These animals are sheared every year for their super warm fur; Alpaca fur is 7% warmer than sheep's wool, and it's super soft! The natural colours are nice enough, but Cheff Fields also sells some spun and dyed yarn as well. At their booth at the Carp farmers market, they have several skeins in different thicknesses on display and for sale for knitting, as well as some items already made of alpaca yarn. But my review is based on an actual site visit with the Ottawa Knitting Guild. Some of us met first at a coffee shop in Stittsville, and took the drive in convoy out to Renfrew to visit the farm. There, Catherine and Dwight (the owners) took us on a tour of the facility, permitting us to pet and feed the animals - the very soft alpacas, one very loud dog, and one of the biggest horses I have seen in a very long time! They have quite a wonderful set up! It's a large facility with several out-buildings including an old log cabin that is still functional with a working modern kitchen, living room and a few bedrooms and a washroom, where they hosted about 20 of us members of the Guild. After the site tour, we met in the log cabin for refreshments, to browse the yarns, along with the knitted and crocheted items on display. There was also an area rug, with kits available to make your own. It was very worth the visit, and everyone had a good time. They have a very nice building that houses nice washrooms, a lunch counter (think hamburgers, chilli, hot chocolate and the like) as well as a gift store type area with a fire place and seating where you can just sit and warm up. We found many nice trees - and found our perfect tree quickly. They do supply saws - but we always try to bring our own as ours tends to be sharper than the shared saws at a cut-your-own operation, so I can't comment on their saws. Remember to bring rope to tie your tree to your vehicle. (I assume they have some, but best to come prepared.) Tractor pulled wagon rides get you out to the fields, where a fireplace and benches are available for you to use while you wait for the return right. Lovely property. Would I return: Yes. Our ladies were super-excited to create a bouquet to take home. We had guests from age 3 to 88.....just look at the picture to see how happy they are. The Fleur Bloom Bar arrived promptly at 11:30 and set-up a beautiful display of what I had ordered. They stayed throughout the shower from 1-4 and assisted people building their bouquets with displays and information. (They were there for a long time!) They even created a bouquet of the remaining flowers for me to take home! They supplied paper sleeves & ribbon. I would highly recommend their business. They were super professional & helpful. (The team of 3 even dressed all in black & provided beautiful table runners for me to use under the Bridal Shower presents.) Excellent idea for a Bridal or Baby Shower, a Birthday, an Anniversary, a Garden Party etc. Their service is well priced....especially with all they do! Communication is excellent. I was actually hoping to find a shower curtain to update mine but nothing struck my fancy. Since I was in the mood for looking at household items, I browsed the kitchenware section and then noticed the clothing rack at the front of the store. If you are doing Zoom meetings or engaging with family members on Skype or other apps, you know that you are always in need of colourful tops--blouses, T-shirts, sweaters, and of course, scarves. Light, frothy tops layered over a camisole are perfect for summer Zooms and as when the temps cool in the evening, a long-sleeve, form-fitting spandex garment can be worn underneath. O la la, c'est très chic!. Along with several blouses, I noticed a boho bag that looked as if it might be from the sixties. Then, as I was rushing out the door to dash between the raindrops, my eye caught a multi-strand, copper necklace. The jewellery section is sort of hidden along a wall near the coffee cup section and might be a bit tangled from my last visit but well-worth a looksee.
