My son has been at Celebration Kids for 3 years. Because they are open year-round, that's a total of about 1,000 days of amazing care, teaching, and community. Our daughter is in her third year at Celebration Kids, and we're incredibly grateful to all of the teachers and staff at CK for providing a warm, safe, playful, and enriching environment for her to grow. We just transferred both of our kids here in August. Their previous school was solid: safe, clean, reliable. The building was brand new and the play area was beautiful. When we first visited CK, I have to admit it looked a little rough around the edges at first. Within an hour, our kids didn't want to leave. On the way back to his other school (it was the middle of a school day), our son asked why we were going back. That sold us. Our experience here has been fantastic. Our son seemed to be struggling with finding a place and a voice at his old school and we've seen him make amazing strides here very quickly. The TK program has done so much for him and we're watching him develop new skills so quickly, we can't keep up. Because of his birthdate, we're going to keep him in TK one more year here even though he could switch to a free program and save us a lot of money. The experiences they're having at CK are worth every penny (which is actually more affordable than their last school). We love the teachers and community here and highly recommend it. read more

i wouldnt trust them watching my child! i called to find out about getting my son in. i asked a couple of questions to do my diligence and the woman was so rude. she said just come in if you have so many questions. lucky i was in the area the next day so i came in. kids were just running around and not being paid attention. i asked the same questions and the lady rolled her eyes at me as she went to the desk. while i waited for the cranky lady to come back i looked at there website and found the prices. it was expensive and overpriced so i left and the lady didnt even say bye or thank you. glad i didnt sign up. i luckily found another better one 5 minutes away. read more

I feel so lucky that we got our daycare right from the beginning. Celebration Kids has taken us through the formative early years of both our boys and when my baby is ready, she will be there as well. We've been there long enough to have experienced several classrooms, teachers and seasons and I've always felt entirely secure with my children being there. The director, Sara is always impressing us with her ability to do what's right in hard times too. After the recent fires she worked to get extra youngsters who were affected into the school. The community is special too. I swear I can close my eyes and talk to any of the parents at a school function or birthday party and have a great chat. Today was the end of an amazing 7 year journey with Sarah and the Celebration Kids family. CK basically raised our three kids, and today was our daughter's last day. We knew this day would come, but saying goodbye for the last time hits hard, NGL. Lots of tears. There are no words to describe our gratitude to the CK community. Our kids were not just cared for, they were loved and made to feel like important members of an incredible community of caregivers, teachers, parents and kids. We will be so sad when our son is done attending CK. This school is truly a gem and we have met so many wonderful people in our time there. The teachers are so attentive and loving to the kids. There is also very little turnover which was a big difference from the daycare we were at before. The teachers are clearly happy and treated well. Some have been there for many years, and we've had no teacher changes in our time there. I like to describe CK as "good old fashioned fun." Everything feels centered around play and exploring. It may not look as fancy as some other trendy schools in the area, but don't let that fool you. The kids are happy and have so much fun, and the teachers are exceptional. They also offer a paid opt-in science program that my son LOVES and looks forward to every week. Sara, the owner and director always makes herself available for parents. She's a wealth of knowledge and has been a huge support whenever we need guidance or advice. We will truly be so sad when our time is done at this school. Jumping back in here to say that we chose to stay in the PreK program (instead of doing any of the UTKs offered). It was worth it for us as parents to work our same work hours at least one more year, especially since we already knew and LOVED the teachers taking care of our little guy. Admittedly, it's a privilege to have been able to make this choice. That stated, very glad we did because our son is continuing to build relationships and we're able to stay with the parents we've enjoyed so much these past 3 years. Sara (the owner) has given us excellent Kindergarten advice, and my kid comes back almost every day with the report, "Today was just great. Really great." He loves his teachers and I've never heard him make an even remotely negative comment about any of the staff at CK. They have transitioned into some Spanish and letters work (in addition to the weekly music and science classes), and I've appreciated the appropriate pace of learning. Last thing I'll say is that they've done so much to hire local artists to cover all the walls with the loveliest murals. My son has been attending Celebration Kids since 2022 and we are so happy and grateful to have found a community of loving, supportive and nurturing faculty. Waldorf-inspired in philosophy, CK is all about learning through play and focuses on child-centered emotional learning. Every single teacher to at this school is so freaking patient and thorough in how they address students' feelings and conflicts. Last year when we were considering sending our son to LAUSD for TK we ultimately decided that staying at CK was the best possible option for him. Sure, it is more money than UTK (though aftercare through LAUSD is not free either!) but there is something to be said for your kids being in an environment they are familiar with, with people that truly know their little being, AND to be the oldest kiddos on campus modeling for the youngins vs the tiniest students in a school that goes up to pre-pubescent. NO REGRETS. If we are lucky enough to have a second baby, they will be a CK grad too PS - I would be remiss to not point out that there are some very shiny, trendy schools in this area and this one may appear to be more "normal" but its really about the care and the care is exceptional read more

