(Thank you, Ms. Mejia, you were helpful and professional.) DO NOT call any County office and write bad reviews because you cannot get through. Take the time to go down there in person - early in the day, if possible - and conduct your business. Or make an appointment if that's possible. It's best to expect wait times and challenging ( and potentially expensive) public parking situations. Google everything before you go! The clerks in Small Claims are patient and know what they're doing. More importantly, they're there to help you, so don't act like you're the only person in the universe who is filing a claim. Sure, there can be forms on top of forms to fill out and it can feel like rocket science. They're complicated and the clerks help you through some of it, but you will still have to do the leg work. IMPORTANT TO KNOW: Customers need to expect delays and maybe even more forms to fill out, but that's the way these things go. Keep your negative comments to yourself and continue moving through the process of filing. ORGANIZE your paperwork, etc. in a folder before you go so you are prepared. DO NOT FORGET TO BRING YOUR OWN PEN. Never forget to say "thank you."

I got used to the 10-15 minute walk from Disney Concert Hall for free parking. The parking garage lines moved fast upon entering and exiting with workers scanning the jury badge for you. The court security line was never long and it moved fast. The Jury Assembly Room was pleasant and spacious. Restrooms were clean. The workers I encountered were nice and efficient. The worst part of this courthouse was definitely the elevators. Prepare to wait!!

Employees of this courthouse even called me up and teased me. This court is corrupt. It break my heart to say that out loud. These people do not care about the Constitution or this country. The judges shuffle things around so they can avoid responsibility from their corruption.

JURY SERVICE I hate…read morethis location, so I tried to switch my court venue for Jury Service. Unless you have to take more than three buses to get here or you have a medical excuse, forget it. On the plus side, there are fewer courtrooms here than Stanley Mosk, so you have a better chance of getting dismissed. Parking is right beneath the building. Show your jury summons, and you can park for free. There are plenty of spaces, but it is like a dungeon - dark! I found the elevator and took it to the first floor. Then, I had to get out, exit the building, and go through security. The line was short, and the process was quick. Then, I took an elevator to the 8th floor to the Jury Room. It's big and comfortable, but we aren't allowed to take photos of it. They way they handle juries is different than the last time I was here. We were told there are two groups - a morning panel and an afternoon panel. I was in the morning panel. Within 30 minutes, we were separated into two groups and sent to a department. Everything is done by number, probably to preserve anonymity, so the informative baliff had us line up in numerical order. I was number 2, so I thought I would be in and out of there promptly. Nope. Now, they interview everyone on the panel, which was about 38 people, before dismissing anyone. Once we took our assigned seats, the judge thanked us and gave us a rundown on how things were going to proceed. Then, she excused us for lunch. Unless you're a fast food junkie, pack yours! There is no cafeteria here, and the vending machines are pathetic. There was one food truck outside, and McDonald's and Subway were across the street on Washington Blvd. It's a food desert. When we returned at 1:30PM, we each had to stand up and answer a list of 11 heavy duty questions since it was a DUI case. It was fascinating and surprising to hear some of the answers. By the end of the day, everyone had responded, and we were instructed to return the next morning at 10:30AM. Beware: my courtroom, Department 75 is a meat locker, so bring a ski jacket! Plus, the air conditioner makes cringy inconsistent sounds that are annoying. The building itself is old and feels antiquated, but it gets the job done. The next day, once we were seated, the judge dismissed a number of people. I wasn't one of them. Then, the defense attorney spoke to us. She asked us all a few specific questions, and we had to respond by raising our hand, or not. Then, she asked certain people about their responses. Next, the prosecutor described his method. He, too, asked the group questions, which we replied by raising our hands, or not. Then, he asked particular people things. When that was over, the prosecutor dismissed one person. Then the defense attorney dismissed me. I had to return to the 8th floor to pick up that all-important piece of paper proving I had served for two days. All in all, employees at this courthouse were kind and helpful. Thankfully, everyone tries to make this experience as efficient as possible. Civic duty done!

