To add clarity the events in this review were experienced by EVERYONE in our group for over a year. Many of our fellow parents unenrolled as a result of these events. As class parents we heard the concerns of the remaining parents in our class and voiced our collective concerns, only to be met with retribution from the owner. That being said, If you would like your children to go to a facility where the owner is okay with your child sleeping on a carpet that smells like a casino floor this place is for you. I was debating not writing anything but after spending time at other day cares in the area that take cleanliness and consistency seriously I had to share my experience. We spent over a year at this location with our toddler and during the one year there we experienced a HFM out break that impacted the entire class, yes the entire class was out for weeks. When one child would return even with no others present they somehow would contract the virus, we cited cleanliness concerns that were not addressed. We loved our first teacher unforunately she left after two months, from then on our experience with the leads was a merry go round of turn over during the time there. Every day we wouldn't be sure if our lead would be present, on leave or fired. Turnover is a huge issue here. Once, all of the parents spent a half hour at the gate locked out of the school when we were trying to pick up our children at the end of the day. They could not find their spare key so the children were trapped inside. And lastly after our families were all devastated by the fires, this location opened with a ventilation system that had not been professionally cleaned and carpets that smelled like smoke for weeks. They did not take their role in the recovery process seriously. If leadership, consistency, cleanliness and communication are important to you I would say DDP ranks low on the list of options in pasadena. There are better options down the street. read more

Our son went to discovery days preschool from July of 2021- May of 2025. We had a wonderful experience here especially in the TK (sequoia) classroom. There are a lot of great enrichment activities available for a fee (karate, yoga, dance, soccer, theatre to name a few) on campus. They have state of the art facilities and great teacher to student ratios. They also have a woman who comes in periodically to teach social emotional learning classes (SEL) and supports students one on one if needed for an extra fee. We were extremely satisfied with our experience here, the only negative for us in the earlier years was the high teacher turnover- which seems to be a problem in a lot of preschool environments. All in all though, Discovery Days fostered a very welcoming and positive environment. Our son is absolutely ready for kindergarten socially and academically. read more

This review is long overdue. Our little one was in the toddler classroom with Ms. Sandra, Ms. Juliana, and Ms. Stephanie. They were such wonderful, patient caregivers that encouraged curiosity and free play. The only reason we left the school is that we moved far enough away that it was impossible to make the drive. When we left, it was a month before Christmas and they still allowed us to have our son participate in the Christmas show. My sister's daughter and best friend's sons also attended the school. We definitely recommend Discovery Days to anyone who is considering enrolling their child. Thank you for making our first daycare experience such a great one. read more

