We have always camped in tents, but one year someone from our group rented a yurt, and it was awesome! Great family friendly place. Lots of things to do with the kids. They have a pond with inflatables, which the kids love. They also have a pool. There is also a pillow bounce thing and playground. A major plus is that they have bathrooms and showers! It is a pretty large place and gets booked up quick! The prices are reasonable, but have gone up over the years. They do have a store there, but be prepared to pay. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They have activities throughout the week so be sure to check the events calendar.

After emailing them I received a rather prompt response that our tent was welcome on one of their back in sites, which I'm very glad we chose because it had a little paved driveway that fit a picnic table, our car, and had a little space left over that our toddler loved drawing on with chalk. Check in was super easy, and very friendly. All the staff we interacted with were happy to help and answer our questions. This is a VERY family oriented campground, there are kids everywhere, but it was a blast! They have a huge sand pit area that has giant jumping pillow, a tether ball pole, some plastic playsets, and a large swimming pond with lots of inflatables. There is also a pool, but it was closed for the season. At the main lodge there are board games, carpet ball, giant games, and a handful of arcade games. The bathrooms were also very well kept. There were a limited number of flushing toilets on the overnight campgrounds, as a good portion of the area is used for seasonal permanent campers. However, there were port-a-potties very strategically placed and well maintained. Showers are 50 cents for 7 minutes. I would highly recommend this campground! We are already looking at coming back next year. It's also very close to Devil's Lake, but a little too far to walk to (parking at the Lake is $16).

As I drove through the campground there were a lot of travel trailers with structures built around them. It looked like horrible. During my stay the same poop marks remained on the toilets the entire 3 days I was here. The final weekend I was awoke at dawn to a barrage of shotgun fire. Duck season opened and since the entire shoreline is weeds and rush its prime duck habitat. All morning shotguns were going off like a small war. My dog was flipping out. So they don't clean the showers or toilets. The place looks like a ghetto, and there's gunfire to rival any war zone. Oh yes, let's stay here!!!

Not only would they not work with us, but they also laughed at us for even asking. Extremely rude host. I didn't expect a refund but was hoping to at least be able to reschedule for another time down the road without losing all of our payment. I wouldn't recommend this campground to anyone.

They are really bright! Watch out cause when you leave they came up with excuses to charge more money to my credit card. "Cleaning Covid Clean" What there was just two of us there for a couples weekend. only used hot tub and our bed not even used shower or even cooked there! Hotels have had a guide line to stand by with dealing with theses things for cleanliness forever. it is the same for covid. IF u ran a clean place before covid. ITs the same!! PLUS I had no idea of theses fees till after I left and they had my credit card! there's nothing i can do about it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is getting ripped off. I have been to a lot of places in Wi. this one I wouldn't trust or come back to. there are better places in the area!

Antiquated is a very nice word for the bath house! The cement floor of the shower is disgusting. Flowered cloth shower curtains and a plastic lawn chair separate the two showers. Gorgeous property but not conducive to a relaxing camping experience.

We were able to crank up the tunes and not have to worry about bothering anyone. Prices were OK, I think it was $15 per tent per night. They have a building with bathrooms and showers (7 minutes for a quarter in the shower!), which is nice for the ladies who don't want to "rough it" all that much. Ask for a campsite on the hill, you get a nice view, and there's only 3 sites on the hill. We had all three to ourselves, so basically our own little hill, it was cool! I'm sure there are plenty of closer campgrounds around, but it was kinda nice to drive 3 hours into the middle of nowhere in WI to get there.

Wifey ordered the NEW wrap with chicken, vegetables, cashews and cranberries and blue cheese crumbles, and most importantly, poppy seed dressing. Chips and a nice pickle accompanied the wrap. Total clean plate club. I had the Philadelphia cheese steak. Generous portion of thinly sliced prime rib with onions, peppers, mushrooms and a slice of melted mozzarella cheese. Dipping gravy was excellent. I traded up to sweet potato fries - they were superb and came with a spicy ranch dressing for dipping. We had wonderful service in a quiet and comforting setting. Highly recommend without any reservations. The best meal we have ever had at the Riverside.

This was the vacation spot I was most looking forward to and the one I was most disappointed by. The best parts? 1- Mt. Horeb is an amazingly wonderful small town we will be sure to return to. 2- The radiant heat throughout - no cold floors. 3- An iPod with 6,000 songs hooked up to a nice stereo system. Our beef? At $110/night, we strongly feel the Gonstead Guest Cottage is overpriced. We resented the 2-night minimum stay once we got there, and hated learning that we would be charged $10 to use their wood (we got a cord of wood from the gas station down the street for $5). We thought the price would guarantee us a nice stay. We were sadly mistaken and will not stay here again. Yes, clean (if you overlook the cobwebs) but you can't escape the strong smell of smoke from the fireplace. No problem, right? We'll just air it out. Sadly, that's not possible as the owners removed the hand cranks from the windows. Yes, they have bikes for you to use, but no air in the tires (even after promising to remedy this). Yes, they have a full kitchen with nice cookware but if they are charging so much it needs renovation. We'd also been told there would be cereal avaialble for us but nothing was there. We did love the town and will be back to visit it. We'll just seek alternate accommodations next time :) As a frequent B&B customer, I know my money should go further than it did here and am sorely disappointed in my stay.

That was written by a woman about 4 years ago. During better times. As far as the previous owners better times I concur, a very solid 5 stars as well as glowing kind words. As previously experienced her words were spot on and this little motel was very reasonably priced and a fine place to stay. At least I'm certain they properly reflected this lovely property and spoke very well of Linda the woman I got to know beginning around June 2021. That was before. New ownership means new something new to follow. Change is the only thing that always remains the same. Here's new ownerships benefits: * Increased price! * No WiFi / Internet! * AC promptly broke down, during last heat wave! (STILL DOWN!) * Seven surveillance cameras! * BOX ELDERS! More than you can kill! * On Site septic system, overdue for routine maintenance since AUGUST! * Flies outnumber Boxelders 5:1 on warm days! * Even when the new owner assured me this wasn't going to be affecting myself or any of the current residents. I've been renting a room as an office for my small handyman/electrical service business office June 2021. When the internet/WiFi was removed, and an assured promise it's return in a week came and passed, becoming 6 weeks and instead of the WiFi reappearing, a dozen surveillance cameras sprouted up like mushrooms one night. Some appear to be powered, others not. The AC stopped working just as the final Indian summer resurgence of +80F a week ago. All said, this is not likely to be a thing once new owners. Word in the area of small time remodeling/construction companies such as mine is the slumlord LLC that are Bel Aires proud new owners, are owners of at least 4-5 properties in the Madison area. This is more of a preview. Though my words primarily and accurately review my actual experience as a resident for 5 months.

I liked that it had hard floors instead of carpet. The bathroom was clean & had a beautiful shower curtain like one I'd find at home. I will be staying here again next time I'm in town visiting family.
