I said "oh I thought you closed at 9:30. Told me that they actually close at 9. On the DCA website AS WELL AS on their literal storefront it states that they close at 9:30. No apologies. They even looked at the sign stating that they close at 9:30. I totally understand wanting to close early, I've worked in retail and food service. However; over 30 minutes in advance and being rude? If you need a healthy meal in the airport this is a pretty decent pick. I got the falafel crunch bowl and it was very fresh and varied. The falafel tasted good, there was a good mix of grains and vegetables, and the cheese/sauce topped it off well. We got a side of pita bread too (didn't realize it was fried but still good). Wasn't too long of a line so it moved very quickly. Oh also if you're going to terminal A - make sure you have at least 10 minutes of walking + another security line to get to your flight. read more

As a newer customer, I was excited to try CAVA, but the interactions with the cashier and the final employee in the line felt less welcoming than I expected. I've never needed much convincing to stop at Cava, so when I spotted one right next to my departure gate, I already knew what I'd be enjoying on my flight back to Florida. I arrived at the airport a little after 8 a.m. and headed straight to the counter. With only one person ahead of me and it being early in the day, there was no line. The staff, however, seemed a bit sluggish and inattentive. I ordered a bowl with rice and romaine, requesting both chicken and steak as my base. Unfortunately, the employee didn't catch that I wanted a mix and gave me two scoops of chicken. He then informed me that adding steak would be an extra charge. I didn't press the issue, I like my bowl a certain way, so I went ahead and paid for the double meat. I topped it with two scoops of Tzatziki, Fire roasted corn, broccoli, and lemon herb dressing on the side. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The ingredients complemented each other beautifully, and the portion was generous. I couldn't forget the pita chips! (No I literally did and ran back to order them lol) Salty, crispy, and tasty! Cava is always a solid choice. This location is in the American Airlines area of the airport. Line moves quickly and the food is just as good as any other location I've been to. Cava is my go to place for quick Mediterranean meal. I have been to various locations. If I am very hungry and I am craving for lamb with rice and harissa sauce, I stop at cava. I have tried their chicken and meatballs as well everything tastes very good. Only one thing I would want them to do better is falafel. Their falafel for some reason is very crispy from the outside. Flavor can be off as well. Service is good and ambiance is good as well. I do like their selection of drinks. They have different flavors of lemonade. read more

Absolutely awful experience at CAVA in Reagan Airport that completely ruined our appetite. While ordering, the staff member asking which dip we wanted either didn't hear us or assumed we weren't paying attention--and immediately lost his patience. He started yelling at us and aggressively slamming the dip ladles into the containers with visible anger. When we said we didn't want the dips he was trying to force on us, he got even angrier and threw the ladles back in with so much hostility it felt genuinely uncomfortable. The whole exchange was shocking and upsetting, especially for a quick service spot in an airport where you'd expect at least basic courtesy. We left feeling completely shaken and no longer hungry. I recently visited the CAVA location at DCA airport, choosing it over other options because the line was shorter. Unfortunately, I quickly regretted that decision due to the rude and unprofessional behavior of the staff. All employees present were women of Hispanic descent, and while they spoke basic English, communication was still a struggle, making the situation more frustrating. I ordered a grains and greens bowl with half chicken and half veggies. I noticed that when the server prepared my bowl, she didn't add any Brussels sprouts. Politely, I asked if I could have just a small piece, as I saw some in the serving area. Her response was dismissive: she said that would cost extra. I tried to clarify, even offering to swap out some of the other veggies in my bowl if that would make it easier. Instead of trying to understand or accommodate my request, she turned to a coworker and manager and began speaking in Spanish, seemingly unaware that I could understand some of their conversation. The manager, without acknowledging me or asking what the issue was, simply stated to the server that I would have to pay extra. This flat, unhelpful response showed a complete lack of interest in customer service. The experience was extremely disappointing. The dismissive attitude and lack of basic courtesy from the staff made the encounter frustrating and unpleasant. I stopped in here while in between flights at DCA airport. I'm glad I did as it turned out to be a great find. It's set up like