I see reviews where this place was busy...not today. 10am on a Saturday morning and I'm the only table. CU game is on so maybe everyone is watching the game? Edit: that's not the case. I drove by J&Ls and it was full, as was village inn. I'm not a coffee snob and lived off shite hotel coffee for months. This coffee was garbage...watery. When I mentioned it, and asked for a cup when there was a fresh pot, they replied, "that's the only coffee we have". Found this place driving along the interstate and decided to stop here for lunch... what a busy place, which is always a great sign! Barely see any places use paper straws anymore, yet here you can find them... love the old school touch... The Good: This seems to be the place for all the locals to go for lunch and you can feel it in the welcoming atmosphere. As out of towners we didn't get any funky looks but instead we treated as if we come here twice a week. Our son's Mexican Burger was very delicious and my wife's Gourmet Grilled Chicken Salad did not disappoint at all either. The Bad: My Taco Salad was more of a ground beef salad with tortilla chips and salsa in the side. It was a well tasting salad, yet not earning the Mexican part if it at all. The dressings on my wife's Gourmet Grilled Chicken Salad were also pre packaged and that surprised us a bit as most places like this take pride in making dressings from scratch. The Ugly Truth: We were very delighted with the welcoming smiles and large portions of mouth watering options for our lunch stop. We will definitely consider stopping in again if we pass through when they are open (see the bfast and lunch open times) it would have earned a 5 star plus if the Taco Salad would have had some type of Mexican taste to it. It's a cute place with a nice vibe but the food wasn't great. My husband got a bacon cheeseburger that was alright but some of the fries that came with it were not cooked long enough. I got the chicken fried steak meal and it was the equivalent of a freezer meal that you could warm up in the microwave. Twice my husband and I have been kicked out of this restaurant because they said they were closed but they're open sign was still on and there was several people in the diner. On our way home to Nebraska from our road trip to Denver we decided to try a little small town dining.. The reviews and pictures looked fabulous.. The customer service was very welcoming, the older decor made me feel like I was a kid again, and the place was super busy the whole time we were here.. I ordered the gourmet grilled chicken salad which was huge and the flavor in the chicken (and the amount) was great, I was very impressed.. My husband had a taco salad which was big as well but the meat was just regular hamburger not very flavorful and basic tortilla chips as the crust or shell, not a lot of flavor and was pretty disappointed in that.. Our son tried the Mexican burger, odd enough covered in sauce. He ate all the fries with the sauce which left the burger itself lacking in flavor (if he ate it all with the sauce it may have been better), I thought it was pretty good. Bright, clean, place. Pleasant cheery staff. I opted not to do the buffet (even though it's a value I usually hurt myself ) and went with the "day's special" steak tacos. I freaked a little when my order came out. PRE-FORMED HARD TACO SHELLS??? WTF? Well, I ordered them so I ate 'em. They really should be called meat and potatoes tacos because that's what's in 'em. This place is great! We camp out at N. Sterling every weekend during the summer, so I actually have been here numerous times. Numerous as in if my family missed a weekend they wondered where we were. We would also plan our timing to arrive out there just as the buffet started (we live 2 hours away).Anyway, you can get buffet or order off the menu, but honestly, I don't think I've ever seen anyone order. (Why order when you can have the buffet, duh?!) Friday night has been all you can eat ribs, and whereas I am not a rib fan, everything else is always excellent. Everything is always fresh and homemade. I love the bread sticks, they go so good with the pizza, spaghetti, and meat sauce! Doesn't even compare to your typical pizza chains! The owners are super nice, and even noticed when my mom wasn't a fan of the typical pepperoni or sausage, so asked her what she would like and made it for her. And on my parents 38th wedding anniversary, they made then a special peach dessert pizza and cinnamon sticks, which were even excellent later while sitting around a campfire! read more

5 stars all the way!! The owner was very courteous and seated us quickly. We arrived little after noon for the buffet. We had been traveling all morning and were starved. There was a full salad bar with homemade dressings And fresh fruit. Spaghetti was fresh and the sauce was flavorful and meaty. The Jimmy sticks were heavenly. Pizza was fresh thin crust with good cheese. There were even hamburger patties and all the goodies to build a burger. Our service was incredible. Food amazing and reasonably priced.
