My son and I stayed at Fireside Campground on a cross-country trip. This was our favorite camping site of them all. The owners were friendly and helpful, and the community at the campground was welcoming. I heartily recommend this as a great place to stay. We stayed here a few weeks ago, hoping to get one last camping weekend in before the cold. The campground is extremely easy to find and close to nearby attractions and shopping, should you forget something. We stayed while they were celebrating Halloween at the campground; a haunted house, decor, activities, and trick-or-treating. When we went to check-in, the door to the office was locked but someone quickly notified us via intercom that they would be right down to help us. The gentleman that helped us check in was incredibly friendly, offered up Wi-Fi information, and escorted our purchased firewood (and us) to our site. The campground is a lot bigger than we expected. There are several permanent sites here but lots of sites for RVs and tents as well. We were impressed with how secluded each site feels, there are a lot of mature trees. The extra touches, like a pumpkin at each campsite, was really thoughtful. The bathrooms were also insanely clean. They offered shower mats for their shower stalls, which I've never seen before. Just a lot of nice, personal touches. Unfortunately the cold got to us and we ended up leaving Saturday afternoon before the festivities took place. The owner saw us leaving and asked if everything was OK, he was concerned that we were leaving early. We will absolutely be staying at this campground again! read more

After visiting the House on the Rock we needed a place to stay. I did a google search and found Fireside Campground and so happy we were able to stay. We were a bit early in the season (April 5) and not much is open. When I called and spoke with Rick he was able to accommodate our class C motorhome. When we arrived Rick got us all set. Later we were able to meet his wife Lynn. We had a great conversation with Rick and Lynn about how they came to be camp owners, the improvements they have made and continuing to make. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely stay at Fireside Campground. read more

The couple that operates Fireside Campground are extremely friendly and helpful. They recently bought the campground and have created an inviting, pleasant place to camp and relax. The grounds are very well taken care of, with plenty of space for big groups. The bathrooms were cleaner than any I've seen at a campground. The pricing was so reasonable. I had a group of 10 people and they only charged us $10 per tent. And again, the owners were so inviting and accommodating. I'll definitely stop here again if I'm in the area. read more

Dead trees at the site we were on and I mentioned to the owner I believe her name is Lynn and she could care less! I took pictures in case the storms that were happening took down the trees on our camper. It is a campground where they cater to seasonals. Letting dogs off leash and then coming to our site telling our friends that their dog was barking at 11pm, my friend said we were all in bed and asleep at 11pm so it wasn't us. Rick was very nice and helpful when we had an issue but you can tell Lynn runs the show. She was very rude to me. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK. Save your money! read more

The person checking us in was very nice. My one complaint is that there was two separate large piles of dog poop, and the fire pit had somebody's fast food garbage. It really was a put off to have to clean up after someone else's dog before we could even get settled in. read more

The campsite was nice. Just wish there was more to do. We booked for 3 nights and ended up leaving early because we got so bored. We went to lone rock town and nothing to do there. If you want to find something to do, you have to drive. I like to be able to walk to go fishing or taking a hike, not drive 5 to 10 minutes away. If you like to be active during camp, this isn't the place for you. read more

My girlfriend and I stayed there for some "primitive" camping in mid-July '14. We wanted not to be "on top" of everyone else, and this campground delivered. The site we had was wonderful, secluded, we couldn't even see other campers in the site right next to us. We were warned of mosquitos, and they were out in this wooded campground. But with the chemical protection and coils we brought were enough to not be bothered. The bathrooms and cleanup facilities were wonderful and clean. They have other sites for group camping, and RV "camping", it you prefer. We did have to drive a little bit to get to places, but the area is beautiful and near to many nice views and things to do. It all depends on what you find interesting and want to get into. Personally, we went to the Cave of the Mounds about 25 mins away, and went to the Wisconsin River for some canoing about 5 minutes away. As well as some farmers markets/stands to get some good veggies and fruit for meals. But next time we want to spend more time at the campsite. My girl and I will be returning and take our bikes next time for some nice trails very nearby. I would definately reccommend this place to others. read more

