I had taken my cat Mavis here since she was a kitten, she is now 2 years old. Everything was well until she started having allergies and was prescribed atopica. We gave the medication to Mavis orally with a syringe. The night we gave Mavis the medicine she threw up. Since then she had stopped eating, became lethargic, and developed a wheeze. I took her to Cedar Vet Clinic last Monday and told them about the symptoms, I specifically asked how her lungs sounded. Dr. Johnson said her lungs sounded fine, her temp was fine, decided to give her a shot to settle her stomach, and gave us an appetite stimulant. I started giving my cat the appetite stimulant right away and by Wednesday noticed she was not eating at all and decided to call the vet once more. They told me it needed to be applied for a couple of days and to just wait. On Thursday I noticed my cat was getting increasingly worse and called a different vet in Cedar City, they told me it is not normal for a cat to not eat for a couple of days (shocker) and had an opening for me to come in that day. I took Mavis in and the new vet immediately noticed something was wrong with her, she had a fever and was very lethargic. He pushed to do an x ray on her and her lungs were filled with fluid, you could not even see her heart. She had aspirated the night we gave her the atopica and had to be put into critical care. She is now in a breathing chamber with a feeding tube and may not make it. I do not blame Cedar Vet Clinic for prescribing the medication or for my cat aspirating, but I do blame them for ignoring all of my concerns and not taking extra measures to understand the root cause of my cats symptoms. All they ever did was try to treat her symptoms and not push to do anything more. I am deeply angry at Dr. Johnson and I do blame her if my cat dies. Please advocate for your pets and get a second opinion if something doesn't seem right at the vet!!!! It could save their lives. I hope it is not too late for Mavis and I hope I can save another pets life from the lack of care and thoroughness at this vet. read more

I truly don't know where to begin with this review but I'm going to start off by saying all the staff at Cedar Veterinary Clinic & Dr. Heather Johnson are absolutely amazing!! I first found this vet's office at the end of April 2023 after a rough visit with Color Country Animal Hospital, for the record I'm not speaking badly on Color Country Animal Hospital but I just knew this wasn't the office where I wanted my sweet 13 year old boy Thor to be seen. I then looked up other veterinary clinics in town and Cedar Veterinary Clinic was the first on my list to call, they were able to make me a appointment almost immediately to have Thor be seen and they also contacted Color Country for me and had Thor's recent examination papers transferred over to their office. Upon arriving for our appointment we didn't have to wait long at all to be seen and from check in to us checking out everything was easy and perfect. The receptionist was friendly and welcomed us in with a very warm bubbly vibe, the nurse was great she was extra gentle with my Thor. Then we met Dr. Johnson, she was amazing. She was so gentle to my boy, she was so caring and personable and I knew right there this was going to be our vet's office. You could tell this truly is her passion and calling in life, Thor looked at her and was completely trusting of her and he knew he was in good hands. Thor had 2 tumors on his wiener and needed to have surgery as soon as he could, not only did I feel confident in the team at Cedar Veterinary Clinic but they were extremely affordable as well and for me being on a social security low income household that was huge.. They were able to squeeze Thor in for surgery just about a week and a half after our first initial visit. They went above and beyond for my Thor, I knew Dr. Johnson was taking care of him like he was hers. Surgery went well and they helped me every step of the way afterwards. Sadly just about 5 weeks after Thor's surgery he had his first seizure, this truly was one of the scariest things I've ever experienced. I immediately called the vet's office and we discussed what I should do, look for etc... Unfortunately my sweet boy had a few more and I knew I couldn't let him go out in life in sheer panic and fear so I called Dr. Johnson and left a message on Saturday. That following Monday she made us a emergency appointment and was able to get us in that afternoon. She sat on the floor with us and helped my sweet Thor cross the rainbow bridge pain free and peacefully. I'm so very grateful for her helping us in that difficult moment, I had Thor's unconditional love for 13 years since he was 5 weeks old. I have no words for the level of compassion, care, treatments and help that we received from Dr. Johnson and her staff. I highly recommend her clinic for any possible need or concern you may have with your pets. Since then my husband and I have adopted a 7 1/2 year old XL Bully from Iron County Animal Shelter and we've taken him to Cedar Veterinary Clinic to get a clean bill of health and for all updated vaccinations. I know my boy Bear is in excellent hands with Dr. Johnson and her staff!! Updating my review as its been a few years and staff and Doc have changed. Possibly all new management, I think this has all been in the last 2 or 3 years, and its definitely for the better! Theyve done a lot of renovations inside, the rooms and front office area are really nice now. There's new staff and theyve all been amazing and friendly and always helpful and caring. You can tell they all love your pets and care for them as best they can. Dr Heather is very kind and caring and great at explaining everything. My kitty was getting old and they were always giving her fantastic care even til the end. Reasonable prices and easy to get an appointment you need. Highly recommend! read more