This is part II of my review of Discovery Days. It is very bittersweet, my son is graduating from this school this May. We will miss DD very much! Our son started here when he was 20 months old at Buttercups during the thick of the pandemic. Then he was at Poppies, then Tiger Lilies and now he's in the Sequoias TK classroom. He really seems thrive with the schools model/structure and he/we feel really at home, safe and have a sense of belonging in this community. As new parents , we were and still nervous through many of our son's milestones and the teachers Ms. Celina, Ms Gretchen, Ms Leslie, Multitude of teachers and including the admin leadership Araceli, Becky, Lisa were so calm and supportive providing us with resources to guide our lil guy if needed. I really think they know children ! Experts. Our son has shown so much growth in areas of communication, play with other kids, ability to self regulate , be flexible, transition and soaring academic skills . We feel like DD prepared my son well for Kindergarten. He got into our first choice private school and we are not really sure if we would have made it without the help we got from DD. Aimee French , the Social Emotional Educator, who teaches at DD was effective and contributory to building the foundations for my our son's overall growth- emotional intelligence to set the stage for learning and social skills. I also want to mention really awesome extracurricular activities my son loves! Our son comes home singing songs from Mr Max , dancing hip Hop from Jojos class, cool science experiments from Egg Head, and now doing Karate! What an amazing school and support system we have had from DD! We don't know what we're going to do past May!! Words can't express how grateful we are for this community. EVERYONE knows my sons name and he seems to know there's! I feel like this was the perfect place for my son to grow into the amazing kid he is, his innocent happy spirit was cultivated and celebrated. I feel like the school does an amazing job allowing kids to enjoy being a kid! Like i said before, if I could keep my kid here for another until he was 18, I'd do it. They really to lift off parents shoulders, don't demand a lot of volunteerism from parents . But if you like to participate, they welcome it. It's been 2+ years since our family joined the Discovery Days community, and we have nothing but amazing things to say about the school. Our child has been with DDP since just nine months old, transitioning through three classrooms--starting in the infant class, moving to the toddler class, and now in the preschool program. We're also excited for the transition into the TK program next year! What makes this experience so special is the incredible staff and teachers who have been supportive every step of the way. Our child has been with Discovery Days since he was around 20 months old and he's now going into kindergarten and I'm so sad to be leaving! Watching him grow into a kind, loving, active and smart kid has been thanks to the support of the teachers and staff at DDP. As a mother in the workforce, taking my baby to daycare was a decision I struggled with for a long time, but knowing that he was so cared for made the process so much easier. There were never any tears at dropoff, but sometimes at pickup because he didn't want to go home! That was a sign for me personally that this was a good fit. Transitioning from the toddler program to the mixed aged preschool class and finally TK, we saw our child develop physical, emotional and social skills. Watching him learn how to zoom around on a scooter, climb the play structures, and build forts was just as thrilling as watching friendships and a deep love for his teachers form. DDP nurtures students interests and provides so many opportunities for them to try new things and get their hands dirty (sometimes quite literally). I think we most enjoyed the Space and Soccer enrichment classes, and the STEM lab for the TK class has been especially exciting! I am also deeply grateful for their support throughout the pandemic. Their attention to safety and the wellbeing of all was so appreciated, and I know how difficult that was on everyone. We've been with Discovery Days since they first opened in Bellevue. Now, 3 kids and 7 years in, I can't express enough how grateful I am for this school. All of my kids attended since they were infants with one as early as 12 weeks old! You can rest assured your baby is in good hands. We love DDP, my kid is cared for and given so many opportunities to learn and explore. Don't miss the TK program, it's phenomenal.

Our son is about to start Kindergarten in the fall after attending Discovery Days since he was 18 months old. We've had the most incredible experience at Discovery Days, and we recommend it to all new parents in the Pasadena, Glendale, Eagle Rock, Altadena, etc areas. Our son's teachers have been incredible, and I have learned so much from them. They are the most loving and dedicated group of educators. (Shout out to Ms. Becky, Ms. Melanie, Ms. Celina, Ms. Gretchen, and Ms. Amanda!) It's so difficult to choose childcare, and different settings will be better for different kids. However, the great thing about Discovery Days is the core beliefs they have about child development. The curriculum is mostly Reggio-Emilia inspired, with montesorri-like classrooms and open-ended yet thoughtfully planned outdoor learning time. Our son was able to stay at Discovery Days for TK, and they have a great intro-to-phonics program. I am happy about our kindergarten-readiness! At the Palmetto location (there are two locations, with a third opening soon!), there is a creek where the kids can splash and get muddy in the warmer months. There is music class every week (not extra $). There are enrichment classes available if your child is interested. It's so beautiful and joyful everywhere you look. The other great thing I really appreciate and see the benefit of is their commitment to teacher and staff training. They have professional development days for teachers, and often do fundraising for their teacher's continued education. I see the results of this in the classroom. Many teachers have post-it reminders on their walls to remind them how to support students through conflict and how to comfort children when they're upset. The play schemes set up in the classroom have questions posted to remind the teachers what to ask students when they're playing to keep students engaged and learning. Our son needed speech therapy after we identified a speech delay, and the speech therapist was able to come onto campus and provide speech therapy in a school setting. The teachers would often communicate with the therapist to learn more, and the speech therapist would always rant and rave about how great the school was, and how she wished all of the students she worked with attended! We have not experienced any unreasonable amount of teach turnover in our son's class. The administration has stayed consistent, and everyone knows our son on the campus. When we walk onto the playground everyone says hi and when our son is out sick, everyone is so excited when he comes back to school. A reviewer mentioned that the communication around sickness isn't strong--but I disagree. We have been at Discovery Days since before Covid, and their communication and response to any sickness has been excellent. We get constant updates and the staff is always willing to ask questions and provide support. I could go on and on. The other kids and families are great, our son has made amazing friends, we are excited for Kindergarten, but we'll miss Discovery Days so much. read more