a Chipotle, you order from a line. You can order from the menu or create your own bowl. I created my own with fresh supergreens, kale, some grains, hummus, picked onions, falafel, pickled veggies and a few other toppings I don't recall right now. Add in some spicy sauce and I was off. The bowl itself was very good, fresh veggies, falafel well cooked and everything was quite good. The service was quick and friendly. The food prep area was clean and looked well tended to. I was on my way quickly and they have some tables nearby where you can sit and enjoy your meal. I certainly liked the variety of food they had available and even better in an airport which can get quite routine. To my surprize, this Cava location opens at 5:30am. They offer different options with pitta wraps, bowls or salads. I ordered a custom salad and told them which toppings to put. They were out of arugula (really? At 7am?) so I tried their SuperGreens salad mix, which was pretty good. I got hummus, red pepper hummus and harisa, stewed lamb, and almost every veggie option available. Overall, it was pretty good and on-par with other Cava locations I tried. We ordered a create-your-own Grains Bowl with Saffron Basmati Rice and Black Lentils, added tzatziki, hummus, Crazy Feta, and Harissa, chose the Braised Lamb and Grilled Chicken as proteins, topped with Persian Cucumbers, Fire Roasted Corn, and Avocado, and dressed with a garlic dressing. I've had a lot of airport restaurant experiences and this was the worst. I decided to try Cava for the first time here at Reagan DC airport and I wish I had waited to get back home. I had questions and NO ONE was helpful. They all seemed irritated that I was asking for clarification. They had signs posted and I asked about an item on the sign, the employee that was helping me told me they didn't have it. When I told her it was on the sign she pointed it out to me. They actually did have it, she just didn't understand me. I think the language barrier had a bit to do with my experience. The gentleman who cashed me out was empathetic that I had a poor experience and there wasn't a language barrier with him. It seems like it's okay for the people making the order to not understand you, but the person taking the money needs to understand you. Always look forward to picking up some food from Cava before heading out on a flight from Reagan. It feels like a more healthy and enjoyable option than some of the other places in the airport. This time I had the greens and grains bowl with grilled chicken. I added some eggplant, harissa, hummus, olives, and cheese to my bowl. I also added some chimichurri sauce and harissa sauce.The bowl comes with some pita bread, but the little piece I received was hard and stale, like it was leftover from last week. There was a very long line but I chose to wait cause I don't get to eat this very often. There is a huge piece of plexi to cover the food and I assume was put up around social distancing. When I read that this Mediterranean Fast Casual concept was coming to Atlanta, I had to try. I stumbled on it hen flying back home to ATL, and decided why not try it now! The place reminds me of a Mediterranean/Middle East version of Chipotle. You can choose from Pita or Rice bowl. I opted for the rice bowl. They have an abundance of options to choose from, from Yellow Jasmine and White rice Jasmine, lamb, beef, chicken, Falafel... You can add lentils, roasted corn, lettuce, Feta Cheese. You have a lot of options!!! The ingredients are all fresh and the flavor is truly authentic! It's healthy most of all.  I will take this over Halal Guys any day! I did not feel comfortable in the area that this was located. If you want to read the menu you're blocking a lot of foot traffic and will absolutely disturb the flow of the gates in that area. I would highly advise against eating this trash. Not to mention the $4 tzatziki tastes like absolutely nothing. I first tried Cava in Houston so I'm not new to the cuisine but it's my first time creating my own unique bowl. They have so many sauces, their saffron rice and lentils are stellar. The falafel is fresh and NOT dry (thank you cooks). The pita bread is soft and warm (yummmm) Love the "fast food" concept but nothing unhealthy about it. The airport version in Reagan didn't disappoint and the flavors were just about the same as I'd expect. Cava at 7am? You bet I will! I passed on over here at the Crack of dawn, because I knew that I would not have another opportunity to eat again until late in the afternoon. Here at the airport even some of the hamburger restaurants are open at this hour. I figured that food from here would be the healthiest option. Instead of putting too much thought into it and creating my own bowl, I decided to order one of their chef curated bowls. The Harissa Avocado bowl included harass honey chicken (the protein!), feta cheese, humus, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, pickles, and onions. For kicks, I also requested cabbage to be added as an additional topping. With the bottle of Aquafina water, I was all set!