But it isn't the courthouse's fault! As far as courthouses go, this one is decent, even though it is getting a bit old and isn't in the best area of the city. There is ample parking in the area, and it is much cheaper than the other downtown courthouse (Stanley Mosk). The interior is clean and isn't really falling apart (yet), though it was clearly built in the 1970s or 1980s. Security to get in is typically quite efficient. Also, make sure to check the location of your courtroom - just because it says Department 65, does not mean it is on the sixth floor! That particular department is on the third floor by the way. As far as courthouses go, this place could be much worse. Four stars easily.

Most of the posted reviews are from people who were newly married and registered their coupledom commitment at this office and had pleasant experiences...because well, they just got married and are looking to live life happily ever after ...and I say Good Luck that...lol. The high divorce statistics are against you, maybe or maybe not, you'll be back in this courthouse to probably file for Divorce :( This office has nice helpful staff, but never enough pre and post COVID. This office is where you also pay for all the fines, court fees and parking related offenses and penalties. With all the parking and 'alleged' speeding tickets I've gotten, I feel I'm supporting the parking department :(( Out in the hallway of this office are a couple computers for public use to manage your case/file/violation online, and if the computer system is not down and is functioning/operational, I suggest you manage it online and PRINT a receipt for your PROOF. That saves you time, a trip to this recorder's office and shortens the long wait time here. While in line, sometimes a staffer will help and advise you and sometimes will help resolve your issue on the spot. With the ongoing COVID pandemic, most municipal courthouse and offices are closed, but I am glad this office is open even if hours are limited.

Judge Tricia Garcia is no way interested in justice or fair trials. Today I told her what the other judge said in the other court, and she basically told me to shut up or she would have me arrested. Completely unjust, I was never ever given the opportunity to prevent my side in this case and when I told her that, again the judge made threats. She was not interested in me saying my side, she was only interested in having the other party win or she would not have violated so many of my rights. no matter what proof i gave her she was not interested in hearing the facts or the truth. She only wanted to hear with the other party had to say. I've never been treated so unfairly in my entire life and I've never seen a judge disregard a party in a case like this before. I feel like I was psychologically raped by this judge in her courtroom. If you have to ever go to Pasadena Small Claims Court, I highly recommend you request a transfer away from this judge if you want a fair trial. Many people have already requested changes outside of her courtroom, and they have gotten fair trials elsewhere. Don't have your case heard in front of this judge, Unless you want to see her exercising her power and authority over you regardless if it's done within the perimeter of the law or not. I'm fine to admit when I'm wrong, but this is not one of those times. the other side just told me outside the courtroom that they literally sued me because of someone I have on my staff - they don't like the person managing their property. And they never talk to me about this case before, but I still lost. I told the judge the other side never talk to me about this, but the judge was not interested in hearing anything at all she only wanted me to be quiet If anyone else has been unfairly treated by Judge Tricia Garcia or anyone wants to get together on a Class action lawsuit to do something about this law breaking inside the courtroom (or is working on a criminal case on this subject- because if this continues, I'm sure there will end up being one ), please reach out to me. The bathroom still had their old fixtures, however, the sinks had modern sensored faucets. The cafe on the basement level was expensive. $10 bucks for a dinky sandwich and a bottle of water. On day two, I walked to grab dim sum in Chinatown not too far away. It was definitely better than a dinky sandwich.

In the courtroom, you'll have to use a microphone so it can transmit through the speaker and people can hear you. The bathroom layout here is also bad because the women bathroom and men bathroom are across the hall from each other. There also no cafeteria here either so you'll have to go across the street to Los Angeles Mall or another food place.

They make you regret pressing the charges. My ex abused me for years, left bruises, scars, scratches and busted my mouth multiple times. From the beginning the DA didn't think I should present any evidence of past behavior, I wasn't even allowed to speak upon my behalf of the ordeal I went through. They changed my DA every couple months WITHOUT informing me, the DA's would not call me to update me on anything regarding my case. Just to get updates, I had to consistently call whichever DA was assigned to my case and if I ever received a call back, it was like pulling teeth trying to get answers. All the way until the very end, the DA's are beyond useless and make you feel pathetic or act annoyed for even asking for help or information. The whole ordeal with this court made me feel more broken afterward. Out of the many DA's I had maybe ONE DA actually had empathy and tried. It breaks my heart for anyone else that is in my position having to deal with this courthouse & their DA's.
