So for the longest time I never went into Apple Saddlery because I thought it just sold equestrian…read moresupplies, and I don't ride horses. Then one day one of my friends told me they also sell clothes. I said "yeah, like riding breeches that make you look like you're wearing a diaper? No thank you." She said "no, like regular clothes." Being the shopper that I am, I had to check it out. My friend was right, they do have regular clothes. Well, they are more "outdoor adventure/active lifestyle" kind of clothes. Like what you would find at Sail, Mountain Equipment Co-Op and Bushtakah. They have a huge selection of Royal Robbins and they carry my favourite brand of this kind of clothing, Toad & Co. (formerly called Horny Toad - and I'm so glad they changed the name because I used to get a lot of funny looks when I asked stores if they carry Horny Toad). Anyway, prices are on par with other stores that sell this kind of clothing. They do have a clearance section at the back of the store where items are marked down and prices can be quite low. If you need to use the fitting room and staff aren't around, there's an old school bell on the wall that you ring. It's pretty cool! I can't speak about any of their equestrian supplies because I don't know anything about such things, but there's a huge selection. Staff are always friendly and nice. The parking lot is unpaved and bumpy with potholes everywhere, so be careful!

They do have free range chickens and ducks running around as well. It's only $10 a person and it's worth it for a fun outing. If you do go please respect the rules of not chasing the chickens and ducks, you might very well give them a heart attack. And no one wants to see that. But I'd definitely recommend it especially if you've got kids. They've even got information plaques about all the animals around the place so it's fun and educational.

Saunders Farm is not a place that I would go of my own accord because It's too far outside of the city for me and I like neither farms nor horror experiences. However, I found myself going there with my husband, a friend and the friend's two kids. Overall, it was not as bad as I thought it would be, lol. We went during the day in September, so my review is of the farm-themed amusement park. General admission was $29 a person. I think they are only open September through December with it being most popular around Halloween. There were a few mazes, haunted houses that you walk through, and lots of play structures. There was also a zipline, which the kids did, but I did not. The zipline is not included in the general admission and was an additional $15 a person. They also had tractor rides, a Harvest one that was scenic and not meant to be scary and a Haunted one which had a few scares. They also had a big bouncy area like a bouncy castle but no walls or ceiling. They also had puppet shows, a theatre show and a monster parade. They have carnival games where you shoot cans, toss rings and things like that for prizes. There are no roller coasters or bumper cars. They have a few gift shops with very overpriced items. The candy store had no prices on the candy and our friend bought a few pop rocks, airheads and a lollipop for his kids and it was over $20. They have a few different places to eat as well. A few sit down restaurants and a few food court vendors where you take your food and eat at one of the picnic tables on the grounds. I had chicken tenders at "What the Cluck?" and it was $14 for 3 small chicken tenders and some fries. I was happy that the chicken tenders were real chicken breast meat and although they were small, they tasted good. The fries were nice and crispy too. The only thing I didn't like is staff dump the fries from the fryer into a large metal holding container and when customers ordered fries I saw staff grabbing the fries with their bare hands putting them into the paper containers and giving them to the customers. I'd think that would be hot and uncomfortable for staff, not to mention unhygienic for customers. The guy handling the chicken used tongs to place the chicken in the container, but fries guy bare handed it! WTF! Use some tongs or wear gloves, please. My husband got a Pogo with fries $10 at "Pogos + Poutine." This is where our friend and his kids got food as well. "Pogos + Poutine" and "What the Cluck?" have different menus but they share the same kitchen space. So their fries were handled by bare hands guy too. Overall, I think Saunders Farm is good for kids and families during the day. I can't speak to their Frightfest that happens at night. There's free parking on the grounds. This is a review for Frightfest!…read more I came on a Sunday evening with a few friends. Tickets were purchased in advance and were pricier than I thought it would be $60 each. I think if you bought them further in advance, there was a possibility to get 15% off. This was my first time visiting Saunder's farm and I was really impressed. Super scary and well-planned haunted houses! I think this would make a good night out for groups We came on a rainy and cold night and it was pretty busy. Lines for the haunted houses were between 10-45 minutes each. It was overall very organized and fun! Not for the very young (too scary) or if you have walking difficulties (it was muddy and slippery so definitely could potentially fall). Would definitely come again!

5 Stars isn't enough!…read more Phannenhour Berry Farm is an absolute gem and easily one of the best farm experiences I've had anywhere, I would go so far to put it on my Mount Rushmore of berry farms. From the moment I arrived, it was clear how much care and pride goes into this place. The farm itself is BEAUTIFUL, both charming, welcoming, and thoughtfully decorated in a way that makes you want to slow down and enjoy being there. It's the kind of place where you can't help but smile while you're walking around. Now let's talk about the berries because WOW. The quality is outstanding. Fresh, flavorful, and clearly picked with care, these are the kind of berries that remind you what fruit is supposed to taste like. Whether you're eating them straight from the container or taking them home for baking, they are top-tier in every way. The whole experience, from purchasing the berries to spending time on the farm, felt genuine and joyful. You can tell this is a place run by people who truly care about what they do and about their customers. Honestly, if you're reading any negative reviews, I have to question whether those folks even visited the same place because Phannenhour Berry Farm delivers excellence across the board. Ferme Lève-Tôt is a CSA - Community-Supported Agriculture - farm in the Outaouiais. They provide…read moregreat armfuls of certified organic vegetables weekly or every second week from June to October. They are also vendors at the Westboro and Wakefield farmer's markets. CSAs are a partnership between farmers (in this case, a small family farm) and the people who eat their delicious home-grown food. CSA partners (that's you and me) purchase a share at the beginning of the growing season, helping the farmers to cover expenses when they occur. Then, as vegetables ripen, CSA partners receive a share of the harvest. My neighbours and I (3 adults) shared a weekly basket last season. We were very satisfied with the quality, quantity, and variety of the produce (though the baskets were smaller at the beginning of the growing season). We are all big veggie-eaters so the new "family size" basket might have been more appropriate for us. The value of each week's basket was far in excess of the ~$30 per week price ... we would have paid more for non-organic non-local non-fresh produce at Loblaws. In addition to being "100-mile diet"-friendly, I would recommend CSAs as a great way to make connections in the community.
