The student life here is very diverse and fosters academic and intellectual growth while being in a fun and friendly environment. The sports teams aren't the greatest, but they do offer physical activity, fun, and the opportunity to gain experience in teamwork and leadership. I would just be wary about joining the badminton team. Years ago, I was a victim of racial prejudice by the coach, who is still there today. Generally he does not let you "make the team" if you are obviously of Latin American or Mexican American descent. I had made the team based on my Asian looks, but I am a certain percentage Latin American, and when he found out, he told me that I was unfit to play because of it. He then resigned in fear that I would report him but came back to coach after I had graduated. Also, be careful if you're a young Asian girl on the team. He is a flirtatious guy with a reputation for getting too close to the girls and picking the varsity team based on cuteness [girls only] and not actual talent or skill. Mothers and fathers beware. This guy is out for your babies. Other than that, great school! I miss it dearly, but I know it is somewhere that I hope to send my children to in the future. The staff here teaches great moral values, tolerance, and the academics are up to par so as to prepare you for college.

Either way, 5th period PE always sucked because it was consistently hot as balls by the time we got out there. And I had 5th period both years ... I mean who likes to go through puberty so early? But once upon a rainy 5th period PE, my teacher selected me, Sadeer and Diahnna to go out and collect the soccer cones off the field. As good little robots, we agreed. The rest of the class remained inside a classroom on the other side of campus. It was cold and we were drenched ... AND we all had to go pee. We waited outside the locker room and then looked at each other. Sadeer: Who has the key? Diahnna: I don't. Me: I don't either. Sadeer: Sh*t, we have to go get it. Who wants to go? Me: I don't know but hurry up! I've got to go pee. Diahnna: So do I. Sadeer: Shhhhhhh .... hahaha. Ok, ok shhhhh .... Me: SHUT UP SADEER! GO GET THE KEY. Sadeer: Ok, ok. I'll go get it. (5 minutes later after being in the rain and getting COMPLETELY wet.) Sadeer: Ok, I've got the key. Shhhhhh ... hahaha. Shhhhhh .... Diahnna & Me (jumping up and down to hold it in): Hurry up!! We got to pee! Sadeer: Well, geez. So do I! Just relax. Shhhhh .... hahahaha. Don't go pee in your pants now ... Me thinking to myself as Sadeer unlocks the door: Sh*t. Too Late. So the other girls flee to the bathroom and I just stroll because guess what? ... no more urgency. After that incident, I wrapped my jacket around my pants and inconspicuously walk to the classroom where we joined the rest of the PE(e) class. All I could think was for once, THANK GOD IT'S 5TH PERIOD. One more class to go. After I got up from my 5th period seat ... I remember thinking "wow! I didn't know wooden seats soaked up that pee smell so well." But guess what? Any kind of embarrassment went away after I got home ... only because my mom knew how to express the exact words of comfort. Me: Mommy ... I peed in my pants today. Mommy: That's ok ... everyone does it.

Wilson High, Los Altos sure has everything better. In response the to comment below about the staff and faculty not being dedicated: Not sure what really went on about your situation but I can name several times where I've experienced the grace of teachers and students alike. I can proudly say I have not teachers but mentors at this school that changed the way I thought about education, higher education and overall a sense of purpose in life. Sounds philosophical but not many public schools can have a history and tradition like Los Altos. The recent API score gained 36 points which is a MAJOR improvement. Give or take, SOMETHING must be right at Los Altos High School. I'm sorry that you didn't have a good experience at LAHS. I hope you forgive those that wronged you and continue to aim for your goals! :)

You can die, so don't come. Anyhow, this has been one of the best tracks I've had the pleasure of jogging in. Beautifully maintained and never over populated with those things called people. The surrounding scenery is calming. A bit of a scenic feel, but not far from home. Open M-F 6ish AM to 7ish PM. Luckily if I decide to come or leave before what is considered permitted hours...I can sneak in through an area that I refuse to disclose. If you find yourself in need of a good jog, look elsewhere, please. (Hacienda hiking trail is walking distance) Thanks XOXO B

