Jared stepped up to fill in last minute for my wedding after party and was a highlight of the night. He took our premade playlist very seriously and did not divert from the music genre we wanted for the night. I threw a curve ball at him on the floor to ask him to play Bay Area hyphy music and his response was "I will figure out what that is and make sure it is played". I heard multiple hyphy songs throughout the night and our dance floor had a crowd for a large portion of the night. My husband and I are so grateful for Jared and his professionalism in his work. Jarad doesn't let the party stop. He is bouncing up and down continually and applies all his energy to your enjoyment. He entertained at my husband's birthday party for 4 hours and I don't believe a single song was repeated. If requested he will sing a duet with you. He looks at the the room and as the tired people go home he switches to the correct genre to keep the party going for the night owls. He can alternate Karaoke with dance music and his computer has any song you can think of, even Broadway musicals! He is easy to work with and very organized. Did I say the party kept moving very nicely? He shows up with party lights and speakers that will fill any size room. No body could hear his announcements and he wouldn't announce a second time when asked to. I am a regular at shoryuken league, and my absolute favorite night is when caught in the act does Disney karaoke, The dj is extremely nice, is great at making sure everyone gets a turn and is having fun, will fill in back up vocals if you're messing up so you don't make a fool of yourself and as soon as he sees me puts me in rotation. They have a HUGE selection of songs, more than most karaoke dj's have in town, I've never been disappointed! read more

I really, really hate to give a karaoke company a negative rating, but I've found Caught in the Act is really hit or miss with their karaoke shows. The worst part of going out to sing karaoke is having a KJ who plays favorites or runs a bad rotation. My partner and I like to get to a show early to get in a couple songs before it gets busy, but we've found ourselves waiting not only when new singers who put their slips in long after we did get up to sing, but also others singing twice between our songs. I understand wanting new singers to get a chance to sing before others go twice, but at some point you need to start the rotation over and let the people who have waited patiently sing again. Tonight at The Old Pad, we literally saw a guy walk in and sing within ten minutes while we had been waiting at least an hour to sing again, not too mention watching a guy sing two songs between ours. To top it off, at least this night, the vocals were way louder than the music. It was very hard to hear what the song was. But I don't mean to nitpick. I really appreciate a karaoke company that plays so many shows, but until they can run a proper rotation (or instruct their KJs to do so) I cannot give them a better rating. In fact, the only thing that saves this from being a one-star is some of their KJs are good, like the one from the Spare Room. read more

I was really glad the owner asked for us to review his page here on yelp. For me, I often forget about the fact that we can even review a business on here. I don't care about a free drink, only that people get a good idea of what I have experienced from this company. I have been to several Caught In The Act shows over the last several years. I've enjoyed them all! Yes, I have my favorite KJ's, but as compared to other Karaoke shows, here in Eugene/Springfield and in other towns in Oregon, Caught In The Act has an actual show. I appreciate that they try and include everyone and make it fun, even non singers! I have heard people complain from time to time that they have been skipped or bumped back in the rotations, however, asking the KJ what happened is usually the fix to that problem. Maybe an accidental oversight, new singers being added at the end of the rotation or even a computer glitch they were unaware of.... they are human and do make mistakes, but none that I have ever seen them not try and fix if you ask them :) I also had Caught In The Act do the DJ'ing and officiating at my wedding this last year! We had so much fun that we still all talk about it 6 months later! None of these things I've stated is for a "free drink", nor do I feel bribed at all. I appreciate the reminder to post a review at all because sometimes we only think to write bad reviews instead of our great experiences as well.
