I lean towards non-denominational and churches that are kinda laid back on dress attire and have all ages attending. The Rock was very welcoming and has an awesome worship service. All attend worship service then the children are dismissed to children's church. My son enjoyed it. The preaching was good. They also sang part of one song in Spanish so that was cool. I did wear a dress and heels but you would be welcome here in jeans and t-shirts. Very casual. Main thing, these people are Jesus loving!

IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE. The worship team sounded Great. The Preacher delivered a bible centered message, that was hopeful and inspiring. I felt as if the message was tailored to my life. She is a member of the church and helps with the food pantry. I have noticed that she behaves prejudicely towards black people at times. One time, I was going to get a water bottle from the kitchen but Cathy said that I can't have any. So, I just walked away. Then, someone walks through the doors and Cathy offers HIM something to drink. Keep in mind that he's white. I wouldn't have taken it too seriously if one of my friends hadn't told me that the exact same thing happened to them. I thought this church was past all the prejudice acts, but I was totally wrong. Another time was when I asked Mrs. Daniels, the secretary, if I could get a popsicle from the freezer and she said that it was fine. So, I went in the kitchen to go get one and Cathy showed up. I just thought she was doing her own thing so I just grabbed the popsicle. She stopped me and said, "Hey, you can't take one from here." I said, "Mrs. Daniels said I could. You can ask her if you-" She interrupts me and says, "I don't believe you." I was trying to convince her but I knew I couldn't say anything to change her mind, so I just walked away.

They are non-denominational and Biblically based, concentrating on college students (our church is one block away from campus) but also open to all, including families. The people are warm and caring. As you look at a worship service we are very diverse. You will see African Americans, Americans, Chinese, Koreans, Hatians, Latinos, Whites, students, middle agers and olders. Good music, good prayer, good messages.

When I was considering converting, this was the first place I came. The community involvement is tremendous. There is a sisters halaqa class with Sister Fadia that seriously changed my life, and the Shieyk here was willing to help me and a large group learn Arabic in order to better our knowledge of Islam, mashaAllah. I am so proud to say that I took my shahada at this mosque over three years ago and I talk about how wonderful it is on a regular basis, even though I'm not living in Los Angeles. This place is amazing and there is something about it that makes me feel like I am home every time I visit. I miss the taraweeh here. I miss the design of the carpet. I miss the community. InshaAllah Allah rewards all of you for how beautiful this place is in both spirit and appearance. If you are thinking of converting and Yelped to find somewhere to come to, this is THE PLACE!