We ended up here bc our intended preschool closed at the start of the pandemic (left when it reopened). It's passable as a daycare (expect a lot of illness closures - they don't test for covid or inform about HFM outbreaks, etc..). Like us, most families were waiting to get in somewhere good. The turnover of kids and teachers was nuts - our child had like 10 different teachers in the first year. You just show up and see a strange face at pick up. Not sure why they have trouble keeping staff. Instead of having art, music, etc in the curriculum, you have to pay extra (there's even a "kindness klub, lol). Plan on an add'l $500-700 every 6 weeks on top of tuition and fees. These are mostly taught by teachers already on campus with fancy supplies like used plastic water bottles. Not all the parents can pay for them so some kids are excluded. (Nothing like seeing a kid at pick up sad about being left out). It felt like a money grab. A teacher who left said they don't get allotted much money for supplies. It started out as a daycare at the people who run it's rental house in Pasadena and I would say that's kind of the vibe. It was crazy how different it felt moving to a real preschool and having the support and infrastructure of trained professionals. The hours are longer then our new school, so I guess if there's one thing we miss it would be that. But nice to have teachers with credentials who aren't quitting all the time and a curriculum that is more than just babysitting and doesn't cost extra for things like art and music. read more

I can't recommend DIscovery Days ENOUGH!! We're so thankful for them and all of their staff. My sister saw my daughter's progress with learning and socialization, so much that she started sending her son :) Our daughter started attending during COVID because all of her other classes (elsewhere) were canceled. We were home, unable to go anywhere... it was a struggle! And I was nervous about sending my 2 year old to school amidst a pandemic, but we haven't had any scares (since July!). The teachers and staff are so good about cleanliness and following protocols so that no one gets sick. I haven't worried about my daughter once!! My child has opened up in so many ways since attending DD. She is living her best life and loves going to school everyday! read more

My daughter loved going here. They use Brightwheel which gives you updates through the day with an app. That was a nice feature so you can see what your child is up to while they are away. Not overly expensive but there are yearly enrollment fees to factor in. Mixed philosophy but child led, incorporate some RIE philosophy, Reggio. As they continue to evolve I have high hopes for them. 4.5 stars. They do offer 7:30-6 hours during normal operating times but check for covid hours if interested. read more