I was pretty upset since I went with autopay to avoid her receiving an alternate lunch last year. I went to myschoolbucks to find out what happened. I added $35 to the already $10 i already had. Today i went to school and find out why was her food taken away, they stated they have a new system but that they werent giving alternate lunches. I went and asked my daughter again and in presence of her teacher once again she stated that the lunch ladies not the students were taking her lunch away. She stated that her peanut butter and jelly was taken away only to eat corn and juice!! This is BS!! I went on autopay to avoid this.... how can someone have the heart to take a childs lunch away. I also dont understand how they can tell the student they owe money when in all honesty can be embarrassing for the student in front of their friends. Even worse when they have funds. Apparently students are not to be told that they owe money according to the district, but guess what it is, thats how I found out!! This is BS and breaks my heart that my daughter is going through this... come on corn and juice!! My daughter was almost in tears when the teacher and i asked her about what she eats during lunch!! This is unacceptable and should be addressed immediately!! I'm still to receive a call from Emmalyn Coles regarding this, i called twice second time leaving a voicemail. After to scholl personnel this isn't the first incident, parents need to ask their children it is happening often and ita NOT RIGHT!! I expect a formal apology for My daughter and I. It just brings to tears just to imagine food out if my daughtera plate and leaving her to eat corn and juice!! What if it was your daughter????

My experience at this school has been honestly frustrating and disappointing. The environment feels…read moremore stressful than supportive, and it often seems like students are expected to just deal with problems instead of actually getting help. One of the biggest issues is how disorganized everything is. Important information is either given last minute or not clearly explained at all, which makes it harder to stay on top of assignments and expectations. It feels like students are blamed for things that aren't fully communicated in the first place. The teaching quality is also really inconsistent. Some teachers care and try, but others seem uninterested or don't explain things well, leaving students confused and stuck teaching themselves. When you ask for help, it can feel like you're just brushed off instead of actually supported. The rules can also feel unfair or overly strict, especially when they're enforced differently depending on the student. It creates a sense that things aren't equal, which makes it harder to feel respected or motivated. Overall, this school doesn't feel like a place that prioritizes student success or well-being. Instead of helping students grow, it often just adds stress and frustration to an already difficult experience.

This school has a running track, stretching areas, tennis courts, handball courts, basketball courts, baseball and soccer fields that are open to the public depending on whether it is being used by the school itself or any other local community organization. Yup, there a couple of porta-potties here too. It's a dirt track, so use some running shoes that you wouldn't mind getting dirty. The aesthetics doesn't compare to Sierra Vista High School's more recently renovated track, but it gets the job done if you're looking for a place to walk/jog. You can also run the sidewalk circumference of the school which happens to be the conveniently measured distance of 1 mile which can be used whether school is in session or not. Here's a quick 3D video look of it. http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/30591254#video Pickup basketball seems to happen on nights/weekends whenever the kids bball leagues aren't going on. This is a nice free community area to get out and be active.

There is one teacher who really appears to bond just a little better than the other. Not sure what his name is but as the kids where walking up to get their promotional certificates for graduation yesterday 6/4/25 he did special gestures with each and everyone of his students which was a treat to watch. Thank you to that awesome teacher! My biggest complaint was that the promotion was exceptionally long! I attended a college graduation and a HS graduation both within these last 3 weeks and this 8 grade promotion by far was the longest! Maybe if the principal hadn't gone on and on and talked so much it would have made it much shorter and more enjoyable. The video at the end was absolutely great and as each one signed off made it even more special. This is the second promotion I have attended for this school. Maybe next year make it more about the kids and not the principal and shorten it. Congratulations to class of 2025! Go little sharks and become big sharks!

My daughter attended this preschool for one year in the preschool program. Her classroom teacher…read morewas wonderful, caring, and one of the few positives about our experience. Unfortunately, our overall impression of the school and several other staff members was disappointing. One experience that really stood out involved a teacher named Esther, who teaches the 4-5-year-old class. While she may appear friendly at first, our experience with her was very different. One morning, my wife was holding the security gate open for an elderly grandfather who was walking into the preschool. Instead of appreciating the situation, Esther immediately yelled at my wife to close the gate and began lecturing her. Even after my wife explained that she was simply helping an elderly person enter safely, Esther continued to scold her and insisted that the grandfather could open the gate himself. We found her response unnecessarily harsh and lacking basic compassion and professionalism. Another concern was the school's annual Jogathon fundraiser. Families are encouraged to donate money, and children who participate receive a special T-shirt. Staff members then visit the classrooms to celebrate with those children by handing out small toys and snacks. We chose not to participate because we already pay significant tuition and did not feel obligated to make an additional donation. Later, the school sent parents a video of the celebration. Watching it was heartbreaking. My daughter was one of the children without the fundraiser shirt, and she was left standing in the back while the other children celebrated together. She was essentially separated from the group because we didn't donate. Regardless of the purpose of the fundraiser, I don't believe young children should ever be singled out or excluded based on whether their parents contribute financially. The children have no control over those decisions, and schools should make every effort to ensure all students feel included. I'm glad we ultimately decided to move our daughter to another school. While we appreciated her classroom teacher, our overall experience left us disappointed, and I would not recommend this preschool based on what our family experienced.
