When my parents invited me up here, I had visions of tiny cabins spread out among trees and a tiny dirt path to try to stay on, no lights at night, and a dock that requires a treacherous walk from the cabin. Not here! Our cabin was directly across a paved (PAVED!) street from our dock, therefore allowing a good minute from cabin to lake. It would be fair to say that within 3 minutes, one could leave their cabin, be in their boat, get situated, and be off. The cabin had a wall unit for A/C, but in the winter, there are heated units for those that want to ice/fish. The owners are really nice, and everyone staying there seemed to be having a lot of fun. The fish house also is easily the cleanest I've ever been in, though the knives are super dull so definitely you need your own.

Free donuts, juice, and coffee by the lake your first morning there. A fun "holey-board" tourney is a highlight. The only complaints about this place I have ever heard are by entitled folks who don't believe in parking boat trailers in the provided parking area and are otherwise rude rule-breakers in general! Rules are there to protect both the owner and you. The owners are NOT sticklers and will work with you. We rented a window A/C and they didn't charge us because it ended up being a cool week and we only ran it a couple days. The grounds are well-maintained. The driveway and area around the office are paved, so my granddaughter had a blast riding her scooter. Cabins are quite nice, spacious, and comfortable with nice kitchens... no slackers here. Newer cabins are VERY nice, and some have central air. Volleyball, playground, and a very large lawn for games. They have boats available, including pontoons. There are several docks and a swimming beach with lots of water toys. The lake isn't really big, so that means you don't wake up in the morning to jet-skis! Very quiet place, and they even have nesting bald eagles. Very close to Nevis and a nice drive to Park Rapids for shopping or to Walker for shopping and the casino. This is infinitely better than our previous resort home, both in ownership and in overall amenities.

No where on the website states that it is a resort or reservation policy that guests need to remain on the property and should not leave the resort to enjoy time with nearby family. While I find this policy to be presumptive and strange in general, I am more disappointed that the policy is not communicated upfront so that I did not have to waste time and energy with a reservation that would never have been accepted for the mere fact that I have family within the city of Nevis.

She maintains the resort incredibly well and Pine Beach wouldn't be the same without her! I cannot say enough good things about this place. It is truly the most relaxing, fun filled vacation and we look forward to it every year! We have been coming here since my three girls were young and Pine Beach is definitely the place to come for families! They offer daily activities for kids, from sand castle building and fishing contests to feeding animals and learning how to water-ski! In between planned activities the Resort is surrounded by beautiful walking trails, water equipment like kayaks, paddle boats and paddle boards for anyone to use, and is located right on lake Belle Taine. The lake is so clean and beautiful, perfect for boating, fishing and swimming! We barely saw our kids during the day other then meal times- they kept themselves so busy with everything offered at Pine Beach! Now that our kids are older they still enjoy coming here and relaxing on the beach, exploring the shops in nearby Nevis and Park Rapids and spending time out on the lake! Definitely a missed opportunity to make up for the poor overall service. The bread was the highlight of the night, which is very telling given it was standard crostini bread. That said, it was warm, fresh, and served with delicious butter. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal didn't live up to that start. The food took far, far, far too long to come out and when it finally did, it didn't all arrive together. Half the table started eating while the other half just sat and watched and continued to wait for their food to come. I thought they brought it out separately to serve things hot, but the food that was first brought out was only lukewarm. I got the steak sandwich, which was fine but pretty bland. Even the sauce couldn't save it... The fries were well-seasoned but soft and floppy, which just made them feel sad and unappealing. I had an espresso martini with dinner and it was basically a chocolate drink with no real espresso flavor. Overall, the setting was fine, but slow service, uneven timing, and subpar food made this a disappointing experience.

He accidentally spilled drinks on two of the people at my table (didn't offer to comp the drinks), and ran out half of the food for our table-- went to help a different table-- then ran out the rest of our food after a good 10 minutes. If we had had a different server, I think it would have been a totally different experience. Our friend who has been here many times said she has never had any kind of experience like this before.