I couldn't be happier sending my daughter to DD. As soon as we first saw the place and took the tour, we knew it was the place for us. Everyone there is just so wonderful and caring and it seems like they really enjoy working there. You can tell the staff has a passion for children and seeing them develop. We have been amazed at how our daughter has just blossomed into this amazing human being - and I know a lot of that has to do with going to DD twice a week. We quickly realized that even though we could get by with just 2 days a week, it would be wonderful for her to be there every day and so now we are on the waitlist again for a full time spot. I've seen other daycares/pre-schools and talked to other parents about other places and I'm convinced this is the absolute best. There is just so much to love about DD, from the extra-curricular classes (soccer, cooking, science, dance, French, etc) to the park outings, community get-togethers, Saturday school (for when you just need an extra day to run errands or relax) to date nights, and Brightwheel (an app that lets you see how your angel is doing during the day) and on and on. I am so grateful our family found Discovery Days! When I was pregnant with my daughter, I didn't know where to start my childcare search and was very hesitant about the process. We looked at a few different places around Pasadena and when I visited DDELC I knew right away that I had found the caring and supportive community I was looking for. My daughter started when she was just 3.5 months old and formed a close bond with the teachers in the Sweet Pea room. It was hard for me to leave my little baby each day, but I had complete confidence that she was well taken care of. I was also so amazed at how much she was learning. Her teacher Miss Grace taught her baby sign language and before she could talk she would sign to us that she wanted milk, or more of something, or that she was all done. Now my daughter is now almost two and is excited to go to school every day and see her friends and teachers. She is encouraged to explore and play, loves music, Spanish and art class, and recently began taking a cooking class with Miss Lauren. I attribute so much of what she knows to the amazing teachers at DDELC. Lisa and Dione, the founders of the center, have created an amazing school and community. Perfectly aligned with our approach to parenting, this is an extraordinary place for children to learn and families to grow. To say that my husband and I are particular is an understatement. I'm a former language professor and I am very impressed by the teachers' skills, attention and communication both with the kids and parents. Children here are treated with the utmost respect and care. And that's also how they learn to be respectful and caring with one another. The lessons stimulate all of the senses from movement and imagination, to analysis and exploration. We are invited to be as just engaged in learning and development as our daughter. I can honestly say that I've learned a lot by observing the teachers here. They are thoughtful about subject matter and learning methods. They incredibly responsive to a variety of kids' needs including diet, culture, to behavior and health. What separates DD from other preschools is the solid community it fosters among everyone. My husband and I searched various day care centers for our daughter throughout Pasadena and Arcadia and after touring 10+ daycare centers we found Discovery Days. Upon our arrival to the center I felt at ease. We toured the center and were able to view the different classrooms and all the kids seemed to be genuinely happy. We knew this is where we wanted our daughter and we were able to secure a spot after a couple of months on the wait list. Since attending our daughter has been exposed to art, music, exploration of plants/flowers, and more. The staff takes kids to the park on "park days" and they also have parents night out and Saturday school as additional options and so much more. The staff is amazing and they keep in touch with you during the day through an app to inform of you of how your child is doing during the day. We are really happy with this center and glad to have found Ms. Lisa and her staff. A tip for parents looking into this center - tour this center as soon as you find out you are expecting and if this is the right place for you get your name on the waitlist ASAP. read more

Pros: The facility is new. Cons: I don't think they charge reasonably. Their price is not cheap in the first place, and they have much more days off than any other daycare. Especially in the month of December, they are close for half month, and they still charge full month's price, plus, where can I find someone to take care of my baby only for 2 weeks in Dec?! Also, when I visited the facility, I saw several teachers sitting in the room playing cell phone instead of taking care of kids. read more

I feel so fortunate that we discovered DDELC. Even though we don't live in Pasadena it was important for us to find the right nurturing and creative environment for our daughter, regardless of the driving distance. We've loved our experience and the community we're a part of at Discovery Days. My daughter started in the toddler room when she was 14 months and she is now a bubbly, talkative, inquisitive, potty-trained 2.5 year old. Through every transition and teacher she's been in contact with we've felt supported and reassured that we are in a special place. While she now spends the majority of her time in the older Mixed-Aged group, her teachers have recognized her passion and interest in babies, and have nurtured this curiosity by occasionally inviting her to play and assist in the infant room. This is just one example of the individualized care and attention our daughter (and every child!) receives at Discovery Days. As others have mentioned, the real-time app which provides daily updates including pictures, videos and notes ensure that we feel connected to our daughter, her caretakers and her overall experience. In addition there's excellent and clear communication between staff and families with monthly newsletters highlighting events (field trips, birthdays, and special events) so we are always aware of the school's happenings. We've enjoyed several of the organized excursions to the pumpkin patch, apple picking in the fall, art classes, and numerous holiday celebrations. None of which are required, but merely offered. Lisa and her team go above and beyond in offering a unique and individualized program. We especially love the Spanish music class, the monthly field trips to the local park, the community service projects, and gardening opportunities (we even get to enjoy the tomatoes and herbs at home). Not to mention the roster of well qualified teachers who are willing to babysit when needed during off hours. Speaking of hours, the center's generous 7:30am-6:00pm hours are a huge bonus for our working family. I think the best part about the school is that upon arrival to the center my daughter literally claps her hands and shouts "yay!" in anticipation of going to school. If only this scholastic enthusiasm would last a lifetime. Discovery Days is so much more than a daycare facility. It is a community that inspires children to learn and explore, and offers parents peace of mind that their children are being respected and encouraged to be the wonderfully wild and complicated creatures that they are. read more

