It has been many years since I last visited Cedar Lee, mostly due to no longer residing in the Cleveland area. While visiting friends and family I decided to catch a film. Cedar Lee was the only theater showing that particular film. It does not look like much changed since my previous visits. I love the look and feel of old movie theaters. They may not have the amenities of modern chains, but I still enjoy the experience. There was no line when I arrived and I was able to purchase my ticket. Price was very reasonable compared to other theaters. I had just eaten lunch so I didn't get anything at the concession stand. The seating in theater was stadium style and the seats were comfortable. My only gripe was it was a tad bit warm, but it was far from unbearable. Public, free parking is available in the area. There are numerous restaurants and bars in the area.

Recliner seats, the usual snacks and adult beverages for purchase. $5 Monday movie nights. There are plenty of restaurants to pop in to before or after a movie. Free parking is behind the theater or rarely a spot opens up on the side of the road. There is no meter parking anymore. Do not park across the street at CVS.

Ok ok so I'm sure by now you have read my last review. This is the other side of it. After dinner the 13 of us went to see the Ricky horror picture show. This was a quaint little theater holding 360 people. What a great place for this event. So they show the film and also have a life troop perform it at the same time. If you went in highschool well it still works. The troop has all the lines and shout out perfect and have updated a few as well. This is a must see and please get some one who had not seen it to go with you. The theater itself is great not q bad seat. Yes you have to pay to park but it was .75 for 3 hrs. Very very reasonable in today's time lol. The show is fine the first Saturday of every month. Go go go gave open mind and have a blast.

Cedar Lee drew me in most recently for one of their monthly Cult Film Series showings. The title: 2001: A Space Odyssey. Being an independent theater, Cedar Lee shows predominantly harder to come by, low-budget, indie, documentaries and foreign films. This theater is also famous for their Cult Film Series. On the first Saturday of each month, a different "cult film" is featured. Also on the first Saturday of each month, it's tradition they show Rocky Horror Picture Show at midnight. Dressing in drag is encouraged. A few advantageous specials to note: Admission is $5 on Monday's. Free 32oz popcorn on Tuesdays. Half priced beer & wine on Wednesdays. On Thursdays, a student ID will get you an admission for $6. Cedar Lee is a little rough around the edges, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Above the entrance is a classic marquee. Inside, the decor is vintage art-deco. The concession stand offers a variety of craft brews as well as wine. They also have local coffee & espresso's from Phoenix Coffee. If you're into food, the theater sells an assortment of cakes, cookies, tea biscuits and even wraps from Tommy's on Coventry. This of course in addition to typical movie snacks such as ju ju bees and fresh-popped popcorn. The seating isn't as comfy or as roomy as in some of the new mega-theaters. The sound isn't as boisterous either, but what it lacks in technology, it makes up in character. And character goes a long way with me. One of the things I appreciate most about Cedar Lee is the general audience compared to that of the mega-theaters. You typically won't find this place as a hangout for droves of teens spoiling a film by chatting it up through an entire feature. Instead, Cedar Lee Theater goers seem more refined and appear to have an overall better appreciation towards the arts. Do you read me, HAL?

This is inside one of the 'micro' theaters. The screen is very small. Also, notice the prominence of the exit sign.

They only show films on the weekend, but they usually show a good variety over a three day period. You can pick up a paper schedule or check the schedule online. There is paid parking in a garage close by or you could look for street parking. If you love old movies this is the place for you. Another plus is the theatre is close to Little Italy. You can pick up a cannoli before or after the show. This is always a bonus for us. My only complaint is I wish The Cinematheque was located closer to my home. It is a great venue!

I love the art of film, and attending films here is one of my favorite things to do in Cleveland. From documentaries, to classic films, to new films or world cinema, they do it all. However, COVID has changed the world of film. Like so many of my favorite film spots, the Cinematheque has transitioned to a virtual screening room...and I love it. They are doing a beautiful job still curating excellent films available for home viewing. With such limited new films coming out, this is important! They are keeping the art of film alive! Please donate to the Cinematheque if you can or rent a film from their virtual screening room. So what's next in my queue? They have an awesome documentary on Cleveland's own Agnes Gund, which I'm renting this weekend! Support local!

Located on Lee and actually seems to share a building with the public library. Got student tickets to Land of Oz for a show on a Friday. I bought them in person and the lady at the counter was super helpful and let me know about affordable ways to see a show like the "pay what you can" prices an hour before the show- which I definitely recommend for any weekday showings. You can also volunteer as an usher and see the show for free. Basically all seats offer a really good view because it is a smaller theater. But wow!!!! So much talent in one show. The actors were all amazing singers and dancers. It was pretty hilarious too. Very cool and creative set and costume design. My expectations were not the highest- I was a little unsure of seeing a show in a cleveland suburb, but I was absolutely blown away. They also serve reasonably prices drinks at the bar and even had a few special cocktails based on the theme of the show which was cute.

It's actually in the same building as the town's library and only has 5 rows, so all seats offer a good view. The play we saw was wonderful, living up to the expectations of an Obie Award winner. Tickets are inexpensive, and the shows only play for about a month each. I think most of those in attendance have been longtime membership holders and go often. It's time that the theater reach other demographics, and I would strongly recommend going based on my experience! Bonus: you get 10% off your bill at the wine bar Taste across the street with a same day ticket, but the discount does not apply to happy hour.

It's a super cool shape and all glass on the outside. Near it is another giant piece of public art, a big hand. Unfortunately, it really was unimpressive. I'm not a modern art person, but I've seen much better than this. The top of the stairs led to a bizarrely pointless overlook of very little of the interior. The most artsy exhibit had some abstract paintings that looked kind of cool but didn't photograph well. Another floor felt like it was basically a dare to dislike the art, with text framing the artist's identity as if this was very important, but the actual exhibit being childishly unoriginal and aesthetically bankrupt. Maybe future exhibits will be better, but the other reviewers don't give me a ton of confidence about whoever's making creative decisions here. The view of the neighborhood was nice, but I found that I spent barely half an hour trying really hard to get something out of the museum before giving up, and it really wasn't worth the time or money that I spent on it. And it was free!
