They served free breakfast to us including pancakes, granola, berries, nuts, and OJ/Apple juice. While I really appreciated this--it was free--since this is YELP, my review of food if that's all there was: 2-stars. This is not a breakfast place I would go back to--stick with IHOP for the pancakes. But don't call IHOP if you have a burglar trying to break in--BHPD is a much better idea. They had some free swag like key chains, magnets, and coloring books for the children and they were selling tees and hats for donation to their organization, and they had a free photo booth too. They even have a BHPD tee shirt vending machine at the station. We got a tour of the shooting range and the jail. They gave us a lecture/demonstration on the different types of weapons they use for different purposes and distances. They had on hand K-9's and the SWAT team. Fireman from next door stopped by to hang out. They were very cool with allowing photos all over except of the new inmates. The police chief said that all the officers there--and there were many, were volunteering their time to thank the community for supporting the police department and not getting paid to be there. It was great to meet the police chief. That has just got to be one of the most compelling positions in one of the most high profile cities in the world.

Okay, so let's say you get into some legal trouble (umm, not that that would ever happen to me),…read moreand your court sentence is an option between time in Country Jail or Cal Trans. Now let's say you are smart and in court get the judge/prosecutor to agree to letting you sign up for Graffiti removal instead of doing Cal Trans (make sure it's read into the record that you can do graffiti removal). If you do this, when you go to register for your service, make sure you register for West Hollywood Graffiti removal. Why...? Because they are super cool. If you are at all familiar with Cal Trans you will know that at some places, even if they don't start until 6:30 in the morning, you need to get there by about 3:00 am to reserve a spot. Not the case at West Hollywood Graffiti Removal. They never fill up, it's not on a first come first serve basis, and so long as you are there by 6:45 you'll get to do your time. It's also great because instead of working on the freeway and uprooting trees you get to just walk along Santa Monica Blvd. sweeping up cigarette butts, picking up trash etc. (be warned though - wear comfortable shoes, because your route could take you from say Robertson Blvd all the way to La Brea - that's a lot of walking!) Another great thing about it is the people in charge are very cool and don't treat you like a criminal. They don't mind if you stop for coffee, a muffin, etc (at least the guys on the weekend, I can't speak for the people who run it during the week because I only went on Saturdays) (but FYI you are not allowed to talk on your cell phone except during lunch and no headphones/Ipods, etc) Additionally the work hours are great - even though you get credit for a full 8 hours, between the van picking you up and dropping you off, lunch, etc, it feels like much less. Really, if you do get stuck having to do something like this, this is the place to go - much easier work with MUCH less headache, with your time spent walking in pretty neighborhoods with pretty people and great places to go eat for lunch. While I really hope I've learned my lesson and won't have to do this again, if I do I'll definitely be signing up to work here again. (oh and if you're curious, I had to do this because I had about 5 speeding tickets that I didn't pay for over 2 years, several for driving on a suspended license, etc). I had been wanting to come to this library for a while now. As expected, this is a beautiful and…read moreclean library. You can kind of get lost in some of the hidden pockets of it. If you desire a more communal public space, there are plenty of seats in the middle of the library. But if you are looking for a more quiet, subdued, isolated experience, check the far corners of the library at the end of some of the shelves and you'll find perfectly unoccupied spaces to be in your own zone. While I don't love that you have to take a ticket to park, the first two hours here are free. Bonus perk: you don't have to be a resident of Beverly Hills to have a Beverly Hills library card. I signed up for one and I'm looking forward to using this in addition to my LAPL card. Another bonus perk: they offer passport services here.