When we looked for a Preschool for our (now) 4 year old it was overwhelming. Once we stepped into Discovery Days we just knew. The facility is beautiful and first rate - the teachers are even better. Julia helped us tour the school and assisted in making accommodations even though we were enrolling late in the year. They have advanced tools to keep you looped in on how your child is doing during the day which gave us piece of mind. Their teaching style is Reggio Emilia, meaning the children's interests help to lead the themes of their lessons. They are also play based which has allowed our son to bond with his peers. Let me start by saying the teachers in DD Palmetto location for their mixed age group Mrs Cris, Mrs Sandra and Mr Saul are phenomenal. My son is 4 and they are some of the most Loving, caring, awesome teachers a parent could ask for. My review is in no way a reflection of them. The hours of operation are inconvenient for those of us working in healthcare (12 hour shifts) There is no set curriculum. My son should be in Pre-K and preparing for kindergarten. They spent so much time playing outdoors (0730-1000ish and 3ish to 5:30). After nap time, meals, and clean up-- there's maybe an hour of circle time/learning involved. And it's child based. For example, if the kids are interested in spiders, that's the topic. I needed my son to be learning more--shapes, colors, numbers, writing, reading, for example. They only provide snacks. You are responsible to feed your child breakfast before class and pack a lunch. They do not have a microwave so either send cold lunches or buy a thermos to keep their food in. If you want the school to give food, it's $7/meal. And provided by an outside company. Meals are not prepared on site. You have to buy a mat for your child to sleep on. They don't provide cots/mats. You have to buy/prepare your own emergency kit for your child. The facility does not provide them. Enrichment classes are not included for all children. It breaks my heart that some kids who's parents may not be able to afford it are left out of the soccer, cooking, and yoga class. It's an extra $100 almost for each one per month if you want your child to participate. You have to pay a $500 non refundable facility fee. I was there less than two weeks when I realized it wasn't a good fit for us. They refused to give us back our $500 even though we barely used the "facilities". I understand keeping the $250 registration fee (which is also a ridiculous price). Tuition is already $1200/month and it doesn't really reflect what your child is really getting. It's nice to have an app that reports pictures, meal times, potty breaks, and ability to contact teachers, but I don't think it's really necessary to know my son peed at 1pm. He's four, not an infant. In my opinion, you're paying for the beautiful facility (which it is) and the fancy gate! There's not much diversity there. My son was the only one who looked like himself in the class. They close way too much. Once a month they close early for staff meeting (instead of having staff come in before hours). They closed an entire week in August. And they have multiple closures every month (for holidays, teacher planning, etc) To sum it up, if you're looking for a nice facility, nice teachers, and a place for your child to have fun and be baby sat-- this is the place for you. If you're looking for a more structured curriculum focused on learning/education Pre K setup, don't wast your time. Or money. In the end, I was out close to $1000 for being there less than 2 weeks. read more

