.I reached out to CDR because I was interested in changing out the grate in my gas fireplace because the flames are limited to just the center of the unit and I wanted a new unit that had flames that went the full length of the fireplace. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I contacted CDR I explained to Bridgett exactly what I was interested in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was then told before I could have any work done on the fireplace I would need an inspection which costs$175. I was told that the fee would be applied to any work I would have done and since I knew I would be placing the grate I proceeded with the project. They came yesterday and today I find out that I can't replace the grid that would extend the length of the fire place because of city codes. I'm sharing this information because there were other companies that would have done a free inspection. I truly feel that just as they knew I could not have any work done on the fireplace without an inspection they know the requirements to replace a grate. I spent $175 that I did not need to spend. On a good note the technician Caleb was on time and very knowledgeable. Would I recommend CDR as a first choice unfortunately I would have to say no. read more

We have one of the gas fireplaces with the electric switch to turn on/off ... and we could not get it to function properly. I contacted a few service companies and they were all busy as the colder weather had moved in and many people were requiring service. CDR had a slightly higher initial service fee of $145 and couldn't get out quit as soon as some others that were $99. I ended up making two appointments - one with a $99 company who had a "Certified" specialist for my Heatilator fireplace, and the other with CDR a few days later. I figured if the first company fixed it cheaper, I could cancel CDR... The other company came out and the "certified" specialist seemed a little lost from the start. He was making troubleshooting calls back to the office, which could make sense ... except he was supposed to be their expert - hmm. Anyway, an hour and numerous office calls later I was informed I needed to replace my pilot assembly and valve... and that should do the trick. When I asked what kind of protection I had if these fixes were made and it still didn't function correctly I got a blank stare, and then the notice that it still could be something different that was broken so they may need to reassess after the first two fixes.... which were estimated for $710 parts and labor...additional to my original $99. UGH!! With that, I knew I wanted to keep the CDR appointment and get a second opinion and estimate. Melissa showed up - and was very professional and knowledgeable right from the start! Sure enough, the pilot was a malfunction ... so she cleaned it - how smart! :) She then evaluated the rest of the system and made a couple adjustments to the electrical setup and our sensor. Voila! It was all fixed. She also took the time to clean the glass and the components. So amazing, and all within the $145 service fee - saving us from $700 or more in experimental fixes from the other company! Do not bother with anyone else, use CDR! Have a true knowledgeable professional do the job right. If you have to wait a couple extra days and pay a couple extra dollars in service fees, it could save you big time as it did us! I am so impressed with this company (Owner Melissa & Technician Caleb) and recommend them to anyone needing a fireplace repair! Especially if you have electric! I've worked with them twice! I first hired this company in 2017 to repair our fireplace in our home. Melissa was amazing and fixed it on the first visit! Fast forward to January 2022 and the fireplace was giving me problems again. I called to request an appointment with CDR but they were booked out several weeks. I'm sure due to the labor shortage. Unfortunately I made the decision to call another company (on yelp with 90+ reviews) because I didn't have the patience to wait. Big mistake! Not only did I have to deal with a smarty pants/rude technician, they did not repair my fireplace after 4 visits and they accidentally dropped and broke the glass front! That dragged out for 2 1/2 months! That company doesn't keep any parts on hand, they require the customer to buy them on their own. So after that company replaced my glass I called CDR back and spoke with Melissa to share my situation. She was apologetic about their booked schedule and said she felt pretty confident they can replace parts with the ones she has on hand or can order and get it working again. I got an appointment and Caleb the technician arrived with a pleasant friendly personality (great taste in music!). He repaired and fixed my fireplace! It did require him to replace all the parts in my fireplace, but he never gave up! He kept going until it finally worked! The final part he replaced before it started working was the transformer. He was so resourceful and thought to try a different transformer and drove over to Home Depot to buy another one. He came back, installed it and it worked!!! I know not every situation will turn out like mine, but the fact is they are so professional, responsive, timely and thorough, you won't be disappointed when you hire CDR. If you have the time to take off work to wait 5 hours, you will be fine. They will give you a wait window like the cable company. I used them last year and was very pleased. I took off a half- day of work today with a window of "1-5." Being that I am a single household income, it is rare that I take off work at all and when I do, I try to accomplish several appts. I waited from 12:30p till 3p without word, so I made the effort to call for an ETA. Charlie informed me it would be around 5p at the end of my window. Well... you'd have thought at some point that an update could have been passed on to me. But Charlie informed me that the ATT window is 8 hrs, as if I was privileged to only have to wait on THEM 4 hrs. The least any small business can do is be somewhat considerate and personal and give a customer updates on arrival times, not just a text stating the window of time scheduled. ATT works on weekends when I am off work thus it's easier to be available. I don't have the luxury to hire someone to wait around for cable or a fireplace tech while I'm at work. To follow up and be fair, .. I did cancel my appointment within the window at 3p as I mentioned, but they did not give any updates on arrival time and I do not recall being told a 30 min heads up would be given, otherwise, I would not have been at home twirling my thumbs. But here nor there, they did a good job last year... just know that you could be waiting around for a bit. I have revised my review to be more constructive instead of defensive for my time lost. A take home from the review... maybe send out a simple text just for updates if possible. As you can read in other reviews, they do a good job when they provide the service, and I would recommend. Maybe next year we'll get to new logs instead of having to service my old logs. read more

I just want to say that this company came highly recommended to me by another fireplace business that had gone out of business. I first called on January 21, 2021 to inquire about receiving a quote for a remodel. I was told that my information would be passed to Amber. Amber called me back within an hour and I explained what we wanted and she asked me to send her pictures of our current fireplace. I did those things and we sent a few more messages back and forth. The next day I messaged her because I still had no details about what brand fireplaces they sell or when I could expect to receive a quote. She then suggested a fireplace, told me to choose which size and send it to her in email and she would get me a quote on a fireplace and for framing. It's been 3 weeks and I've heard nothing. Had not used our propane gas fireplace in quite a few years and needed to get it going again. Called the Fort Worth company that sold it to us 17 years ago to see if they had a technician that would come out and look at our unit. They told me that they didn't sell the Heatilator fireplaces any more and did not seem too interested in sending someone to look at it.
