Out of nowhere my computer was dead. It would not power up, no clicks, no lights, nothing. I tried a couple things but with my limited knowledge I was in over my head. I searched multiple ratings and found CCW Technology rated very well and looked to be affordable and trustworthy. I brought my computer in and met with Allen and Angie. Allen grabbed some testing equipment and checked for a few common problems to see if he could get me up and running while I waited. Allen found and showed me a small resistor/chip that blew on my motherboard. I left my computer with CCW and they took care of everything. This was a great experience and I am thrilled with the results! When my hard drive crashed, I first called Secure Data Recovery as they are the first to come up on Google. DO NOT make the mistake of dealing with them! They appear to be local, but they require you to send your drive out of state. Since the turn around time and the inconvenience was stupid, I decided to shop around. Fortunately I found Allen's company. He really is local and he is highly capable! Even in this crazy time of social distancing, he was able to arrange to evaluate the drive the same day that I called him. The other company had given me a "ball park" estimate of $500.00 to $1650.00 and a turn around time of 4-6 weeks. Allen's estimate was $134.00! Which also included him "cloning" my data on to an SSD that I provided to him. The best part was that he was able to finish the repair the next day. My computer now works fine and boots faster than when it was brand new! I very much recommenced this company for all your data recovery needs! So what about Secure Data? They followed up with me today to see if I was still interested, and when I told their rep my story, she proceeded to disparage Allen's company, saying that I was lucky that it was such a simple fix because if he had had to open the drive he would have ruined it. Being relatively new to Utah I had no idea who to take my computers to when they both starting having problems. If you type in "computer repair" in the search box on Yelp, there are many business within my immediate area that claim to do computer repair. If you type "computer repair" into Google you get even more listings. One thing that stood out to me about CCW Technology is that they had some very positive customer ratings. So, I e-mailed the owner of CCW Technology and he responded very quickly. I was able to take both of my computers in immediately, and both of them were repaired within 24 hours. To replace my two computers would have cost me over a 1600 bucks, but I ended up paying a very small fraction of that to have my computers repaired and running like new. Sure, there are other businesses out there that probably could have done the same thing. But to have a business respond to emails quickly, keep in touch with you on every step of the process, see that they don't nickel and dime you on every little thing, is a big deal to me. I had a 1.5TB hardrive fail on me and I had a few companies look at it to see if it was recoverable about 3 years ago. The least expensive place I found was going to charge me $2k for the recovery (File Savers). Luckily I didn't have the money so I had them ship the drive back to be where it sat in a box for the last 3 years.
