat Sabrina there for the first time several weeks ago for her annual physical. We're fairly new to Oxford and my cat is NOT the easiest at the Vet to say the least. She gets very upset. With that said, I brought Sabrina and they took us back to the examination room fairly quick. When I booked my appointment, I explained that she does get upset easily. Almost immediately, the tech brought me the approximate cost of the senior physical with a detailed itemized list. WELL my jaw almost hit the floor!!!! $525.00 I said, are you kidding me??? She walked out and told Dr. Ball that I wanted to lower the bill in some way; I never paid this much for a wellness exam. Last year at Countryside Hospital in Shelton, her senior visit was 265.00 with all bloods...etcs. Dr. Ball comes in with a rude attitude making me feel like she wanted to give me the "Mean cat mom of the year" award because I felt the bill was too high and didn't want to do some unnecessary tests. She seemed so irritated and said "She's a senior cat and needs advanced blood work" explaining this while she stood back with gloves on her hands while the tech holding my cat lost her grip on my struggling Sabrina and dropped my poor baby on the floor nonetheless! Dr. Ball said they could not do the physical because Sabrina is way too upset and they wanted me to make another appointment and she would prescribe a medicine called Gabapentin so that she would be calm for the next visit. At this point, with her attitude and the fact that my cat was dropped, I seriously was thinking "time for a NEW vet" She left the room and I packed up my very upset kitty and proceeded to the front just to leave when the receptionist stopped me and said I have to pay! What?? I said, you didn't do anything. I was told that no prescription can be dispensed unless I made another appointment and paid for the full physical. I was in no way willing to do that. I said I'm not sure I'm even coming back here. So she said "Wait, I have to tell the doctor because she has to get paid for her time" I was then FURIOUS!!! How dare these people! I said you know what! Sue me!!! and I stormed out with my poor traumatized cat. I had both my cats transferred out to Berkshire Vet hospital with Dr. Guzy. He came very highly recommended by Choice Pet Supply in Monroe and the manager told me he recently brought his senior cat there and bloods and everything was a little more then $200.00. Long story short. Sabrina had her physical and he was absolutely wonderful with her, very quick, very hands on, they took her bloods she got a clean bill of health...total bill $246.55! I rest my case. I don't know how anyone, unless your wealthy can afford to bring their cats to Cats Corner, the pricing is EXTREMELY unreasonable. The staff is not the friendliest and neither is she. Gianluca, my younger cat had his teeth cleaned and some pulled with her. She charged $1800.00 two years ago and he was only 3 and a half 4 years old. I expected a cat vet to know how to handle cats much better to! You have to be quick otherwise if they don't like being handled they can snap very quickly! read more

Let me start with the only positive thing about this place - the staff at the reception desk is really nice and helpful. As for Dr. Ball, don't expect her to be compassionate, it is obvious that the only thing she cares about is the money you leave there. I took my cat there and was surprised by the high bills from the very beginning but thought that quality must be more expensive. My cat didn't react well to any of the medications she prescribed and when I was suggesting other causes for the cat's issues, she was speaking to me in a dismissive tone and I simply felt stupid. Now, mind you, I only search for my information on Cornell's University website, so everything I said had grounds for it. My cat got diabetes after she was put on steroids for her asthma. It is not uncommon but we were not informed about that possibility. Dr. Ball never just adjusts the medication, she need to see the cat for the smallest thing and then looks at her for 2 minutes or sometimes just talks to you for those 2 minutes and charges you for a visit. I had to ask her to check the cat's temperature to make sure nothing else was going on, which she did but only after I requested it. When I went there, my cat had asthma, now she has asthma AND diabetes. She also stopped eating well and continues losing weight. During my last visit there, I was handed a bunch of prescriptions that along with the bill amounted to about 700 dollars. I was never informed how much the meds would be. I was also prompted to buy them at her online drug store. Oh, and did I mention that she insisted that my glucometer - a device that would be used for humans was not good enough (check what Cornell's website says about it). Even after I showed up with my glucometer and compared the reading to her fancy cat's version and it showed 3 points difference, which would be excellent even if you tested 2 different glucometers on humans, she insisted it wasn't good enough. As I was leaving the practice, she asked when I would bring my cat for a glucose curve - basically an entire day of blood glucose testing (every 2 hours) at the hospital. That would cost additional 100 dollars and a ton of stress to a cat that had already been really stressed. So I called back and said I decided to do it at home. I received a call back from the receptionist that Dr. Ball ALLOWED me to do it but she would charge me $25 for reading the curve!!! That takes less than 2 minutes if you need to adjust the insulin and a few seconds if you don't. And I was already her patient!!! I went to a different veterinarian and she read the curve for free, even though she saw me for the first time. Dr. Ball is cold and it is visible that even her staff seems to be afraid of her. She really does not look like she likes cats or humans for that matter. She was very dismissive when I was complaining about the piling bills for my cat's care and still suggested the curve at the hospital justifying it with empowering the owners to take care of their sick pets on their own. It was after I already bough a glucometer on my own and was measuring my cat's glucose level on my own. I would not recommend Dr. Ball to my worst enemy. read more

I would not recommend this Vet to anyone. Our cat was brought there because he was throwing up. Dr. Ball did an Xray of his abdomen but couldn't tell from the Xray if he had a blockage or not. She told us she wanted to do another Xray but with barium she never told us there was a risk to the cats health with this test and she didn't offer other options. When she did the test instead of putting he barium in his stomach she put it in his lung. As our cat laid there dieing she told us how sorry she was this happened. I told her I wished she had told us something like this could happen she explained that it had never happened to her before and that the only other test she could of done would of been an ultrasound which is expensive and most people don't want to pay for it. We are not most people she should of given us a choice and told us there were risks involved in the test she did, instead we got our cat back in a tin can. read more
