Love my new glasses that Cedar Rapids Eye staff helped saved me a ton of money by working with the manufacturer insisting that warranty cover the cost of new frames (not an easy ordeal!). Love it! They have the machine that blows a puff of air in your eye, so they don't have to use the yellow drops. Their office is super nice too with TVs in every exam room while you wait for the doctor to come in, not that you'll be waiting long. I've always been in and out pretty quick. First, I would like to say that Dr. Heying and Coach Susie were excellent. Dr. Heying was very knowledgable and patient to answer all of our questions about our son's eye condition. Coach Susie did a wonderful job in our weekly eye therapy appointments. My complaint is with the rest of the staff. The front desk staff is incredibly rude. During our weekly eye therapy appointments, the check in staff was short with us, barely made eye contact, and would talk down to us if we had a question. We paid in full up front for therapy in order to receive the discount (insurance did not cover) and at the halfway point when my son had made improvements and it was possible to resubmit to insurance to check coverage, we were told that since we had already paid and received the discount, they would not be able to submit anything to insurance. They provide a discount "so they don't have to go through the hassle of insurance paperwork". This was never stated up front. I would think that a business who received up front payment would be more likely to work with someone, not less. Lastly, when we had completed our final appointment, we were told upon checking out that we might have a $60 balance from that appointment. We were told not to pay that day so they could check with insurance. We heard nothing about it until two weeks later when we received a past due notice in the mail. We promptly paid the balance and within a week had received a final notice and were about to be sent to collections! Terrible business practice. In summary, I couldn't have been happier with Dr. Kara and Susie but the rest of the staff and office procedures leave a lot to be desired. If I had another option for eye therapy in Cedar Rapids, I would definitely choose it. read more

Have been using them for a little over a year now. They have been very easy to work with and responsive when I have had a couple of eye infections and needed help right away. Had issues with my new glasses at first(extremely strong prescription). They spent the time with me to adjust them and make adjustments on them so that I could wear them and not get headaches from them. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. read more

Horrible service! After going there to get a check up and glasses they refused to give me my prescription to go elsewhere for glasses. So I call the day the guy told me to call because my glasses were supposed to be there before that day and both times I called, no one could find the glasses. Then they call me a few minutes before 5 saying the glasses where there. I work night shift and need them for work and they went out of there way to make sure I didnt have them. My husband is getting glasses from them as well and he is canceling that order to go somewhere else. Absolutely horrible service! read more

My daughter had been going to the Iowa Eye Center on 1st Avenue in Cedar Rapids for about 4 years. She has esotropia amblyopia. The Iowa Eye center had her patching her eye. That was it. She was falling behind in school, getting frustrated, and having great difficulty learning to read . Her teacher recommended the Cedar Rapids Eye Center. We went there, and after 6 months of vision therapy, her teacher said my daughter is reading at grade level. The cedar Rapids Eye Center does so much more testing and their therapists have lots of exercises to help improve/correct vision. I would recommend them over the Iowa Eye Center any day. The staff is friendly and professional. They have really helped my daughter. read more

I went into this establishment with the intention to purchase a new pair of frames, and I was met with a sigh and total disregard. They could've cared less that i was there. I've never experienced this before. Purchasing a pair of glasses is an expensive endeavor, that I have spent weeks saving for and researching the right designer and fit for me. I was immediately turned off by the attitude that the sales staff had when i asked to browse their selection of frames.
