        Promoting, presenting & sustaining the arts in Cecil County! Year round we have jewelry, prints, greeting cards, gifts, handbags, ceramics, pottery, giclees, carvings, turned wood items, acrylics, oils, pastels, and pen & ink works of art for sale! We offer art, music and dance classes, too! Every Wednesday at 10am artists bring their supplies and work together in our sunny gallery and every 1st and 3rd Tuesday, a poetry group meets to share their latest renditions! Join us for our free concerts, our free gallery receptions, our wine & dine dinners and, for the first time, our "art of cooking" class!

        History

        Established in 1977.

        The Cecil County Arts Council is open Monday thru Friday, 10am-4pm, and the first Saturday from 10am-2pm (unless closed due to holiday). The Arts Council acts as a clearinghouse for information on the arts in Cecil County. Now in its 37th year, the Arts Council is a non-profit organization, dedicated to "presenting, promoting and sustaining the arts in Cecil County". Supported, in part, by funding provided from the state and county, as well as sponsorships and individual contributions, the Arts Council is also a membership organization. Arts Council members include: Artists Educators Students Families At various venues throughout Cecil County, the Arts Council provides opportunities for the residents of our community to experience art events. Free concerts Exhibitions at multiple locations Workshops Classes The Arts Council also provides grant and scholarship opportunities to community residents, organizations and schools.

      From the owner: The Cecil County Help Center operates a food pantry that is designed to assist people who are…read morefacing food insecurity throughout Cecil County. The pantry directly serves individuals on a daily basis by providing food that is donated by a variety of community partnerships. Individuals and families can receive food commodities by visiting the Help Center, Monday-Friday between the hours of 9am-12pm and 1-3:30pm. Individuals and families may be eligible for emergency food designed to provide meals for 3-5 days through a referral made by the Department of Social Services. To receive a referral from the Department of Social Services, individuals should contact the Homeless Outreach and Services Intake Center at 443-986-3548. The Cecil County Help Center also serves as a hub for other food pantries and faith-based organizations that have the mission of meeting the needs of those facing food insecurity. The Help Center receives food from a variety of partners including the Maryland Food Bank. This food is then distributed to local pantries in various parts of the County to ensure that citizens have convenient access when a need arises.

The Food Bank has benefits the different communities nearby, like Newark and Wilmington, with items being donated to help those in need. I have helped with different groups throughout my time in Delaware and have always been a big advocate of trying to support local non-profits whenever I get a chance. This sometimes has a delicious reward with money spent at the Discovery Cafe supporting the cause while enjoying some yummy curry chicken salad wrap for lunch on my day off. The Cafe has some indoor and outdoor seating along with some fresh produce for some homecooked meals at home. Stop in to help the Food Bank during their different events, volunteer with friends or your company and enjoy some yummy meals afterwards all going to a great cause.

I called a number of local shoe repair places and Clarke's was the first one to answer that had weekend hours so I opted to give them a try. Initially, I dropped off the shoe and was told I would get a call with an estimate. I dropped them off on a Saturday and had heard nothing by the following Sunday so I reached out via Facebook messenger and left my number. I was called back by Farrell, the owner, and given a quote, a time estimate and an option to pay via PayPal (they don't do credit cards). Once that was all squared away, Clarke's went to work on my shoe. When it was finished Farrell called me to let me know I could pick it up and explained a little about what he did to the shoe. While Bel Air is a bit of a drive for me, the customer service and quality of the work that Clarke's provided means I will be returning in the future.

He just fixed a strap on my luxury purse that is a vintage piece. His prices are very decent and he really takes his time. He had one of my moms pieces for over a year due to covid but he wanted to also make sure it was PERFECT...and when I tell you he meant that...he truly did because it came out AMAZING! Looked brand new! All in all he has now found yet another loyal customer. If you need shoes, luxury handbags or anything such as a strap that is leather take it to this guy, he won't let you down!