We love CK. Our son did a year at Eagle Rock Montessori and then we moved him to CK when he was three. Teacher Anthony and Teacher Monica are amazing and you can tell how much the staff genuinely care about the kids. Sara is a great resource since she's been at it for so long! We decided to keep our son there for PreK even though he was eligible to move to TK at the public schools and we're so happy we did. He's been learning so much this year and we can see that he's gained a lot of confidence. They also have less days off than the public school which is helpful since we don't have much childcare support. They do a rotation now with the different PreK classrooms so the kids get to mix so it doesn't feel as clique-y. This review is long overdue. To Sara and all of the teachers-- THANK YOU! I cannot even begin to tell you how wonderful Celebration Kids is. If you're looking for a preschool for your kid(s), do yourself a favor and get on the waitlist now. Sara is the amazing director of the school. She is so knowledgable on childhood development and just speaks the kid language. She understands them at a deeper level than most people, and I just appreciated that so much as a parent sending my children there. We were on and off at CK through the pandemic, but she and her teachers handled everything with such understanding, grace, really holding the children and their safety at the forefront of all decision making. The only reason we left is because we moved. I am still in the loop with my son's pre-k class teachers. They even sent us an insta message for his birthday with the kids singing happy birthday to him after we moved. The teachers themselves care about the kids at an epic level. My son is sensitive and shy and Teacher Monica and Teacher Dennis were just so kind and knew how to help him out of his shell-- they are the best! I wholeheartedly regret sending my son to this school. My son gashed his cheek open while sliding down a slide on the metal play structure to land in a pool of water. He was not wearing the water shoes the school "required" during summer play. He ran up the stairs with wet feet, slipped, and hit his face on the stairs. When I picked him up to take him to the ER the teachers could not tell me what happened because no one witnessed the accident. Essentially, I felt the owners' responses to my concerns to be dismissive in the name of "children will be children and accidents happen." I'm fully aware accidents happen as I've taken my son to the ER a couple of times already, but in my opinion this is an accident that could have been prevented by observance of common sense water safety guidelines like no running around water, no coupling of pools and metal structures, and mandating children to wear water shoes. My son required an hour of double stitches. We are advised by his plastic surgeon to apply scar cream three times a day and cover his face for a year with a bandage to prevent darkening of the scar across his cheek. This could have been so easily prevented with common sense. read more

Such a wonderful preschool! We've been part of the Celebration Kids family for the last six years with our two very different children. We knew that our children were in good hands with the early morning drop off when they were greeted with hugs and smiles every day! The staff is down to earth and so responsive to the needs of the kids. They offer a good balance of play and structure throughout the day for all age groups. The directors do a good job of partnering the teachers in each room for the different age groups. All their teachers have been caring, attentive, and creative. As a teacher myself, I've even used some of the teachers' ideas in my classroom! They also have a great art program, music classes, and even an extra science class. After so many years, it's bittersweet to leave CK, but I know my children have benefited from their experiences there and are ready for the next stage... Kindergarten and beyond! read more

In these 3 (pandemic) years as a CK family, I never once felt unsure about my daughter's physical, intellectual or emotional wellbeing at school, and that is a profound testament. She entered kindergarten this fall ready on all fronts -- yes academically, but more significantly with confidence and courage and well equipped to advocate for herself, and I largely credit her experience at Celebration Kids for this. Our daughter just graduated - after being here for the full duration - and is happy, has a huge group of friends, is confident, and fully prepared for Kindergarten. We see CK as a throwback. If you're looking for some pristine, helicopter/silverlake style, Instagram daycare with sugar free menus and precious parents you maaaaay want to look elsewhere. Here you will find bunnies, peeling paint, a brand new playground, and hugely dedicated personalities with nearly as much love for your kiddo as you have. Sara, Captain of the helm, is a lighthouse. She led us and everyone through covid with transparency, candidness, and rock solid consistency. She has an open door and has never not been there for us. My kids attended this school a few years back and I regret not posting this sooner. This place is dirty and disorganized. When issues arise, the owners respond defensively and then publicly attack the parents who bring up the problem. Look through their responses to the negative reviews on here - it shows you exactly what I'm referring to. Their terrible communication skills and defensive responses when problems arise should concern any prospective parent. My child brought up an issue, we took it to the directors, and they made excuses and blamed us before even looking into it. They subsequently admittedly neglected my child and publicized the problem by sending out a school-wide email about us. One of the directors apologized later, but was unable to send out a public apology. Seeing former classmates and their parents around town (small town South Pasadena) still causes mild embarrassment, even years later. I have been an educator and mandated reporter for over 15 years. I know how parents and students should be treated, and this company does not. read more