They are still in their infancy, mentally weak, their behavior is bestial, and in the presence of people with university degrees, they allow themselves, with an insufferable impudence, to give advice of cosmic proportions and cosmic stupidity. Let them get it into their heads that they need to shut up and listen to what they are told. Study and become at least somewhat acceptable members of social society. It's useless to call 911, they hang up, they don't even hand you over to the police. It's also useless to call the police, they don't even want to go, dealing with matters much more important than the crimes happening in the city. You can complain anywhere, to the prosecutor's office, departments, it doesn't matter where, no one cares about it, no one wants to do anything. They will discriminate against you on all grounds and look for reasons to get rid of you, and they will also insult and accuse you of things they themselves are guilty of. I had a very unpleasant experience with the employees of this gendarmerie. On August 19, 2024, between 8 and 9 am, 4 calls were made to this station about an attack by a group of people on me, the police ignored it, only on the 5th call, an hour after the incident, when the crime scene was 10 minutes away, they deigned to show up with dissatisfied faces, as if they had been distracted from very important matters. They showed up when the criminals had already fled the crime scene. Without introducing themselves, who they were and what they were, in some false forms, they speaking with witness to the attack, who was in the window of her apartment on the second floor, and who supported the attackers in their crime, received valuable instructions from her and laughed with her as if they had come to a show, and not to a call about an attack. They behaved insolently, vulgarly, and ill-mannered. Furthermore, they accompanied the victims to the hospital, prevented doctors from providing medical assistance, subjected the victims to a third-degree interrogation, discriminated against them on various grounds, rejected photo and video evidence of the attackers' aggression, did not even want to listen or talk, intimidated them, and threatened to prosecute them for "falsely calling the police and making false accusations." The victims were provided assistance at the hospital only at 5 p.m., where the police car had been watching the victims all this time in the hope that they would catch them doing something. The fact of the attack was hidden. The case was not opened. They threatened and accused us, although, having arrived in the US in 2016, we helped the police catch dangerous criminals who had escaped from prison and were hiding in the same building where the manager attacked us. Later, the sheriff sent us a written thank you for helping the police. That's how bad the memory of the employees of this station is. I would like to note that on August 17, we contacted this police department with a complaint about the criminal acts of the manager of our building, who had repeatedly stalked and attacked us with a group of people by prior agreement. The officer on duty did not even want to accept the statement, trying to reclassify the criminal proceedings into civil ones, as a result of the incompetent actions of the police, there was another attack. Since the criminals remained unpunished, they continued and continue their criminal activity. Question for taxpayers: "Why support such incompetent organizations that do not protect the rights of people and do not stand guard over the constitution and the law?" As the great iron Felix Dzerzhinsky said: "Only saints or scoundrels can serve in government bodies." People should trust law enforcement agencies, and because of such an attitude and inadequate behavior on the part of the police, they lead people into terrible disappointment. The absence of law gives rise to chaos and disappointment!

The Hollywood DMV is not where you expect to feel a rush of victory (like at all) but somehow,…read morethat's exactly what happened. I booked my appointment online, walked in on a Monday morning (traditionally the DMV's version of rush hour), and braced for bureaucratic purgatory. Long weekend and i'm bracing myself or maybe I just have insane luck at these things (2nd review of a dmv -- santa monica) which turned out to be a easy process too. Instead, the entire operation moved with the efficiency of a pit crew at the Indy 500. Within minutes I was checked in, guided to the right window, and treated by staff who were super cheerful, helpful, and fully awake to the concept of customer service. No sighs, no eye-rolling, no mysterious lines that lead nowhere. Just competent people moving things along with surprising grace. I took my renewal test online, so all I needed were paperworks and some confirmation numbers to them. All like that - then a new photo and signed the temp license I got and I was done. Thirty-five minutes door to door. Big ups to yall!!!!

I tried to make one in May, but all of July was already booked. So I decided to try a walk-in experience one day before a major holiday thinking it may not be so busy. I got all of my paperwork together that was required (Birth Certificate and two different types of bills with my name and address on them. I brought my SCE and Gas bills with me). I arrived shortly after they opened (8a) and it was relatively quiet. I was ushered into a room to take a quick Q&A on a computer. It took all but three minutes. I was then told to get in line near window 9 to have my documents approved. There were two lines and they were short and moving. Once my documents were approved, they texted me a number for my appointment. I only had to wait about 20 minutes before my number was announced. After arriving to my window for the in person appointment, my documents were scanned, I reviewed and approved my application, paid the fee, and off I was to the line to get my picture taken. That line was short and my picture was taken in less than 5 minutes. I autographed my name for the license and I was finished. Everyone that worked there was friendly enough. They weren't overly kind, but not rude at all. They were almost robot like. I was in-and-out in under an hour. Excellent! As I was leaving it was definitely getting busier. Going early seems to work best if you can't or don't have an appointment.