Dionne and Lisa Marie are constantly working hard to make it a wonderful, safe and nurturing environment for the kids and the teachers. We are so lucky to have found Miss Lisa and her preschool. Our daughter has been enrolled for over 2 years. Being new parents, it can be very stressful and daunting finding the perfect place! Upon meeting Lisa, we felt very reassured and comfortable dropping off our daughter every morning. The facilities are updated, clean, spacious and above all- safe! I love that the center is gated and locked at all times. I always know that we can trust that Lisa has the children's best interest, and growth, in the forefront of her focus. Our daughter has excelled in every aspect. It has been such a delight to watch her language and vocabulary develop so rapidly. I must also note her teacher, Miss Cherice. She is loving, calm, caring and develops strong bonds with the children. We are so thankful for her professionalism and for the care and concern she always displays with our daughter. Also, the entire staff creates an environment that is loving and respectful. We also love that DDELC is a play based school with creative projects and activities included. The children do arts and crafts, music, park visits, in addition to learning the alphabet, numbers, social skills, acceptable behaviors, etc. There is a nice balance of play/academics. Our son has been attending Discovery Days Early Learning Center full-time since he was 8 weeks old. Being our first child the process of finding a daycare provider was a bit overwhelming. We were initially looking for either a larger day care center - which had long waiting lists - or a nanny - which was very expensive... and when we were almost ready to interview nannies we found Discovery Days. When we met Lisa we knew instantly this was where we wanted our child to be and felt so fortunate she had space for us. In the end, it truly feels as if we are receiving the love and personal attention of a nanny and the professionalism of a larger daycare center, but in a much smaller and more personal environment. Lisa and her staff are very compassionate and kind and provide excellent care for children at each stage, according to their needs. Exceptional. Passionate. Knowledgeable. Pure Awesome. This is what we, the parents of a thriving 2 year old, would say about Ms. Lisa and her phenomenal staff at Discovery Days Early Learning Center. As every parent knows, it's a great task to find a daycare that not only meets but exceeds a child's and parents' expectations and continues to do so EVERYDAY. We first started our daughter at a well known day care around the area with a wait list of 1-2 years. She was 13 months at the time and we were well prepared for the expected drop-off crying and "transition period", but that lasted for 6 mos! We were already looking and interviewing other places and were on a mission to find another place that both parents and daughter felt taken care of. We wanted a daycare that was open to communicating about anything and everything relating to our daughter and their curriculum, and that everything they do is with high transparency. We sought a daycare that supported our philosophy that a kid needs to be a kid for a while, and at the appropriate time, a structured academic would be interwoven with everyday lessons. We wanted to find a clean, open, well-maintained facility that children can feel safe "roaming" around. More importantly, we wanted to find the right educator/caretaker that has experience, credentials, compassion and a personable aura. We found DDELC and our world flipped upside down and our lives changed forever. No JOKE. Our daughter took to Ms. Lisa and her staff THE FIRST DAY....kids just know. She gives us a report each day detailing what they ate, how much, how often, all the BM's etc, nap schedule..and child's temperament. What?! Places still take their time to write these things down? She usually has brief "overall day" discussions with every parent (if they choose) about your child's day. She even helped us in getting our daughter to sleep on her own!!! DDELC's play & academic curriculum changes everyday and are consists to their variety, but complimentary philosophy of free play learning and encouragement as a mean of instilling self confidence. They have field trips to the coolest places -- parks, music festivals, Starbucks (lemonades), ice cream shop, libraries, museums, etc. Our daughter still talks about the day (months ago) she pet a hedgehog at the library! Each activity is integrated with a lesson and they have much more in store. Well thought out fresh hot meals are made the same day and are well balanced with most of the ingredients being organic. The communication is amazing, effortless, and personable and you feel so informed and confident that you've made the best decision of putting your child there. A little about her staff: Ms. Denise, Ms. Jenna and Ms. Stephanie are all just as passionate, enthusiastic and personable as Ms. Lisa and it really shows when all of the children exhibit a healthy relationship with everyone equally. If our little girl misses a day, she asks us why she isn't going. Oh, we can go on and on... Ms. Lisa and her staff are what passionate educators and caretakers are about. They are a rarity, and they make a tremendous difference in the community and children's lives. Promoting intellectual and emotional growth without compromising the essence of childhood is a task often taken for granted in search for speed-learning and force-fed academics. It goes without saying that my daughter is extremely happy and thrives everyday at DDELC. She's not only being taught the academics, but there are everyday lessons about empathy, sharing, reasoning, respect, confidence -- essentials that are so important to instill at a young age. We have had a wonderful experience at Discovery Days for our 3.5 year old son. He has had some behavioral issues stemming from difficulties with social skills, and had unfortunately been pushed out of a couple other preschools where they weren't sure how to handle him. We were transparent before enrollment at DD about the challenges with our son and DD welcomed him with open arms into a loving, supportive environment. They have the best expertise I've seen in helping guide behaviors and teaching my son how to interact properly with his peers (and a great student-teach ratio, I believe 1:5 or 1:6 in his class). He also has difficulties with separating from his parents in the morning and the teachers are so compassionate and helpful in guiding him through those moments. Walking through the school at drop or pickup, every teacher from every class knows my child by name and greets him with a warm smile--it just means so much to us to feel welcome after the negativity we felt from other schools who weren't willing (or equipped) to help with a challenging child. We never felt judged for our son's struggles and they have helped him come a long, long way. They truly treat him as one of their own and we are very grateful that they are part of our family. DDELC has been an incredible experience for both of my children. My daughter started in the Buttercups room at age 13 months. She has been at the school for about 1.5 years and now is in the Poppies class. She has thrived while at DDELC. Her teachers, especially our beloved Ms. Aracely, have been incredibly nurturing, thoughtful, encouraging leaders. They prepare fun, educational projects for the kids every day and put a tremendous amount of effort into creating a stimulating environment to challenge and excite the kids. My daughter asks to go back to school on the weekends! My son started in the Sweet Peas room at age 10 weeks. Because of the trust I had in DDELC, I had zero hesitation about sending him there so young. He is now about 14 months. His teacher, Ms. Grace, is like a second mom to him. He gets a huge smile when he sees her in the morning and reaches for me to pass him over to her. Grace communicates with me throughout the day and makes me feel like he's the only baby in the room. Ms Lisa has created a truly special program for these fortunate little kids. The program is based on Lisa's extensive research and expertise in early education. There is thought and strategy behind all the activities to ensure the children are thriving. Yet it all seems very effortless and fun for the kids (i.e. not overly structured or rigid). We recently attended and Open House at the school and I was blown away by the level of detail and attention paid to every single child. There were detailed write-ups under each child's projects explaining the child's process of creating that project. I also would like to share an experience we had with my daughter and another child at the school, which I believe Lisa handled absolutely perfectly. Another child was biting my daughter. This happened multiple times. Each time, I received and incident report explaining what happened, why the teacher believe it happened, and how it was resolved. After the third incident, Lisa and I had a long talk. I asked what was being done with the other child. She explained that biting is a normal developmental behavior and she will not expel a child for normal behavior. However, she was working with the other parents on some things they could do at home, while also having extra monitoring by the teachers to mitigate future incidents. She also addressed some triggering behaviors that I could help work on with my daughter. Of course, having your child get bit is upsetting. But these things happen and it's all part of social development. I really respected Lisa for protecting the other child. She would not label that child a "biter" and was protecting BOTH children through this phase. When my kids are at DDELC I know that they are safe, happy, well-cared for, being closely attended to, while also developing new skills. When touring daycares, one thing I always paid attention to was the happiness of the children. When you walk into DDELC, you will hear children squealing with delight. Kids are running around happy and exploring freely. It is a wonderful place! read more