We love it there. Very secluded and feels like "real camping". They have everything you need. We have a camp-out here every year and always have a blast. SO nice to have hot showers and flush toilets! This place is run by great people; friendly and very accommodating. Fairly close to the Dells and House on the Rock. We are still exploring the area. Stayed here in summer 2012. 5 stars for the campsite we were at- we are tenters and tend to avoid private campgrounds as the sites are too close together and noisy. Not here- wonderful site and quiet! Really nice! 5 stars for the bathrooms- always stocked, clean and warm showers. Even a sharps disposal (my son is a Type 1 diabetic, so we really appreciated that.) 4 stars as they were still working on other parts of it, but it is still nice and the store was frequently closed. Husband, teenagers and I all liked it- would def go again! read more

We camped at Fireside to be more in the "woods" and real camping. The grounds are quiet, and the sites were spacious, although ours was a bit sandy. All was functional at our full hookup site. The owners are very helpful and friendly, in fact were so kind as to mail us back our water pressure regulator after we forgot it on the spigot when we left. The playground area kept the grand kids busy and they have some kids activities on the weekends. Close to the attractions of Spring Green, Gov Dodge State park (wow) and even the Dells for a bit of a drive. We stayed at fireside in a fifth wheel. read more

Dave and I loved camping at the Fireside. You want piece and quiet we found it here. The weather was rather hot one day which kept us inside but other wise it was wonderful. Lynn and Rick Collins are wonderful hosts that keep the bath house, laundry, and camping spots clean. We can't wait to go camping there in the fall when the leaves are in color. Simple and quiet. About 6 tent spots to chose from along with a bunch of RVs. Not super primitive but private enough. Clean and well kept. They have firewood and snacks for purchase. They do a great job maintaining these cute little grounds. If your just looking to set up camp for the night, it's a great base location with House on The Rock and Talesian nearby. About 45 mins from Devils Lake. Cheaper than staying at the state park. We stayed and Devils lake late park the night before which was noisy and twice the price. The state park is more woodsy and in great location, but this was just as private. read more

My family stayed at Fireside last weekend and had a great experience. The owners could not have been nicer! Our tent site was perfect, lots of trees as well as plenty of flat area for the tent. The bathrooms were extremely clean with fresh clean mats for the shower. The water temperature in the shower was perfect and there was even a sink outside the bathroom where you could wash dishes if you needed to. You can tell the owners care about the campground because it is well taken care of and they are very accommodating. At night we played games in the screened in pavilion where there is a pool table, darts, etc. It was clean and bug free! We will come back again! read more

We've been back to Fireside several times, in groups and as a family. Their group sites are perfect, the bathrooms are super clean -- and let's be honest, the bathrooms are the be all, end all of a campground. The owners are very nice and even remember us when we call. My kids love going to Fireside and we love that there is so much to do. There is an enormous state park/natural area across the street that follows the lower Wisconsin waterway. The bike path is right across the street as well. Devil's Lake State Park is about a 40 minute drive but is well worth the day trip for swimming. Eagle caves are nearby as well which the kids loved so much, we stopped at Cave of the Mounds on the way home! Fireside is clean, quiet, and well maintained and we are glad we found it! read more

We went to Fireside campground over this last weekend and stayed 2 nites. The hostess were very friendly, and helpful. The bathrooms were very clean and the showers were excellent. The sites were very nice and it was very quiet. There were things to do around the area like winerys, house on the rock, and cave of the mounds. It was alittle drive to everything but the scenery is breath taking with all the rolling hills and valleys! read more

A wonderful campsite with wonderful, friendly people running it. The bathrooms/showers are clean,well maintained. There is a separate dish washing sink around the corner outside.The fire rings near the campsite are large. Firewood is sold at the campsite for a reasonable price and delivered to your campsite, gratis. Other camper are friendly, and there is plenty of privacy. When getting ready to leave we experienced truck trouble. The owners allowed us to use their jumper cables get the truck started. There is an childrens play area that is nice and a small miniature golf course one can play for free. I highly recommend this campsite! read more

My husband and myself spent Labor Day weekend (2016) here. We enjoyed the campground very much. The owner was happy to deliver ice and wood to us and other campers. We met some great guest here and enjoyed our time with them also. We will be sure to visit this campground again. read more
