We didn't have any issues with Carmen and her office until now. Their customer service has declined. She did our initial trust in 2017 and we were provided a full binder with all of our documents. Came back a few years ago to make a couple of updates with Ms. Megan Martin and she was helpful. Cut to a week ago, we needed a few additional updates made so we met with Carmen and she said it would be easier to just redo all the documents and hung onto our full binder, which we thought was odd when we just had a few updates to make. When the time came to sign the agreement, I had questions about the language in the agreement. After a few times chasing them, her assistant said someone was supposed to call me but no one ever did. I called back and the assistant proceeded to pass along the questions I had to Carmen but when her assistant called back the responses still did not answer any of my questions so my husband frustratingly reiterated the questions we had to her assistant once again before we would sign anything. Carmen finally decided to call us back to tell us she didn't want us as clients anymore, which is fine since we were less than pleased with her service at this point. We came back to pick up our binder with our documents so we could go elsewhere and they had taken our paperwork out of the binder and put them in a folder to return to us! Literally a file folder with loose papers is what they handed back to us, not in the original condition it was even provided to them. We've had this binder in our possession for nearly a decade when we met with her initially. They stated it was THEIR binder and she actually took the binder back. Who does that, it's so petty! That just shows you the kind of person and lawyer she is. I'd leave zero stars now if I could. read more

Terrible experience. I never leave bad reviews, check my history, Carmen is extremely lazy, she cancelled our agreement because she didn't want my financial advisor to review our draft trust agreement. She said why would I want my financial planner to look at a trust agreement? ITS A FINANCIAL DECISION, DUH! Before I could forward any comments or have my financial advisor review anything, she suggested to terminate our contract with a refund. I took her up on the offer, but she didn't return all of our money!!! She stated that I cancelled our contract, but all I did was accept her resignation as our attorney, which she offered! I have since spoken to multiple attorneys and financial advisors who all state this practice of her of not wanting a financial advisor to look at the language of OUR trust is VERY suspicious. What a terrible experience, stay away from this business and save your money, she will try to scam you! I'm shocked by this whole experience, if I could leave a zero star review I would! read more

Let me first start off by saying that Carmen is the best in the business. She exudes professionalism and trust which is what you want from an Estate planning attorney. Hands down, she will have you and your family's best interests at heart and is very, very protective of her clients. She was extremely knowledgeable and compassionate, carefully answering our many questions, informing and educating us of the tax liabilities and consequences of various solutions. I was referred to Carmen through a benefit provided by my workplace. We contacted her to help with estate planning. Please don't waste your time here. She was unprofessional, didn't answer questions properly and was more interested in earning her fee than helping her potential client. She even told us we were asking too many questions and would cut us off and bill our benefits for the work anyway. In addition, she was more interested in providing us with a laundry list of costs for additional documents she claimed we needed and appeared to give preference to those that selected her additional services. We will be starting the process over with someone that has an interest in what we need rather than focused on lining her own pockets. read more

She did our Living Trust. When I went to pick it up I was dismayed by the size of the document, it was like a phone book. I could not fit something of that size in my safe deposit box. When I expressed this to Ms. Marquez she suggested that for an additional charge she could put it onto a CD. Then when I picked up the CD she told me I still HAD to safely keep the printed document. So now I paid an additional charge and had something that was unnecessary and didn't allow me to dispose of the hard copy. For this reason I give her one star. read more

We worked with Carmen in 2019 and she set up trusts for us and our son. Carmen explains the whole process and really educates you about probate, tax liability, power of attorney, and living wills. We had avoided doing this for years because it's hard to think about and we just had no idea where to start. Carmen made it so easy.
