We're so happy to have found this practice! Several years ago I moved my elderly parents and their…read moredog to CT from CA. Their dog was older and having some issues breathing on and off that previous vets in CA were dismissive of/couldn't figure out. We brought Quincy to Spring Glen and had a great experience with the vet. It was a friendly, efficient appointment with a referral to Central Animal Hospital for what ended up being a correct diagnosis by Spring Glen that needed surgical intervention. Spring Glen didn't even charge us for that visit! Years later, after Covid, we welcomed another dog to the family. If you remember how many families got dogs during that time and how it created an extreme demand on vet offices we were prepared for a long wait and hard time finding a vet taking new patients for Pip. Despite Quincy passing years before and therefore not being active patients anymore, Spring Glen welcomed us back despite the insanely full schedule. It's now been a couple years and we have zero complaints. Dr. Mags is so thorough and informative while being chatty and friendly. They're upfront and fair with billing and do a great job of explaining the pros/cons of anything discussed. Spring Glen reminds us of our favorite vet from decades ago in CA before they got bought out by one of the big franchises :-( Welcoming, informative, and fair.

I was kept updated, I got to visit (she was in ICU), clear communication, they always answered any time I called and got me the answers I needed. Thank you for the ICU team that took care of her, I can't thank you all enough.

Terrible experience both times I went there with my small dog. The first time he's was brought in…read morefor severe lethargy and vomiting and after spending literally 5 minutes with an actual doctor he was sent home with medication for back pain. No tests, no labs, nothing. It turns out he had a severe liver issue and was successfully treated by his regular vet. They charged me 350 dollars for that abomination after spending 3 1/2 hours waiting there with my young daughter. The second time was this past Friday which turned out to be one of the most traumatizing days in a long time. My dog which is 11, has been perfectly healthy, active, normal and thriving. No issues whatsoever. I brought him to Central in Guilford because he was coughing up a strange white foam the coughing persisted for a few hours. I clearly described the issue to Vet Tech and was expecting them to evaluate him for any obstruction or related problem. Instead they tell me that he has a heart murmur (which I knew about and was never told to be concerned about it) and that he is in heart failure and has 6 months to live. The doctor who treated him was extremely rude and defensive and showed no empathy or compassion while I was bawling in the office. A couple of things to note: they stuck my dog in an oxygen cage because they said he was breathing shallow and was very animated. Well yeah, because it was hot out, and he was excited about going in the car and to a new place. Then they proceeded to put him on Lasix and give him some sedative without asking me first. The performed other diagnostics and the doctor presented me with a bill for 900 dollars which wiped out my entire account. Then the doctor comes in and tells me they want to hospitalize him to monitor him more. Thank God I didn't. She then proceeded to give me the option to euthanize him. I almost vomited right there. Are you serious lady? You're pushing me to kill a perfectly normal, active, stable dog? What kind of business are these people running? So needless to say, I have made a follow up appointment with our regular vet who will do a thorough reevaluation. Even if it turns out that my dog has heart failure, he is not going to abruptly tell me that we only have 6 months with him or that we should put him down. After researching on my own, the data clearly contradicts this doctor's prognosis. In fact, dogs that receive the proper treatment and care can live for another 1-2 years. What morons these people are. And the "owner" that responded to my review on another platform is disgusting and should be barred from practicing veterinary medicine.

I would strongly advise against using Ridgehill Animal Hospital…read more I arrived right when they opened without an appointment because my dog had been in visible discomfort for hours and I was hoping they could fit him in at some point during the day, given they had his full medical history. Instead, I was immediately turned away by a receptionist with no compassion and told to go to the emergency vet down the street. I spent time outside trying to keep him comfortable, and after seeing other clients arrive, I went back in to ask if there was any chance he could be seen later that day. I was told "nothing today" and dismissed again. During this time, Dr. Pearce did not acknowledge me or my dog at all. I later went to Central Emergency Veterinary Clinic, where the level of care and empathy was night and day. Ridgehill never followed up to see how he was doing. When it came time to euthanize my dog, I was told there were no appointments available with his primary veterinarian until the following week. I was offered a late Friday appointment with another provider, which I accepted. On the morning of that appointment, I called inquiring about the process I wanted to be present for the entire process, including catheter placement. I was initially told "you can ask when you get here". The receptionist did ask and came back and I was told no. Then, I received a call a few minutes later saying the owner had canceled my appointment entirely and that I should "go somewhere else." Canceling a same-day euthanasia appointment and turning away a distressed pet owner in that moment is beyond unprofessional--it's inexcusable. This practice demonstrated a consistent lack of compassion, communication, and basic decency. I would never return and strongly recommend others seek care elsewhere.
