"A lively, open, and lush oasis of formative thinking and progressive opportunity"…read more This is what my Groupon said about Jake's 58; and after traveling many hours in hopes of meeting Jake himself, I was looking forward to having a relaxing and beautiful middle-island escape for my family and I. What my Groupon SHOULD'VE SAID was that I was going to be greeted by a brutalist-adjacent superstructure, bereft of any fresh air. That I would be surrounded by hundreds of mindless consumers - all being herded through a small corridor that gave way to a deprived corporate shell ripe with dissimulation. The carpets were exhausted. Maybe we weren't far from Cape Town after all. Gambling is against my religion, so I walked around and met a few of the 58 Jake's that I read about online. They were all very nice. While I enjoyed my stay, I will likely not return in the near future. Great breakfast

This is the East Coast version of Circus Circus, and that isn't a good thing. In fact, this is the…read moreshortest amount of time I have ever spent in a casino. I did one lap upstairs, one lap downstairs, and I was gone. I didn't even buy a drink. I'll explain why. This is a very low-vibrational environment. Most of the people here are using government money to try to hit big on slots. Either that or they're hard-working (much respect) low-pay and throwing a Hail Mary. With dozens of reports of extremely tight slots, they're just throwing their money away. And, as always, when a casino has tight slots, they're usually very cost-conscious and don't put much effort or money into upkeep and cleanliness. To be blunt, this place is nasty. On top of that, the parking lot is an absolute disaster. I had three people cut me off for a parking spot within three minutes. Then, while walking toward the building, I guy in a big black pickup truck sped as fast as he could and pretty much let me know he would hit me if I tried to pass. But ... as he passed me, his engine blew. I don't what the hell it is but every single time someone does something bad to me or tries to cross me their life is ruined. Contrary to popular belief (in circles I travel), I never even do anything. I just act like I do and say I do so people will chill the hell out and let me be. But my middle name should be Karma. I'm walking freaking chaos. I don't get it. But I don't mind it either. Anyway... This place sucks. Never go here. Perhaps it would have been better if it was Jack's 58 instead of Jake's 58. With Jack, you have Jack The Ripper, Jack-In-The-Box, One-Eyed Jack, The Jackson Five, Jack And Jill (buck and a quarter), Jack-O-Lantern, and the list goes on and on. With Jake, he's a guy that wears khaki pants with sneakers, glasses, has three strands of parted hair, and goes to accounting conferences. Regardless of name perceptions, this place is very low vibration. If you know what that means, then you know to stay far away. I gave two stars instead of one due location and good security.

I just wrote a very negative review about the Resorts World Casino…read more And how the dealers that I was dealing with didn't really know what they are doing. When I went back to the Mohegan Sun Casino and was talking about my Resorts World experience I was told that Mohegan Sun Casino gave Resorts World about 200 dealers. That was great to hear. I just didn't have one of the experienced dealers. But this is a good sign

I visited during the first week this casino opened its table games, and the experience was chaotic…read morefrom start to finish. The parking situation was a complete mess: cars were being directed (or allowed) to park in random places with little organization. Once inside, the casino itself felt overwhelmingly bright and disorganized. The table game operation also seemed unprepared. Many of the dealers looked inexperienced and frequently had supervisors standing over their shoulders, which made it clear they were still learning and not fully comfortable running games independently. What frustrated myself and other players the most, was how quickly table minimums changed. Tables started around $25, but as soon as the casino got busier, staff rapidly raised minimums to $50 and then to $100. That immediately pushed away ALL existing players, including myself, and made the environment feel far less welcoming. A casino should cater to a range of players. If someone walks in with $500 hoping to enjoy table games for a while, having most tables sitting at $100 minimums feels excessive and not very player-friendly. Overall, the casino felt poorly managed and more focused on maximizing short-term revenue than creating a good experience for guests. I don't plan on returning unless they eventually open a poker room. Hopefully that side of the operation ends up being more player-focused than the current table game experience.

It is a long review, but if you are planning an event, I urge you to read this until the end…read more Planning my son's Bar Mitzvah was a daunting task. The expense and amount that needed to be done was overwhelming and I needed to figure out a way to rein it in. Hiring a DJ for a Bar Mitzvah is a must, but it isn't as simple as that. The company is also responsible for providing the rest of the kids activities and, most importantly, keeping the party entertaining and flowing. Having recently moved to Connecticut and not put on an affair like this in over two decades since my wedding, I had no idea who to go to and how to keep in manageable. Also, living in CT and never having lived on Long Island, I obviously had no awareness of Great Neck Games. Randomly, an acquaintance at my Synagogue mentioned them in passing. It was honestly the greatest thing that happened to me in planning the event. Although, I am not saying it was cheap in any way, they worked with me on price and activities in order to keep the cost manageable. But, honestly, I still had no idea what to expect day of and how it would all actually take shape. The low hanging fruit was all done flawlessly. Everything that we ordered was delivered and the room looked beautiful. But, it was the little things and the people that made this event so much better than a run-of-the-mill Bar Mitzvah (see below for two of many amazing photos). Everyone was so happy and had such a great time and I credit DJ Keith Webb along with (I wish I knew their names) the MC and motivators. Keith was so much more than just a DJ. We had a separate room for the adults and he brought a speaker and playlist so they had music in that room. There was no charge for this as he just wanted to help make the event a success. He helped me negotiate the price on a couple of things we needed last minute to keep us within budget. He had a smile on his face the entire time that could fill the room. I am so grateful to him and wish I had the ability to hire him time and again. And, the MC...don't get me started on how great he was. I feel bad that I still don't know his name, but as you can imagine the day was a whirlwind and there was lots going on. He was simply special. He made every kid and adult feel like it was their day as well. But, he especially made my son feel like he should at a party of this magnitude. The motivators, two beautiful and talented women, were equally responsible for making both kids and adults feel engaged, happy and special. They were perfect. I am going to cut this here as it is crazy long, but I cannot thank Great Neck Games enough for what they did. I didn't want to put on such an expensive affair, but they did something I didn't think was possible - made me happy I did it. And, they truly deserve a large share of the credit.

When I called this year, I was told that there was a 3 item minimum and a $350 delivery fee (which had not been charged in the past).