We are delighted with our experience at DDELC! Being first time parents, we were nervous about the transition into child care for our daughter and our family. Our concerns quickly disappeared as we saw our three month old develop a loving bond with her primary care taker. It was crucial for our daughter to build a secure attachment to her caregiver for my transition as a working mother. I knew my daughter had the love, support, and respect she needed when I was not there. They read and sang to her everyday and she quickly learned how to communicate with us using baby sign language. The center also became a great resource to us as parents, providing us with important information, from literature on how to sleep train to healthy snack ideas. Our daughter is now in the mixed age room where she is thriving every day. She is 2.5 years old and can count to 20 in both English and Spanish! She loves going to school and the close relationships she has made. She is getting more comfortable using the potty and learning from her peers. The center has also been crucial to her emotional development. As her vocabulary grows, she is learning to manage and express her feelings. Not only do we feel our daughter is in great hands, but the center itself continues to expand and implement new programs for families. They have Music class, Art class, Park days, Saturday School, Community Play Groups, Parent's Night Out, and numerous volunteer opportunities. DDELC also uses the Brightwheel app, which gives parents real time updates about our child's day. We just had another baby, and I was concerned about how this would affect our daughter at school. My worries were relieved and I was grateful that I was getting pictures and updates about my daughter while I was in the hospital. The overall experience with the school and its staff has been wonderful. We are looking forward to our son starting at DDELC next week!! read more