We've been at CK for three years, starting with my oldest child who was there for two years, and now with my second child, who is finishing his second year there. I hope and expect to send my youngest there as well. We've had wonderful warm and loving teachers there, and the play-based atmosphere is exactly what I've always wanted for my kids. Words cannot capture the gratitude we feel for having Celebration Kids in our lives. Many of you reading this review can remember at least one preschool tour where the core curriculum hours looked nothing like the parents' work schedule and almost everything slated for the afternoons was dubbed "enrichment" and, therefore, cost quite a bit more on top of tuition. We found those preschools beautiful and lovely, but, somehow, not what we'd envisioned for our children. Enter CK. Is it a fancy preschool? No. Does it have some sleek and modern signature color scheme like slate and chartreuse? No. But is it a nurturing, loving, safe, happy and incredibly FUN place to bring your kids each day? Absolutely! The kids learn by playing, and I can never tell who is having more fun: my children and their classmates or the faithful contingent of exuberant and enthusiastic overgrown children disguised as teachers. In addition to the wonderful on-site programming, CK brings in outside instruction in music, movement, science and computing, all for no more than what I'd pay to take my child to a similar class during our precious weekend time (roughly $10-13 per weekly class). CK has a wonderful art curriculum, and Mr. Ben (a family therapist) comes each week to use puppets as a vehicle for working on social skills, problem solving and honing our little ones' emotional intelligence. Thanks to Mr. Ben, my children feel safe expressing their feelings and can now tell me when they feel nervous, uncomfortable or embarrassed, to name a few. The directors, Michele and Sara, do what excellent directors do best: they listen to their parents, they know the children enrolled in their program, they have high expectations for each and every teacher, they communicate well, and they are always finding a new way to make the program even more dynamic and interesting. The teachers put their all into the children and truly seem to enjoy teaching them each day. I cannot tell you how hard the teachers work and how much our children trust and adore their teachers. Our kids feel secure and have the space and support they need to make mistakes, to grow and to thrive. If you are a dual-income family, CK will work for you. They open at 7 and close at 6, and the price is the same per day whether your kids are there 11 hours or 3. They don't close for anything save the major holidays (Labor Day, Memorial Day) and are generous about being open around Christmas and the New Year. There is no spring break. And while one Friday in June is the last day of the school year, they open the next Monday in camp mode. In other words, you won't need to struggle with what to do with your children on off days because there aren't that many. We love that there are so many kinds of families at CK---from those with one parent devoted to raising the kids full-time to those with two income-earners; families with two Moms, two Dads or one of each; interracial families with biracial kids and families of many differing ethnicities, religions, and on and on. It is a rich and beautiful environment. The developmental/young kindergarten program absolutely rocks. It's an amazing place for kids who might not be quite ready for kindergarten to spend a transitional year. The kids in the program last year graduated so ready for the next step, and they had a very happy and productive year in the meantime. And don't get me started on the summer. It isn't possible to have more fun. From amazing field trips to daily water play and engaging on-site programs, it is astounding how much they do and how much fun they have. It makes it easier to go to work and to work hard all summer knowing that CK is showing my kids a great time! The school really builds community. There are parenting workshops, lots of celebrations and many other opportunities (like every afternoon on the playground) to get to know the teachers, other families and to foster the friendships among the kids and their parents. The name of this school says it all: they are all about celebrating kids. They want kids to feel celebrated each day just for being. And they want to cherish, savor and celebrate this special time in a young child's life, as it will form the foundation for a healthy, well-adjusted and happy future. How do I even begin to rate such an amazing place that took care of my daughters from 2 to 5. They were so much more than teachers and care givers...they became dear friends over the course of 5 years. My daughters graduated from CK as well balanced, smart, artistic, socially adept, beautiful children. They are now thriving and excelling in their elementary school at Monterey Hills in South Pasadena. Do shop around before you come here. It's NOT for everyone and their wait list is long. If you're a type A, helicopter parent who wants to control your child & his/her environment, this is not the school for you. We've been a Celebration Kids family for about 6 years, with two very different children attending the school since 2009. Ever since our first tour where we met the staff and saw how much fun the kids were all having (and how messy they were getting!), we knew CK was the place for us. The school stresses play-based learning but my children also learned what they needed academically as developmentally appropriate and appropriate to each child. The ethos of CK is very open, warm and accepting of diverse families looking to grow together in a supportive, non- competitive setting. Kids are grouped in 6 small classrooms according to age and developmental level. We liked this as opposed to some other pre-schools that put kids age 18 or 24 month with kids 5 years old in one large "preschool" class. read more

Celebration Kids is the most fitting name for this wonderful little school in South Pasadena. It is a joyful, laughter-filled, high energy environment where kids are celebrated for everything that is beautiful about childhood. We have had at least one child enrolled continuously since 2007 and consider Sara, Michele and all of the teachers part of our family. I could go on and on, but some of our favorite things about CK include: (1) minimal staff turnover, (2) the summer program, (3) insightful developmental reviews twice a year so you know your child is on tract for kindergarten socially and academically, (4) solid directors who know how to run a school, select and retain talented teachers, and who know every child individually, (5) a FUN learning environment. I absolutely adore Celebration Kids. I couldn't have asked for a better environment for my daughter. The staff is wonderful. This preschool is magical. The Pre-K teachers are child whisperers. They allow the children the opportunity to be themselves instead of conform to unreasonable expectations. Celebration Kids is amazing. The teachers are incredibly attentive, the directors care about you and your family, and the children are happy. They are well staffed with excellent teacher to student ratios and are VERY experienced. There is a big area for plenty of play outside, art and music.
