There was no discussion beforehand, no working with us to make a plan, and no time to adjust to his first out of home care experience. I have since talked to many educators in my circle of family and friends and they were all surprised (and a little horrified) that he was kicked out so swiftly. If your child is hyper or neurodivergent or if there is there first out of home care experience - look for someplace with more empathy, patience, and parent communication.

This place has gone from great to disgusting and unsafe over the past couple of years. Management…read morehas turned over a couple of times since then and teacher staff is now a revolving door. We just pulled our daughter out of there because they aren't even pretending to apply a curriculum for pre-k. They're babysitters, now, and not even very good ones at that. Most recently, we found soiled clothing stuffed into her backpack with her other clothing, sheet, and blanket. Not in a bag, just right into her backpack which now is soaked with urine. My four-year-old doesn't often have accidents, but good lord, what lazy, thoughtless person thought this was ok? During the pandemic, staff was supposed to be masked. Almost daily, either on dropoff or pickup, there were staff seen in classrooms or in the office (the part parents and kids walk though) either completely without a mask or the mask pulled down. Every time I brought it up, I was told that they'd "mention it in a staff meeting" or confirm that yes, it is their policy for staff to mask up. Regardless of your views on masking, the fact that they just didn't enforce their own policies that are supposed to be in place for safety, is unacceptable. The owner, Tom, also spread misinformation during the pandemic regarding masks and other preventive measures via signage posted at the center and at the summer camp location. This place started going down hill quickly when the director (a couple of directors ago, I think) left. Andrea was the last good one, but it was clear that she was being hamstrung from actually doing anything good there. I know it's tough finding a child care center these days, but please, if you have the option, look elsewhere. I'm sure there are other places just as bad or worse, but I no longer trust this place to keep my child safe and certainly not to prepare her for kindergarten. The dozen or teachers who have cycled through that room in the past few months have been uninterested in getting to know the kids, have completely ignored kids who clearly needed attention, were downright mean to kids (witnessed during dropoff on numerous occasions). If you can help it, please trust your children to another center. Also, the five star review that this is updating was written with the promise of a starbucks giftcard. I'm not sure how many other positive reviews are genuine.

My son attended Cascade from pre-k to 7th grade. Although we did have our fair share of issues with…read moreteachers and staff over the years, we always felt like attending cascade compared to public school was the lesser of two evils. The biggest takeaway we got rather quickly was cascades number 1 priority was profit. Aside from the constant fund raising on top of the very expensive tuition, they find ways to charge you for every little thing (like football cost $250 to play on top of providing your child with cleats etc). I don't want to make it seem like we were miserable because that wasn't the case. Cascade preaches we're all family and did a good job of making us believe that! That is until it's time to stand up for each other like family is supposed to. The summer going into 7th grade I became extremely sick and lost my mobility. I was unable to work, exhausted my savings and maxed out my credit cards paying bills and tuition. Between hospital visits, I was in constant communication with the powers that be at cascade, In hopes we could come up with a plan to keep my child in the only school he's ever known. Sadly that was not the case! Not only did they kick my son out but they did it in a manner that showed no compassion! He took it hard initially leaving all his friends. Of course I felt like I failed my son but you never think it can happen to you until it does. Unfortunately That cascade family stuff they preach extends about the length of your wallet! It's just big business. Nothing else matters!

I would think twice about sending your child here. They put up a great façade and make it look…read morelike it is a wonderful place to send your child, but in reality it is not. Their communication is terrible. Takes them days/weeks to respond by email. My child could never come home and tell me what he learned. He would literally cry in the morning because he was scared of the head teacher/owner Ms. De Alwis. I ended up pulling him out early and not finishing the year. I did not tell them, just never sent him back. They NEVER called me to see if he was ok, or to try and find out why he he was no longer coming to school. As a school and a teacher, you have the obligation to check on your students and their well being. It is called a welfare check. But nothing from them... They also do not do conferences. When you ask to to set up a conference they act like they are doing you a favor...and when you do get a conference, they could not tell me anything specific about how my child was doing - just that he was doing great...when in reality he was not. When he started there he could write his name really well, but as the year went on, he digressed. They did not correct him or try to help him get back to where he was. It was a very sad and frustrating year. Thankfully, we found a different school that has been just wonderful! Further, we have a friend that also sent their child to Misty Mountain as well. After a year, they decided to take him out as well, and find a different school for him - for many of the same reasons listed above. Overall, very disappointing, sad, and frustrating experience.

The Montessori method is used here, and it's wonderful to see how much the children learn. My son knows more countries than I knew at the end of elementary school, has studied the foods and cultures around the world, learns the science of trees, plants, animals, and more, and is so ahead in math and reading (close to 2nd grade level) that kindergarten is going to be pretty boring for him next year. They also learn about famous artists and music composers and work on practical life skills. At this school, your child learns at their pace with lots of fabulous learning tools, and there is no limit to what they can do. They work independently, with the teacher, and in small groups. The classroom is multi-age, allowing for the youngest kids to learn from the oldest, and the oldest to learn kindness and compassion while helping the younger children. Karen understands the importance of play and creativity for young children, while at the same time never underestimating how much they can learn and how eager they are to acquire knowledge.