Our daughter has been attending Discovery Days for the last 15 months (she's 19 months now). I can honestly not imagine her being anywhere else. My wife and I had hesitations about the daycare process, we looked at several and it always felt cold and impersonal. Lisa and her team have taken our daughter in and have played a tremendous role in her development. It is now weekly that my wife and I look at each other and ask "who taught her that?" The answer is always the teachers at Discovery Days. They observe common interests in the kids and grow them through exposure and discovery. They are extremely consistent in their actions as a staff. They have taught my wife and I a ton about how we can communicate and reinforce her as she grows. We love Discovery Days! Our youngest daughter has been there for two years, and our oldest daughter just went for the past year. They both love it and made great friends. They especially love Spirit Week and all the other exciting activities. DDP stayed open during the pandemic and provided a safe environment for our girls to learn and have fun. The facility is super clean and their protocols are comforting. Our kids are super happy there and their cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and creative skills have blossomed! I wish there was a rating star as high as infinity that I could of use for rating Discovery days! Let me start by saying that our beautiful daughter made us to change 3 daycares in 5 months before we found discovery day. She was crying not only at drop off but all day in those other places and it's funny that after 2 months of crying, one of them actually asked us that it might be too soon for our daughter to stay in daycare " yes that's crazy" until we found discovery day! Well she was also crying all day over there in the beginning too but they were very patient and professional and very soon made this experience so fun for her that she didn't even want to leave there. Discovery day is different in many ways. Kids feel they are playing in their own backyard rather than some commercial looking typical playground. Teachers are so caring and friendly. Owners are two lovey young couples and they literally made this place like their second home. I really think there is no other place better than discovery day for kids. read more

We are so very grateful to have found Discovery Days. Our daughter has been attending for nearly six months and the tremendous growth we have seen in her is due in no small part to wonderful teachers she interacts with every day. A dedicated husband and wife team run the center. They work hard to create a safe, stimulating, friendly environment for the kids, treat their teachers well (401K, health care, paid vacation), and are constantly striving to make improvements to the facility. I also appreciate that they try to foster a sense of community with seasonal events for the whole family, field trips, and new weekend park meet ups. I'm always happy to walk through the gate and see all the happy kiddos playing and chat with the teachers. We love that our daughter is constantly exposed to new, high quality experiences (free from battery powered toys) and that the teachers follow a Reggio Emilia philosophy that builds curriculum based on the children's interests. Because of the time that the teachers put into lesson planning, she has amazing educational experiences I could never provide her on my own at home. The teachers at DD are supportive of your child's unique development and your wishes as parents. I have heard unfortunate stories from friends about other daycare centers that rush toddlers into taking one nap or potty training. This has absolutely not been the case at DD. They also work to make the transition from one classroom to the next as seamless as possible. My daughter is already playing part of the time with children in the toddler group, but takes naps and meals in the infant room until she is ready to officially make the move. Discovery Days also strives to create transparency with frequent updates via mobile app (including periodic videos and photos of the fun that definitely help me feel more connected) and willingness to engage with parents throughout the day via text or call if needed. They also allow parents to visit at any time, no questions asked. This was so helpful to ease my daughter into her new routine once I went back to work. It is easy to see that teachers at DD genuinely care about the children. When my daughter was sick recently, I received two text messages checking in on her while she was out from daycare. DDELC is the place to be! I found this center on Yelp and based off of the reviews there was no other place I wanted to enroll my son. My son was transitioning from another daycare, and it only took a couple of days for him to feel at home. As a mom, I was also transitioning, and the staff made me feel so welcome and at ease with updates on how he was doing each day. Over the past nine months, we have both formed an enormous bond with everyone at Discovery Days. I experience such joy when I pick up my son every day to see the great big smile on his face.