We recently moved to Utah with an old dog. Sadly, she was beginning to suffer, and we had to put her to sleep. The people at Cedar Veterinary Clinic were just the best. They were sympathetic and kind. In the room where this was done, the veterinarian shed a tear while administering the drug. I was really touched. Clearly, I wasn't going to be a long-term client, but it didn't matter. She just understood what I was going through. A few days later, we got a sympathy card from them. It made us feel so good. This office has become an absolute disgrace from what it was with Dr Thinnes. My brother took his dog here yesterday for emergency care. They were never told this office didn't do emergency care as stated in their previous responses on their reviews. Their dog was vomiting blood and when they got to the vet they were told if they had shopping to do go ahead and do it and the office would call with updates... it was 2+ hours before they heard anything. They were told he had bleeding ulcers from bad dog food, they gave some prescriptions and sent the dog home. They told them to give the dog water and a restricted diet for a week and he would be fine. The vet never expressed concern that the dog would have any other issues. This dog didn't make it through the night. Pure negligence cost this dog his life. When they tried calling the vet the next morning to let them know the dog passed they were told IF she had time she could look into it and call them back. The receptionist offered for my brother to bring the dog back to do an autopsy BUT IT WOULD COST MORE. They did not hear back from her. No surprise. read more

Cedar Vet isn't the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. Dr. Thinnes has been fantastic with all three of my animals be it just bringing them in for vaccines or for an actual medical issue. He's always exceptionally thorough, his staff is knowledgeable and helpful and each time I leave, I feel well informed about whatever issue I brought an animal in for and know that my pet has received great care and there won't need to have a follow up visit for the same issues unless I've been informed that it might be needed as can sometimes be the case with my diabetic dog. It's this dog in particular that will keep me going back to Dr Thinnes because of how thorough and knowledgeable he has been with helping me treat my Chloe and make sure she is healthy and in as optimal a shape as we can keep her. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this clinic! I brought my cat in, for the first time, after having a horrible experience at the groomers. They were amazing! The staff calmed all my fears, informed me that he was NOT infested with flees, as the groomer stated and finished grooming him so he looked decent. In a world where there tends to be little customer service this clinic has it down. After only 4 days of leaving I've referred two people! That's how strongly I recommend them!! read more

After having my cat spayed by a different clinic in town her sutures rejected and the first vet told us we weren't keeping it clean. We decided to check with this vet and they said that the first vet was wrong. They fixed the sutures and she healed shortly after. read more

This place tried to charge me 30 dollars for a month's worth of prescription pills for one of my dogs. Every other vet I've ever taken her to charged me 9 dollars for the same exact prescription. When I inquired about it, the guy at the counter told me some drivel about buying in bulk, and the so-called "scarcity" of the medicine (Thyroxine - very popular medication for thyroid issues). Lied through his teeth to me. I also inquired about getting some diazepam (Valium) for her because she has severe storm phobia. The doctor told me that the government has banned vets from prescribing this medication and tried to sell me some sort of holistic drops for 30 dollars (which can be had from Amazon for 5.99). This was another blatant lie. I took my dog to Mountain View Animal Clinic and got the thyroid meds for 11 dollars for TWO months worth, and also a small quantity of the Valium for her distress during the heavy summer storms we have here. He told me there was no such "ban" on this drug by the government. Another blatant lie by Cedar Vet Clinic. I can stand a lot of things, but I simply cannot stand a liar and will not patronize any place who treats me so disrespectful. read more

I got my puppy Bug-Z last October at 8 weeks old and there is no vet in my small Nevada town, but it seemed like everyone in town with a pet went to Cedar Veterinary Clinic, over 100 miles away in Cedar City, Utah. The few I asked basically insisted I take Bug there, which I did. I couldn't have been happier. The moment I walked through the door I felt good and so did the Bug. Dr. Thinnes, Anna and Jared are pros that know their job, which instantly instilled the confidence in me that I was looking for. They truly seem to love their jobs and the pets they take care of. I travel quite extensively and have boarded Bug-Z with them every time and have never regretted doing so. Dr. Thinnes has even picked up and answered my after-hours neurotic weekend calls. The Bug and I have become very close and we both recommend Cedar Veterinary as the place to take your pet for all of his or her needs. read more
